I like new Daybreak art over Caveman Jesus, honestly.
It saddens me that we will never get a Magic card depicting a character officially named Caveman Jesus. If they printed that, I'd play it just because. Assuming he was legendary, I'd make a Caveman Jesus deck, for sure.
Just got back from voting. Alberta's going through a bit of a miniature "renaissance" right now as we're finally fed up with the Progressive Conservative party, who've been running the province since the early seventies (as opposed to all other provinces, which have had a regime change in at least the last ten years).
I'm not as excited as some of my friends as I think the NDP (basically centre-left) will be largely same-*****-different-pile, but a couple bits of their platform have me hopeful, and I really like the cut of their leader's jib.
Big election party tonight so that should be fun. Stocked up on some cool beer.

How does a Progressive Conservative party work? Those words mean the opposite thing.
Indeed. It was a cynical and guileless attempt to draw in centrist and right-of-center voters while still courting the far right, and the name has since stuck. They grew as a more moderate alternative to the Reform Party (the party of farmers and other frightened white people) once conservatives began to realize that Canada, as a whole, isn't particularly conservative.
I teach at a college and don't even know if I'm employed in 4 weeks. I envy you guys.
Also, I'm playing a hardcore game of "where'd that fart come from?" right now. It smells like rotten sushi but I didn't eat anything that should've caused this room clearing odor. Ugh.

It's kinda funny, I'm really agaisnt a lot of conservative ideals, and so is my entourage. To us, the Albertans seems like horribly missguided people who are way to right wing for any one's good. But the way you say it, it seems they're "improving". It's like I'm trying low in salt butter and complaining that it has too much salt.
Unbelievable. BOTH the NDP and the Flames won tonight. Drunk and ecstatic. Very exciting times. I'm not normally a nationalistic (provincialistic?) guy but I'm feeling a lot of pride tonight.

The thing is, by most measures, Albertans really aren't that conservative. That's mostly a stereotype born of Vancouverite and Torontonian schadenfreude. They're not socially conservative; I'm a field consultant so I meet a lot of rough, small-town types and even they generally don't have a problem with two dudes *******. They're not even fiscally all that conservative; even Wildrosers like my father generally agree with a healthy tax infrastructure for public health and nanny-state solutions to, ie., keeping classroom sizes below thirty kids. It's just that the PCs are a "big tent" party whom people vote for more as a family ritual than an ideological exercise. At least, that's always how I've sort of felt, and I feel the results tonight support this.
well i got my classes all set to go for when school starts in august
Isn't that just the best feeling. Any of them looking to be especially fun?
Here are the classes i'm taking:
Beginning Ceramics I ( the adviser picked it,and i was like "sure why not" lol)
Basic Computer Skills I
English Composition
Survey of US Hist Since 1877

There is a 50/50 chance that will be the hardest class you have next semester. People walk into art classes all the time thinking they will be a cake walk, and depending on the instructor and program, it might be a gauntlet. When I taught for CU - Boulder we'd have 7th and 8th semester science majors come into our classes all the time and walk away with an Incomplete. So so much "Oh dear god what have I done?" And with ceramics you can't really fake that or work on it at home in your free time.

Yeah,i figure it and English comp will be the most challenging for me,what's funny is that roughly 10 yrs ago i took Basic Computer Skills under a BEAS 151 heading and got a B, the adviser said that taking CIT 101 Basic Computer Skills I ,would change the grade i got in a keyboarding class which would bring my GPA of 2.0 up.
MM2 was looking so good, then they announced Kamigawa reprints :/
Honestly, the commons and uncommons don't matter so much, and the only rare from that block thus far is Kiki, who is a fine reprint. At least we (probably) won't get all the Spirit Dragons again.

As someone, who played extensively drafts back then: Oh God, not Splice into Arcana again... Do other people evaluate them different? I'm curious.
Splice isn't so bad if they are mostly taking the best of those effects. Hikari, Twilight Guardian can in fact be played just as a 4/4 for 3WW with flying and left at that. Its not so bad to do splice so long as its sort of contained and or it has strong synergy with what they include. Its issue in the past was that there was little of it and it had more chaff than good stuff. If you just include the best of it I doubt it will be an issue.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
Necroskitter, bounce lands, tezzeret.. everything they're spoiling is stuff I need for decks and/or want foils of. I might have to see about picking up a box when it comes out. Heck, might even see about a release day event if there are some. This set's looking excellent.

Now just to see the Swords get reprinted!
Swords are all but confirmed not in, as there's only one Mythic slot left and it's likely to be Elesh Norn.

Yep. So definitely no Swords, as MM1 shows that they're all Mythic now. I don't really see them downshifting those because they're about the best thing you could play in limited.
