Your face when you realize that in the 2020 Presidential Election there will be eligible voters who were born after 9/11. Kids who literally never lived in an America without the Patriot Act. Kids who probably don't even remember W, and have only really known Obama and whoever wins the 2016 election. Kids who haven't ever seen the Republican party as anything but the "party of 'no'", and who haven't seen the Democrats as anything but doormats. I wonder if it will make them think that these attitudes are normal and expected, and thus not even balk at circuses like the current Republican debates. Or maybe, not having the nostalgia for the "good old days" of the Republican party with Reagan and Bush Sr., they'll realize exactly how ludicrous the modern party is.
Apologies if I'm getting too serious for Off-Topic or if I offend anyone.
Yeah. I was born during Carter and spent my early childhood with Reagan in office. When Clinton was running the first time I prank called people by pretending to be a polling agency - which I thought was beyond hilarious. And Clinton was there during my idealistic phase of life with Bush being there to crush that idealism. I can't imagine people in their mid 20s not having to endure the Bush presidency since that hatred for politics and feeling like my government had no interest in me was very tied to that.

Hmmm.... in an attempt to steer clear of the political stuff, I just saw something that I found true and hilariously hypocritical at the same time.
Call of Duty is bad because it gets a new game every year, but everything stays the same.
5 Nights at Freddy's is awesome, is the same game every time, and has had 4 games released in the last year.
FNAF's got an interesting story, but it's a game that really is more entertaining to watch other people play, than it is to play yourself. The good news is though that the creator's next project is actually an RPG using modded versions of the characters, so I'm interested to see what happens when we put the story at the forefront and get rid of the OMG SO LOL SCARY jumpscares.
In other news, finished paying off for my preordered case of BFZ. I'm all aboard the hype train for this set.

I'm sorry. They really dropped the DragonMaze hammer on this one... the only thing that saves it is that you ~might~ get an expensive card and because it's the first set of the block there might be cards that became playable after Khans rotates.
I'm going to skip this pre release, there's really nothing in this set that I want beyond the cards that would be easier to order as singles, than spend hte money opening packs lol
If that's all we can find to complain about, EDH is in a good place. The thread should be dead, but the internet can't ever be in a state of not *****ing about something.
Yeah this set is a real let down for me also. I know that Wizards isn't going to make a crap set knowing it'll sell because of some gimmick lands, but ****. I feel like I could save money by buying the singles than buy one pack hoping for the cards I want.
This set isn't stellar, but I think it's going to be deeper at first glance. There's a ton of stuff I'll use in EDH, including:
1) The new dual lands. Basic types are great.
2) Manlands. They're not amazing, but they certainly don't hurt
3) Processors. I've done a small write-up on their power and might flesh it out into an article.
For anyone underestimating Processors and the impact they'll have on EDH, consider the following scenarios:
-Oblivion Ring effect an problematic opposing permanent. Process it into its owner's graveyard to get rid of it more permanently.
-Roon or Astral Slide something. Process it into its owner's graveyard so it never comes back to play
-Use Mimeoplasm or Wrexial to exile things, then Process them back into their owner's graveyard to Mimeoplasm or Wrexial them again
-Exile opposing things to feed Scavenging Ooze, Night Soil, or Necrogenesis. Process them into the graveyard to exile again
-If you're feeling particularly adventurous, use a Sadistic Sacrament type effect to exile choice opposing reanimation targets, and then Process them into the graveyard when it comes time to reanimate them (with something like Chainer or Geth).
4) Various colorless removal, like Ulamog and Scour from Existence. These are great for Monocolored decks, especially Green, and also for colorless EDH
5) The Retreats. These all are cool cards with interesting potential. Retreat to Emeria provides landfall tokens AND anthems. Retreat to Coralhelm has powerful combo applications and can filter for the other pieces. Retreat to Hagra can quickly drain out the table in a ramp deck. Retreat to Kazandu might be the weakest, but does provide a lot of ramp or +1/+1 counter synergy (combo with Fertilid for awesomeness). Reatreat to Valakut can clear a path and power up dudes at the same time.
6) Emeria Shepherd - Repeated recursion of any nonland permanent. This is straight insane. In addition to the combo potential it has, it's also just a crazy value engine.
7) Greenwarden of Murasa - Eternal Witness is a constant staple. This gives the same benefit on a larger body with the possibility for a second Regrowth when you need it.
8) Planeswalkers - All three of them seem solid, especially Kiora.
9) Zulaport's Cutthroat - It doesn't trigger as often as Blood Artist, but it drains everyone and has a point of power on its own, so it's a decent tradeoff. As Blood Artist is one of my favorite creatures, another version is always welcome.
10) Sire of Stagnation - It's no Consecrated Sphinx, but it's sure strong and will definitely be screwing up boards.

How many lands come in the Fat Packs? Any chance those are still worth buying just based on the lands?
40 lands I think? Assuming they follow the trend of going up to at least $1 over time, and assuming you can sell all of them for at least $1, then eventually you can make your money back by buying fat packs and holding onto the lands. I'm getting at least one fat pack and I intend to throw the unopened lands into my bulk box and just sitting on it.
I think it's reasonable to assume that the lands will eventually end up around a buck, so that's not bad. That seems like the only realistic way to not get taken to the cleaners buying sealed product from this set.

You mean you're not going to buy a case because that's the only way to ensure you most likely get an expedition?
3 hours later and the Cascadia Dark Ale is in the fermenter and ready to go on a 3 week journey to alcoholandia. Now I just need to get my pauper decks update with the Khans lands and then off to bed.
I didn't think I would have the time to draft them this time round, so I decided not to get BFZ Boxes. It does feel like a typical set, since most of them always feel weak during the previews until the first important Standard tournament with results. Full-Art Basics does make it more worth (since essentially the foil land in the box would equate to more than a rare) and there's the Expedition Lottery, but otherwise it's pretty much a typical set. I couldn't even feel the hype from the official sources for the set once they got past revealing there were Expedition Lands.
Rise of the Eldrazi was probably my favorite Limited formats ever, so while I know BFZ is not exactly it, it is also the closest Limited format to that, so I think I'll be attending a lot, if not all the the Prereleases I can, considering how expensive it is to actually draft RotE again. Plus, I collect Foil Colorless Eldrazi cards and their corresponding lands and decided to consider Devoid Cards as valid Colorless cards since they have the "full art frame", so that means I have a total of around 75 foils I need to hunt, so the more Prereleases I play, the longer I stay around to hunt them down earlier. Since the Prerelease foils are basically the entire set's rares and mythics, it also means I have an additional shot at those foils (ultimately I think I want regular foils for the collection, but getting a Prerelease Foil makes it easier for trades and I probably need some extra foil ones of any versions for EDH anyway).

Bold for the terrible part. I mean I'll bet on some low odds but let's just say you "win" and get some *****ty shock land instead of that Arid Mesa.
