I appologize if this is just kind of a pointless brag post (this is offtopic). For anyone who plays d&d 5th edition I found a really cool build I was playing last night. The party was lvl 13 and would lvl sometime last night. I ended up rolling a new character as I had been a bard / pally / cleric before and I was fairly good at healing with that build but it did nothing else. Instead last night I rolled up a Druid 12 (shapeshifter) Cleric 1 (life) last night and had some fun.
In the current campaign we are in we are generally fighting several rather difficult fights usually something like 3 hard fights + one encounter based event per day and we lvl at the end of it. We are progressing through the 9 layers of hell on a mission and each layer must be done in one day and we lvl at the end. We ended up getting to the end of the layer we had been in as we were close to the end of it when we picked up for the night. I then converted all of my spell slots into goodberries and ended up with something like 140 goodberries ranging from 4-10 health recovering each because of my life domain pickup.
In the next layer I use shapeshifting to tank and spank the first two fights more or less. I then fly around (am an avian race) for the third fight firing call lightning repeatedly on multi stacked units. I end up giving almost full rest recovers to a party of 7 3 times in a case where we had people close to or actually dropping in each fight.
TLDR: I had some fun min maxing a few things in D&D. Druids are kind of gross.
My last character was a dwarven monk named Tupalo Black who was loosely min maxed for mobility and agility, with wisdom secondary. With no armor his AC was pretty great, but that hardly ever mattered because he almost never ended his turn anywhere near the baddies, even if they weren't stunned or prone. I started as with an elemental build, but since it our first real game in 5th we allowed each other to alter our characters as much as we wanted after the first session or two, and the more traditional monk was just so much better. We started at lvl 9 (Rise of Tiamat) and we were allowed to pick a magic item so I devised these magic ribbons that were worn like a fighter's hand wraps and allowed me to do additional cold damage dice (so they doubled on crit) like 3 times per long rest. My turn was often something like- move into melee, hit one enemy twice, move to another hit them twice or once stunning them, then moving well out of melee if I couldn't take advantage of their condition on my next turn. None of the attacks were devastating, but since I was rolling 2-4 times more hit rolls than the other players per turn I had way more chances for crits. I got him to lvl 11 before I took over GM duties, and by then he had a slow fall ability and could run up walls. Even AOE dragon breath wasn't too bad because the Monk automatically takes half from that and can save for half again. Many times our mage was planning a fireball and at first he was worried about catching me in the blast, but the damage was almost never all that scary so I just told him to cast to his heart's content. He took heavy damage a couple of times, but had the mobility to get out of the way right after.
I love 5th. I am never a min maxer but sort of did with Tupalo. It was really fun. My step-brother (who I have been playing D&D with for more than 30 years) moved to Boston a few months ago and the group has sort of fallen apart since then.
The GP was pretty awesome. I went Friday about noon and did a sealed event which I only managed to go 2-2 on. Met up with some friends and hung out until it was time to leave. On Saturday I did the 0900 sealed splitting the finals so 3-0-1. Met up with d0su who was in the middle of drafting his awesome looking monoblue cube so I jumped in a draft. P1P1 Chandra but she wasn’t able to compensate for my poor play and I went 2-1. Afterwards I did some Commander with d0su with some memorable games with me playing Squee, him playing Sasaya and his friend playing Ghost Council. Every game involved him making massive mana and casting huge Genesis Waves or making massive token armies while Ghost Council tried to keep the board in check and I did monored things like casting Mana Flare and Furnace of Rath hoping for the best. I was giving d0su a hard time about having Mana Tithe in the Ghost Council deck only to eat my words as it ended up countering a massive Gelatinous Genesis. Afterwards I hung out with friends and headed back Sunday. My buddy had packs of Conspiracy 1 & 2 so we did an 8 man draft which was a blast. We got lunch and a few of the guys went off to watch football so the rest of us did a commander draft with me ending up with a BUG Stasis deck (Leovold) vs Queen Marchesa, Xenagos, God of Revels, Sliver Queen and Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim. Xenagos gets hit with Master of Cruelties turn 5 and dies to a token several turns later. Keldon Firebombers set back our mana but I was able to recover quickly on the back of Mana Reflection + Teferi, Temporal Archmage forcing a concession a couple turns later to my Blatant Thievery stealing lands. I’m not big on signed cards but I did buy a signed and altered Demonic Tutor playmat from Douglas Schuler which was pretty sweet. The main event had some pretty insane pools with the inventions in the mix. My buddy opened a Sol Ring and I met with a guy later on who lost to turn 1 Sol Ring into turn 2 Chandra, Torch of Defiance in round 8 2 games in a row. Apparently the guy had Sol Ring, Chandra, Torch of Defiance and foil Chandra, Torch of Defiance in his deck. Seems fair. There were also rumors of a deck that had both Sword of Fire and Ice and Sword of Feast and Famine.
Am I alone in my concern that the 2016 commander decks are going to be a raging dumpster fire? The last few sets of decks have been easily playable and even somewhat competitive right out of the box. I can't imagine a budget 4 color manabase that isn't slow as dirt and inconsistent.
I'm sure there will be some exciting new cards but I'm not convinced the decks will work.

