So many people think troll decks are hilarious, and unique, when in reality, there are so many I've seen 4 man pods where 3 guys played chaos decks without prior knowledge of the others.
Whenever I play with group hug or chaos decks, I play my most competitive of decks and always seek to kill them first. They always complain. I should answer something like "you said you weren't even trying to win anyways."
Man, people hate Jace so much for no real reason. It's equal parts funny and sad to see such vitriol for a tcg character. More so when the dislike is completely unfounded (lol arrogance for Jace)
Lili needs a LOT of work to be humanized. She was decent in Agents of Artifice but in every other showing of her as a character she's been nothing but a miserable self-absorbed monster. At least Ob Nixilis revels in his nihilism to be interesting.
Gideon for all we've seen has very little about him beyond The Purifying Fire (which they seem to be considering less and less canon for some unknown reason). Lots of potential with him. And while he does work WITH the Boros he is very different. His lore has him hate pyromancy and red mana as a whole.
Nissa for all her whiny screwups is a somewhat cohesive character. Her honest racism and xenophobia are a realistic negative trait and allows for growth, something many of the walkers lack.
I don't hate Jace as a character, I just don't relate in any way to him. I think he is overrated as a character. Honestly, I really wish they would just axe all 5 of the originally made planeswalker characters (the ones they first made into walker cards) because I am just sick of them. Ajani as a character and what his cards do are just usually bad. Chandra has a bit of a crisis which is that the things she does rarely translates into a good card. I think the BUG original walkers are the ones who have had the most success. When you look at the red and white walkers that are not the core 5 they tend to do quite well but the core ones for red and white have an issue with their design and what they tend to do.
For what its worth, I am actually looking forward to the origins version of Jace as I think I am going to try to use him in standard for my collected company deck. It will be one of very very few times where I plan to play with Jace in standard.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.

Okay, can someone tell me why the hell they're actually doing a FFVII remake? Is it because the characters look all blocky? So freaking what? It's got character and, if you're a typical childhood fan, nostalgia. I really sort of hate the doll-like aesthetic of Advent Children. Am I the only one?
I'm also worried they'll keep crawling-in-my-skiiiiiin Cloud rather than going back to the original quirky, deadpan, personality disorder Cloud.
About the only thing I'm really looking forward to is the redone soundtrack.
Because I can and not everyone finds making and running a competitive deck to be fun
There's a HUGE difference between not trying to win and intentionally trolling the table. Even when done in good spirits, it can still completely ruin people's play experience.

I get that. I don't actually like playing hyper competitive decks with hyper competitive people, my idea game is 4 decks that are tuned with a fairly interesting theme that duke it out where everyone has answers to stuff others do.
Then comes along the hyper competitive dude with his BUG control/combo that wipes out the table.
Then comes along the group hug guy with his pheldagriph deck that ruins the game.
Then comes along the chaos deck guy with his zedruu deck that makes me want to flip the table.
And then I start thinking of how much I wish I also had a hyper competitive deck. For one of those games.
I agree, a Group Hug, Chaos, or other "Griefer" deck generally ruins a game even more than a competitive list does. At least, when playing against a competitive list, you know that they're probably going to win because they want to. When you're playing in a game with dedicated Hug or Chaos, someone is going to win basically off of a coin flip.

While true, we don't have any knowledge about his playgroup, so as far as we know, this is cool with them.
I generally just figure that people who build Chaos/hug/slug/troll/an thing really decks will work it out with their group one way or another.
You know how certain people (specially the newer/noobier ones) tend to find certain things a baseline of what you should have?
Like I can ramp a ***** ton and stopping me is unfair. Or mana rocks aren't fair game for artifact destruction.
You know the type, creatures are meant to be killed, so when they die they don't get upset, but if you kill their Phyrexian Arena "wtf". The Phyrexian Arena is basically a base state that every game requires. They should always tutor for Phyrexian Arena and you shouldn't do anything about it. Some decks use their general as that condition, like "my deck doesn't work without the commander".
And it kinda morphs into a bit crazier things. "Why do you guys always kill my creatures, my deck is mostly equipment"; "Why do you always kill Kaalia"; "You can't kill my pillow fort cards".
Well in the new playgroup I've joined the "Cabal Coffers"+"Urborg" is one.
One guy has "Doubling Season" and "Tamiyo Ult". As one of his conditions. Every game, he doesn't start "playing" until that point. He plays bad decks and doesn't do much (except ramp a lot), so we feel bad taking him out early. Then he Doubling Seasons, Tamiyo and usually has counter backup. Every once in a while, it sneaks through (I'm lying, it often sneaks through, I'm the only one that plays control, you only have to wait for a turn when another guy forces me to tap out, plus I don't tend to run more than 10 counters per deck).
A while ago I couldn't stop it, but then dropped a Rest in Piece right after. Now I'm considering running Extract effects in my next deck (I'll remove Doubling Season, Tamiyo, and your Cabal Coffers, Chromatic Lantern for your incredibly greedy mana base). I know people won't like it, but I wonder what reaction I'll get. Is it a "You're ruining the game, those cards are unfun" or "Not cool, why are you targeting me?".

I need to make an even more competitive deck.

By telling them that if they bring another coin flip deck they won't be asked back. Works for us.

It's worse than that. It rewards sloppy play and poor deck building.

Don't look at me, I KNOW that. I also understand why people would want to play a deck like that though too.

Hey everyone, just pause the game for 1 minute while I figure out if there's a number of permanents divisible by four in play.
Now do it again on every one of my turns until I decide to do this.
