I'm tempted to apply to be a mod for this area..but I don't want to deal with all you old grumpy bitter ass people's problems....
This is actually a pretty good forum. We still have our fair share of reports but that's because we're the largest forum on the site. And our drama has really dropped in the last few years. But yes, we're definitely
Just realized I could hand my buddy a deck and basically Plants vs Zombies: MtG Edition with Titania and Gisa.
Anyone have New Year's Eve plans? Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner to celebrate my birthday is about as far as I've gotten in planning anything.
I'm going to take a train in couple of hours and go to the neighbouring town to meet my friends. We were planning to play games (not MtG), eat and fire fireworks. (That's the right verb, right? "To fire"?)

Also modgaming Bur setups is kind of treading down a dark path
Kurkesh, it was a 3 player game, vs. Shu Yun and Phage.
I ended up winning by killing Shu Yun with his own Commander (Helm of Possession) and killing Phage with tokens (Elemental Mastery, though it was thwarted, and Summoning Station) over a few turns. Power Matrix played a strong role in giving trample, and Sun Droplet played a role in making me not die to flyers (Since my power Matrix was often tapped, and I need more ways to make flying tokens in the deck).
Overall, I've been working hard to eliminate cards that have a net negative 'fun' impact (helm may go, it's good, but has feel-bads, and killing someone with their own Commander simply isn't as epic of a thing these days, I just need another removal slot in its place). Another interaction that may need to go is the Salvaging Station/Summoning Station together. One alone is ok, but both is a bit much, and overshadows what I'm trying to do with the deck.
I also don't want the deck to durdle too much. Some durdling is going to happen (it is Kurkesh), but I want to eliminate the durdle to durdle more. This is also a power-level nerf, since Kurkesh can break very easily. No untapping things, no super-broken synergies. Trading Post got cut on the durdle rule. Sensei's top is currently in the deck to fix some card draw (1r: draw card in Kurkesh, happy times), but I think I'm going to axe that on OP and durdle reasons, and replace it with Eye of Yawgmoth, because I showed the card tonight, and everyone had to stop to read it.
When I first saw Kurkesh, my thought process went "I love rings of brighthearth! Kurkesh is half a rings in the Command zone! I can make a Rings Deck! How can I make my fetch lands intoartifacts? I can play Dark Depths! (without cheats!) It's Kurkesh, so he's Captain Kurk, I can make the deck with expendable red tokens and have expendable 'red shirts'! I can sac lands and bring them back in *****ty way! I can run Salvaging Station, I can run Clock of Omens- wait no, thats broken... I can run- wait no, that's broken too, how about-nope, broken with kurkesh... Aw *****, Kurkesh is a rings of brighthearth and breaks easily."
Last week I managed to put a Vesuva on a Mimic Vat so I could double activate it EOT to get 2 myriad landscapes, in order to turn them into artifacts and copy-sac them. Then I killed a planeswalker by dropping a Bludgeon Brawl and hitting it with a Wasp token equipped with its own The Hive. Then I killed someone with their own commander wielding the very helm of Possession that was controlling it, a liquimetal coating, and the bludgeon brawl itself, turned into an artifact with the liquimetal coating. Then I finally won a long-ish stalemate (because I had no hand and nothing to really do) in which I amassed 11 Gauntlet of Mights on my side of the field (Prototype Portal). I almost was going to kill a player with their own Sliver Queen which would have been buffed to lethal soley by gauntlets of might, power, and caged suns, but that plan got interfered with. This week, I killed two people in the first game with a Marit Lage token. I removed all 10 counters. Some 2 at a time with kurkesh. Most, simply normally, because apparently 2 Bane of Progress kinda kills the deck. I eventually still lost, since, you know, I had nothing... but Marit Lage. Darn banes... Although last week I got to turn a bane of progress into an artifact with my Liquimetal Coating in response to its own trigger, because seriously, **** that.
I do worry a bit about making the deck too crappy, but I maintain that a good balance can be found, and that good cards can be removed it they create a negative feeling, and that there are enough other cards in magic that can serve similar function to replace them.
This week, I'm going to add a Golem Artisan. Someone suggested Avarice Totem to me, but in retrospect, that's even more evil than Helm. I may also add Raging River, because that card is boss mode.
Good grief man. That deck sounds insane. I used to play Slobad, Goblin Tinkerer, and I'd just durdle around playing and saccing artifacts. Your list sounds a lot better than that.
Also, currently the artifacting things in the deck are the Landshaper and Liquimetal coating, since on the first pass the deck had very few non-artifact things in it. I have since re-added Stigma Lasher and Lord of Shatterskull Pass. If I get more non-artifact creatures, I can re-add Thran Forge and Ashnod's Transmogrant.
Maybe Spikeshot Elder... 3 gauntlet effects, bludgeon brawl, and thran forge... would that be enough pump? I can also add Blade of the Bloodchief. Pumping Kurkesh with dying tokens seems another good alternate... Maybe add Rogue's Passage.
(Transmog wants Salvaging station to stay in the deck though)

