Well, I managed to successfully adult again. My bathroom shower started leaking, so this weekend I repaired the drain and then put up a new patch of drywall in the dining room where the water damage was. It's also like I'm a functional human being or something.
I picked up an extra 8.5 hours of work this weekend trying to mash a project to the finish line by my dead line. Then came in early today. I am probably staying late today too. On the upside.... My work week will end at some point on Thursday as it stands.
On the downside, I feel tired.... and I need a break.... Working more than 40 hours a week is not fun. I do not envy those who normally do this.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.

My work week is 56 hours, but that is by choice and getting mad overtime monies. But it still sucks to wake up so early.
So, I learned this past week that one of my classes will have a term paper as the final, that's fine but the kicker is that back in english 102 I learned how to do MLA style...the teacher for my class wants it done in APA style....

Style guides don't really change the content of a paper. Write whatever it is you're going to write, keep in mind where you need to cite your sources, then go back over it with a style guide and fix all of your citations/margins/etc. There are enough good resources out there that you should be able to figure it out. Purdue OWL is a good one for MLA/APA/Chicago. I don't recall if I've ever had to write a paper using APA (IEEE has their own style guide, so that's what I've been dealing with for a while now), but it looks pretty straightforward and it's one of the common ones so it can't be that bad. You'll be fine.

Yeah, I knwo the style won't change the content..just annoying that you get taught one stylee and then asked to do another one...luckily, Word has templates for the different styles. Also at the start of the semester in the syllabus the final was going to be a protracted exam but then he changed his mind to a paper
Yeah, I hate it when teachers do that. My Misic history professor just jumped a big project on us and sent us an email saying that she wasn't going to go over it in class and to just read the handout carefully. Then said, oh by the way, I want it in Chicago not MLA which is the school standard.
So many students enter college with outside expectations and hopes without understanding the discipline and commitment needed to go as far as necessary. Or sometimes they're just not superb at academia and being forced into it anyway.
To people who drop out, I don't necessarily consider them failures but rather people who understand who they are and want to go a different way.
There's still a real misconception in the US that you have to get a degree from a major school in order to get a good job and be successful. This results in a lot of folks going to college who should probably be going down a different path after HS.

A lot of the blue collar jobs where a formal school education require just as much time and dedication to succeed as more traditional white collar jobs and degrees. To become a certified HVAC tech you can enter into an apprenticeship that rivals getting your masters degree.
I'm pretty big on education (I come from a family full of teachers and grad degrees) so I can't come down too hard on people going to college, but the attitude towards trade schools and apprenticeship programs in the US is terrible. I'm not sure I ever even heard of those as an option when I was in high school. Everything was very college focused. Some of that was likely the classes I was in but it should have at least been mentioned in passing at some point, especially when almost half of my graduating class didn't walk.

I couldn't agree more. I have several friends who are in the trades and they wasted a lot of time out of HS because they got terrible career advice. My HS guidance counselors made it sound like you were a total failure if you wanted to become a mechanic or a chef.

Curious. Around here, they are really emphasizing that going to a trade school is totally okay and depending on your trade can actually net you more money and better chance at getting a job that going to high school/university...
I too considered it, but since I really didn't have any trade I was interested in back then, I chose high school and then continued to university...

It's true that you can make good money without traditional college, but over here it is beaten into your head by the establishment that not going to a four year institution is the equivalent of being a high school drop out bum. And being blue collar is looked down upon, no matter how much you make.
Not to mention that the idea of a degree lasting "four years" is also not remotely considering the differences between each of the disciplines.
Some of the easy ones you can easily finish in three years, while in my path, it is extremely common for chem students to require 5 years for the bachelor's.
Well due to my health status as disabled, I'm going back to college just to learn more. In other news, I opened a pack last night and got Midnight Oil
Don't get me wrong, I'm super in favor of education. My extended family up to grandparents has about 10 people. There are 3 PhDs, a couple of masters degrees, several teachers, and a lawyer. I can get behind learning for the sake of learning. That doesn't mean that that much education is for everyone.

I took around 4.5 for physics, but a large part of that was taking the minimum units each quarter after a particularly poorly planned quarter my second year. Wife took 3 for history and almost had a couple minors along with her BA, but the remaining classes were all going to be weird to fit in and it wasn't really going to make a difference in the end. She took a lot of classes at a time and worked harder than most, though.
Unrelated to education, I grabbed a bunch of Kaladesh foils and I haven't had a chance to play since then. I likely won't have a chance for another week or two either. I may have jumped the gun on those purchases.

I appologize if this is just kind of a pointless brag post (this is offtopic). For anyone who plays d&d 5th edition I found a really cool build I was playing last night. The party was lvl 13 and would lvl sometime last night. I ended up rolling a new character as I had been a bard / pally / cleric before and I was fairly good at healing with that build but it did nothing else. Instead last night I rolled up a Druid 12 (shapeshifter) Cleric 1 (life) last night and had some fun.
In the current campaign we are in we are generally fighting several rather difficult fights usually something like 3 hard fights + one encounter based event per day and we lvl at the end of it. We are progressing through the 9 layers of hell on a mission and each layer must be done in one day and we lvl at the end. We ended up getting to the end of the layer we had been in as we were close to the end of it when we picked up for the night. I then converted all of my spell slots into goodberries and ended up with something like 140 goodberries ranging from 4-10 health recovering each because of my life domain pickup.
In the next layer I use shapeshifting to tank and spank the first two fights more or less. I then fly around (am an avian race) for the third fight firing call lightning repeatedly on multi stacked units. I end up giving almost full rest recovers to a party of 7 3 times in a case where we had people close to or actually dropping in each fight.
TLDR: I had some fun min maxing a few things in D&D. Druids are kind of gross.