I'm sure they will be playable agains each other. They are going to have plenty of CITP lands, which will make for games with more turns, but they will also have plenty of mana rocks that tap for colored mana, even if they might have only a few uses.
I've gotten back into playing skyrim since I finally got my new computer...
I started that up again a couple weeks back. I'm even managing to fight the urge to power through all of the crafting skills the same way I usually do. I'm collecting all of the materials for when I eventually do break and do it, but I've held off a lot longer than normal.

I know in a few weeks the special edition will be out and free for PC owners, but I just wanted to play and see what ultra looks like. I've also gone a little crazy with mods lol
To give you an idea about my computer: On my old rig when I played WoW the max FPS i got was 18...now it's been hitting 50-80 FPS
I had one of the more-fun EDH games a few days back. I finally got the Ryusei-Repercussion plan to work (although it was a 3-player game and I locked out one with an early Blood Moon and relied on Sword of War and Peace on a Lightning Rager for the win, but the main plan did a lot of heavy work in the middle phase.
Then when I was playing Karador, I finally remembered to get Iona out (yes, I put it in the deck on purpose to see its actual impact on games/reactions). I don't think I could drew any conclusions out though mainly because I named the common color between my opponents (W against a WU and WBR deck in case you were wondering) and the WBR deck was already durdling due to bad draws and just lost later, leaving the WU deck against a board-controlled Evolutionary Leap-Acidic Slime reducing as many blue sources as possible. Iona did effectively shut down half the deck, making it easier for the board control to shut the other half down, but given the circumstances, I wouldn't say that would be frequent by any mile (it was a 3-player game to begin with anyway), so I wouldn't say that 1 experience goes for or against any of the stands about the card itself. I still felt sort of bad that I shut down half the deck with a single card though, even if the player himself didn't mind and said it was expected.
Then I had the longest game that day revolving around 4 WU Commanders (Brago, New Isperia, Zur and Narset) that involved an early Nether Void. Many turns later and 2 Cataclysms later (that did not get rid of said Nether Void), we just decided to call it a day.
On other news, the Pokemon Sun & Moon demo is coming out tomorrow. I will not be surprised if the Nintendo e-shop servers went down tomorrow. In fact, I will not be disappointed either if it does, honestly.
Shin Godzilla (Shin Gojira? Godzilla Resurgence?) has one showing in my town, tomorrow only. Has anyone seen it? What are your thoughts?
I'm a pretty big Godzilla fan, so I'll probably see it regardless.
Hello new best friend! I've heard mixed things, some loved it, some hated it. I was going to go see it last week, but my wife's schedule changed and we suddenly had no day care.
I'm not really a Godzilla fan, but I'm a little disappointed they moved away from someone in a rubber suit as the monster. Campy monster movies are the best kind of monster movie.
I also didn't even know there was a new Godzilla movie, but I can see why it would be interesting after cursory research and it did great in Japan. I suspect there's a little less of a gut connection to Fukushima for a western audience which probably explains the difference in the reviews. I don't think it's the top of my list of movies and I won't see it in theaters. I might track it down sometime later when it's a little more available.