I thought I put in *****ty cards, but the deck ends up doing more than I think it would or should. I have won 3 out of 5 games played so far, and had crazy insane plays and eliminated several players in the other two. I have been surprised.
YES!!! I have wanted to put in Brawl in a deck for forever, but never found a home where I was happy. I finally pulled the trigger, and I do not regret it. It was everything I thought it would be, and more. It is love.
I run it in Godo since the deck is packed with artifact mana. Sometimes Godo just grabs all those rocks and a Grim Monolith and swings for the fences. There is no more entertaining play in the deck than that.

Funny story, I dropped the Vesuva early to not miss a land drop (T3), but was agonizing over being a mountain or being a Mishra's Factory. Problem was I didn't have a second source of red to drop Kurkesh. I decided to risk it since the deck is mainly artifact anyways, and it I got no lands, I could at least play with factories.
Fast forward a few turns, I just played a Mimic vat and had 4+ mana to activate and copy it, but nobody is letting a creature die (what jerks). Godo plays a Myriad Landscape, and I wish to myself that I still had my Vesuva, since I had Liquimetal Coating in hand. Then it clicks, and I am glee. Activate Vesuva Factory by using itself, sac it with Goblin Welder to bring back something, BUT WAIT, it was a creature, ONTO THE VAT! On end step (so that they last through my turn and get to untap), double activate the vat, for 2 landscapeys, untap, am 1 mana short of dropping the liquimetal, double activating it on both lands, AND double activating both lands. So I only got 6 lands out of that deal.
Astute readers will note that not all cards previously mentioned are currently in it. 2-3 cards have changed between every game. Sometimes by passing an opponent 5 cards and saying. "Which of these should be in the deck?" That got The Hive in after one game, and Strionic Resonator after another. Resonator came out on Durdle factors. Though 6 copy Kurkesh was impressive. 6x Titan forge, ACTIVATE!
Trying to decide which theme deck to build between Baron Sengir Eldritch Abominations and vampire servants or Zurgo Bellstriker Conan the Barbarian-esque.
When I pitched Captain Kirk-esh to some people, they started trying to brainstorm ways to get all the other characters in, and I had to be like-- no... That's not the goal. I just want to appreciate a simple joke, not force it.
So it really comes down to preference. Serious theme decks can be really cool, but light hearted ones that loosely follow the theme or concept can be good as well. I personally tend to prefer building the latter, but people who do the former get some serious respect for me.
There's a deck on here somewhere with a theme on the book of Revelation and the coming apocalypse. Serious flavor respect.
I'll probably just go with Conan, Subotai, Valeria, and the Wizard. I do agree that serious theme decks are really cool and if I eventually build the Eldritch Abomination deck that can be a serious theme deck.
I have a headache from trying to follow that deck, bob. But if you need a table judge on hand every turn for a "does this work?" you're doing it right.
I was eating next to this family with my boys. As the other family leaves the 3 year old boy points at me and says, "mom, I hate that guy," and just walks away. The ****?!
That's twice as many things as I'll be doing.
