What Mono Red Commander do you buy when you don't know which one to use?
All of them.
IMO by this point mono-red is actually very good but has to be built pretty specifically to its commander. Purph, Krenko, Godo, Kiki, Norin, Feldon, and [Insert Artifact Commander Here] are all good decks but I wouldn't build any of them similarly.
It's not like MBC where it's the exact same deck and you can put literally anything at the helm and have it play the same way.

Any of them notable?
A lot of them are.
Red doesn't have bad commanders. I don't know what it is, but I'm getting EDHually frustrated in that my favorite color has some of the least me commanders there are.

Oath of the Gatewatch; the set that caused the competitive community to freak out over Basic Lands.
Game 2 he cast Kozilek twice. The second time he gets sac'd to Greater Good. While the shuffle effect was on the stack, Whip of Erebos brings him back. He attacks and sacs him to Greater Good again.
i'm thinking of branching into war games, stuff like Axis and allies or similar
Axis and Allies is really a pretty terrible game. There are basically exactly two ways the game can go: either Germany defeats the early Russian offensive from the East, or the Allies win. The game takes many hours but is basically decided in the first half an hour based on how well those early fights go.
well, I own the D-day game, and i used axis and allies as an example. I plan to finally get twilight struggle which is a cold war card based game.
It's weird, I read "cold war based card game" and I immediately thought of a Legacy Mono-U Control Mirror.
Wonder why?

Oh snap!!! I forgot that. He didn't know the card well because "it's one of those bull***** value cards and I try not to play broken cards."
Pfft...
Right now there are 112 people browsing the Rumor Mill and 111 browsing the Rules Forums. Oh how the mighty have fallen.
Who is (was?) the mighty?
Edit:
This is why I can't build a deck: Started building Glissa, but have two cards in route and still haven't received them. Said eff it, took everything with the intentions of finally building the Sydri deck. Realized I'm missing one card that isn't even critical to the deck (Cloud Key). Stopped building the deck.
This site used to be all about the Rumor Mill and would usually have 2-3 times more viewers than any other forum. We WERE the site for rumors, but now it looks like the EDH Forums are king of the pile.
I am sure it has been mentioned, but it is really driving me crazy that the default art for autocard tags comes up as the promo art sometimes now. Especially frustrating if it is a textless promo of a card whose text you don't have memorized.

Well yes, but it used to be the main point of traffic on the site regardless of spoiler season or not. It was the reason most people were here.
After that it was all about Type 2. When I was an admin we watched standard against EDH and slowly over about a year the numbers crept up in EDH and down in T2. It makes sense though - this site really is for casual gamers and not the pros. I was so glad when we finally stopped that nonsense of trying to appeal to the more competitive players.

We brought it up in the mod lounge just in case.
Thanks, you mods are doing a great job, keep it up.
Speaking of appealing to the Commander demographic, go read my article on the front page and tell me everything I did wrong (and right).
It's about removal, and the tuck changes.
To me, it reads like an encyclopedia article as related by a friend. It's comprehensive in an easy-to-understand voice.
Well done.
Only suggestions I have at this time would be adding an overview at the beginning, listing each type of removal mentioned in the article with an autocard example for each, as well as links to the paragraphs on specific colors (and colorless).

tl;dr.
Another reason why an overview with a hyperlinked table of contents is something to consider.

I think to some extent there has also been more branching out on people covering rumors. In the past it was a little bit of a situation that there was just not really other options as to sites covering rumors.
Also to be fair we put a LOT of effort into the value of our primers which I think has payed for itself several times over. We get a lot of people who come to the site to make primers and because of primers they read.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.

Well, remember when rumors were actually a thing and not just confirmed official spoilers? It wasn't that long ago that we'd see printer leaks, R&D leaks, etc way before spoilers came from WotC. They cracked down on it and now they are in complete control of what the public sees (not complete I'm sure, but the covert ops of yore are gone).
And yes, rumors getting killed by Wizards and other sites getting spoilers is only half of it... EDH got popular and we do a good job covering that topic.
Watching a documentary, while this line comes up (regarding Scandinavia and churches) "They get married in the church, baptize their children there, and bury their parents there. They only ask the priest to tone down that whole Jesus thing, and then everything's hunky dory."

I think wizards has done a lot to watch leaks in the last few years. Smart phones and such are still sort of newer technology and its entirely likely that they have really cracked down on who gets to see the new stuff. Remember when they used to pass god books about the pros??? I sort of suspect that might have also been the source of a lot of leaking just how many eyes used to see this stuff.

That sounds about right. Seattle is said to have a significant Scandinavian cultural influence and it's pretty godless here.
Finally got around to watching Interstellar. Wow. Just wow. A trifle disappointing to have missed it in theatres, but glad to have seen it all the same. Definitely my favorite contemporary science fiction epic. Only Sunshine comes close, and its third act was horrendous. Zimmer's score was phenomenal, too. The whole package, film and music, had me weeping like a child. So beautiful.