Given how the last two years releases were, I look forward to new cards but I do not intend to buy the precons. I will cherry pick the cards I want and buy in singles this year. The first two years it made sense to buy them all but since then I think they have learned that they went too far with the commanders and they seem to also be including less value as a whole since the True Name Nemesis deck came out.
I look forward to new cards but I have like.... very little interest in 4-5 color commanders so I will be very surprised if any of them stir any interest in me after seeing them.

I remember enjoying the New York Godzilla movie they made back in the 90s but I dont know.... for the most part its not something that interests me. I suspect that most of the future movies in that franchise will be focused on the Japanese following in the future.

Bummer! I missed one opportunity to see it (a week ago, in a town more than an hour away) because of my wife's schedule changes. I was stoked when I learned yesterday it would be showing here!
The movie starts here in about 2 hours. I will let you know what I think.

From what I have seen, this version is sort of a return to the rubber suit Godzilla. I think it's all CG, but they stylized it to look and move more like classic Godzilla, instead of the T-Rex style American versions.

Oh... yes, I try to forget about the 1996 movie. It was still entertaining, but I think it would have gotten better reviews had it not been called "Godzilla".
I liked the 2014 Godzilla, though. Critics said there wasn't enough Godzilla in it, but I liked the "understated" approach. Well... as much you can understate Godzilla, I guess.
It should be noted that by fans of the Toho Godzilla, that the 96 movie monster is called "GINO" Godzilla In Name Only, and in Godzilla Final wars ( I think) GINO was killed rather quickly.

I think they also sometimes call him "Zilla". And yeah, he made a cameo and was one-shotted by the real Godzilla in Final Wars.
Shin Godzilla first impressions (copy-pasted from Facebook, so a piece of it rehashes what I said in my earlier post):
(Also, there are no real spoilers here that can't be gleaned from the official trailers. I'm just including the spoiler tag for readability.)
I'll start by going on record that I liked the 2014 Godzilla movie that was American produced. I appreciated that it was essentially a monster film that tried to not rely on the giant monsters to have a decent movie. Godzilla in that movie was *almost* understated. At least, as much as you can understate Godzilla.
Shin Godzilla is much different. There is really no plot that is not centered around Godzilla himself. That isn't to say it is an action flick with no meaningful dialogue, because there is definitely a lot of talking (and reading, thanks to the subtitles), just that all of the conversation is usually between Japanese government officials scrambling to figure out how to handle the situation. It felt like a political commentary, but I can't say for sure since I don't follow Japanese politics.
One thing I will say, more than any of the Godzilla films I've seen in the last 20 years, Shin Godzilla has this kind of "gravity" to it. Think War of the Worlds, maybe. Like, you watch Transformers by Michael Bay and see all this continual SFX carnage and it doesn't phase you, but certain scenes of this movie made me feel like I was witnessing footage from some kind of awful natural disaster.
In that sense, Godzilla in this movie is more like a force of nature than anything. Maybe it is similar in that way to the original film released in the 1950s. He is not some animal hiding in the subways of Manhattan, like the 1996 movie. He is not some giant aquatic T-Rex that will save the world from the MUTOs, like the 2014 movie. He is not here to make friends. He is just here.
If you've seen the anime Evangelion, this movie carries the same sort of dread and "bizarreness" as some of the encounters in that series. I guess that makes sense, considering both productions have the same director, Hideaki Anno.
Overall, I liked it. I want to say it's my favorite, but since I literally just got out of the movie, I won't go on record saying that yet. As something of a Godzilla fanboy, I hope to see more Godzilla movies take this direction in the future.
