Is there an app that lets you read old issues of comics? I feel like I'd be okay getting into comics if I could read some of them for free, like I do with Manga. Right now, the newest additions to my ever growing reading list are Boku no Hero Academia (think Sky High but not *****ty) and Assassination Classroom (which despite it's goofy premise, recently almost brought me to the point of tears.)
So, there is Comixology, which is the only comic book app on the market, all the publishers have their comics up here.
Marvel also has a netflix-like subscription service which has thousands of back issues.
Some of the larger
Although I read most of mine on Comixology.com now. It gets ridiculous trying to store comics otherwise.
Amen! I have grown so dependent on my tablet. Especially since there are books that I like so much that I only like to read them when I have a few saved up (Saga, Lazarus...a lot of Image books)
I, for one, much prefer the Japanese Anime than the America "Comics" (I can't stand Manga or Comics, but Anime is a medium I can pay attention to) but I much rather follow them by reading the articles on their wikias.
I'm beginning to think I have issues.
You should check out Wayward, from Image Comics. It is written and illustrated (beautifully) by two westerners, but the author at least has spent a siginificant part of his life in Japan and has devoted a lot of time to studying Japanese culture (as evidenced by the back matter in each issue). The first arc is about an Irish girl who goes to life in modern urban Japan and discovers that the myths of Japanese spirituality are alive and well. So good.
I read way too many books a week.
If any of you have spent time in your life playing in a D&D or other high fantasy RPG then you should check out Rat Queens. It is so funny, bawdy, and violent, but more importantly it is like someone made a comic using your game sessions. The references are spot on without being to upfront, and the characters are just phenomenal. It is also a book with most of the strong characters being women. There are moments when their sex is a factor in the story- mostly when there is downtime and they are dealing with lunk heads, but most of the time they are just kicking ass and being hilarious.
Bought a new house on Thursday. More correctly, a piece of land on which to build a house. It's basically the same square footage that we're currently in (under 100sqft more), but much more efficiently used. The second floor is my combined office/RPG Pit/home theater/game room--measuring a tidy 760 square feet. It will be the nerd space from hell.
Today's story.... We are on top of a small volcano looking down into a crater and out across the cascade mountains. The view is amazing... big snow covered volcanoes all over the place.
The mother in law (MiL) sees a couple walking up towards where we were standing (along with everyone else because it's a conical volcano and there's not a lot of places to be on the top. The couple is two women, one trans, and my MiL asks them "So, are you GUYS sisters?" - emphasizing the gendered pronoun. One of them says, "no, we are partners" and tries to walk away. The MiL then says "Oh, I seeeeeeee" I feel so bad for anyone who gets stuck in snare of social awkwardness. Even the Father in Law knew that she ****ed
FiL: "dammit Sherry, why'd you have to go run your damn mouth. What they are is none of your business"
MIL: "But I was curious."
FiL: "Who cares if you are curious? Stop being a child."
The whole time I wanted to die. Later we were at the top of Paulina Peak (another volcano) and she inexplicably starts talking to an English speaking Chinese family in baby talk. WTF?!

I was thinking your MiL and I might enjoy a pot of tea should our paths ever cross, but now…I think I'd want something stronger just to get through the interaction.
Was there any discernible reason for the baby talk?

Personally I guess sit down and separately write out the pros and cons to each and decide which fits what you are looking for more based on wants or dislikes that show up for each.

I didn't take any. But if you google Lava Butte, Oregon you can see a bunch of stuff that explains why NASA sent astronauts here before they landed on the moon... barren wasteland. And then BAM mountains.

I am glad people welcome curiosity, but when you are your partner are holding hands talking quietly on top of a little volcano I will never assume that you are wanting to educate rednecks that look like Easter eggs who clearly don't have boundaries and clearly just want to reduce you to an anecdote. I watch her do this all the time. My brother in law is gay and her stories about him completely ignore his gayness unless it's used to tell someone like me how accepting she is of other ideas. It's the same way "I'm not racist because I have a black friend." I want to punch her sometimes... partially because of the quality of content and sometimes because of the sheer quantity. She never stops talking.
Was there any discernible reason for the baby talk?
None except that she thinks of Asians as pets. Or toys. I am still working through this one, but it's only Asian people and she does it every time. It's ******* weird.
Probably good for me not to dwell too much since I still have two days and I am already feeling my sobriety giving up. (Not that I am trying to be sober or anything but while they are here I have to behave.)
How do y'all decide between romantic partners when dating more than one unit at a time?
When I met my wife I was sleeping with 4 women. She lived closest and liked me more than the others. At the time I didn't need much more than that we weed the others out. In the beginning superficial or lazy reasons aren't necessarily bad.

Whenever I am faced with a difficult life decision I just ask myself "What would Eric Cartman do"
In this case string both along as long as possible then pick the one who makes the most money.

One of the girls I was dating when I met my wife dumped me because "my ex moved back into town and he makes more money than you." For two seconds I was mad and then immediately realized that I was totally cool with that. In high school idealism killed practicality, but in my mid twenties I saw that being homeless was a huge turn off.

"Wanting to," no, but I consider educating anyone better than continued ignorance ==> fear ==> violence. Yes, it is exhausting sometimes, but I don't think that responding to respectful curiosity, or even non-respectful curiosity, with anger does much good. One of the most important lessons I've learned in leadership development is that when confronted with a hostile audience, it's good to remember that they're not the only ones observing the exchange. So, by responding calmly in the face of hostility, one can connect with and/or educate (possibly silent) onlookers in the wider audience. Folks who are marginalized have a right to be angry, but the expression of that anger can have the opposite effect from the one intended for longer-term goals. Expressing anger can be one of the fastest ways to escalate conflict or shut down communication.

Thanks, I needed this perspective. I'm trying to be "fair" and quantify (some) things that are challenging, if not impossible, to quantify. However, you're right, that's not necessarily the only good way to go about this. One of the units does live closer, and research has shown that location is an important factor in a match. Thanks again, Galspanic!

My dating philosophies seem to be very different from yours gals lol. There is some truth to what you are saying but the idea of sleeping with 4 different people at the same time sounds like a hell of a lot of work...

I approach it from another perspective. If you're an ******** that can't be faithful to me now, who's to say you won't decide to be unfaithful to me later on? I guess I'm just old-fashioned though.

I fall into the same boat. I can see some merit in Gals' approach in that you get to test the waters with several and pick the one you want but I would not be amused to be on the other side of that tactic.

I mean, if I was dating two girls at once and they each knew that they weren't the only girl I was dating, then I'm not lying to them. I still don't agree with that but you aren't really hurting anyone. But when they each think they're in a monotonous relationship? Yeah you're a jerk.
That should probably be monogamous but spell check didn't want to help.

I'd have to agree with ISBP and Cryo. The idea of sleeping around lots sounds awesome, and I thought I'd love it. I was even fine casually dating multiple people. But when it came to impersonal sex, I just couldn't. Something was missing, to the point where I'd rather sleep beside someone than with someone.
