Sure, but when I am making decks (as I am sure is the case with most people) I'm not looking at rarity. In normal EDH rarity doesn't matter.
I can agree with that. I do occasionally have to look at price tags though due to occasionally being limited by what I own / can afford though and price tags are sort of a result of rarity which does tie back to supply / demand though although a bit more indirectly.

I guess that is more or less what I was trying to say before as well. Rarity isn't the sole deciding factor as to why I run a card, and you can't really compare four different four drops to each other, because not every green deck even wants one or any of those particular cards. It all matters on what I need for that spot. In three drop maybe I need a ramp card, so I run a few common ramp creatures/spells, removal? Isn't Beast Within an uncommon? But it is a solid card and a lot of decks run it. And yeah, there are rares and mythics I want to run, but more for their function versus whether or not they are mythic or rare. The guy I am talking about fixates on it, as though the idea of a mythic even existing gets under his skin. As though a deck packed full of them beat him, not the person piloting the deck.
When reviewing cards for a new deck, if I come across one I don't immediately recognize--especially if it's pre-Modern and/or rare--the first thing I do is check its price. That way, I don't set myself up for disappointment later since I'll only consider the card if it's below a certain amount. (As opposed to excitedly testing the card online, liking it, and then getting sticker shock.)

Yeah. Nothing like Marxists ruining our game.
All he has to do is ask me for some cards, he doesn't need to stage a revolt and try to upset the delicate balance that is our playgroup.
There is also a matter of streamlining to be addressed there too. If you use niche cards because they work with a specific deck they can achieve far superior results than a more expensive card that doesn't jive with the deck's strategy. Some cards cost money regardless of rarity just because they are versatile and used in a lot of formats but that doesnt mean a card that costs less for a niche deck or meta cant be more useful.

Yeah. I get the "Haves vs Have Nots" when it comes to all sorts of things. It still annoys me when people throw temper tantrums about stuff like that. You have stuff he doesn't. That doesn't mean he needs to be a punk.

What kinds of decks would you use Moat in? I can honestly say that I might not use it (if I had one). I prefer Sphere of Safety. Let my opponents attack each other! See if I care. I'll be sitting over here pumping out Cleric enchantment tokens.

I commonly run creatureless or extremely creature light decks. If those decks are white I usually run Humility. Moat and Humility are friends.
Plus my cube has a heavy enchantment theme in white so it's good in U/W control decks.

If I had a Moat.... I would probably make a Sigarda all answers style of deck and just troll people with my hexproof commander that flies past the moat lol.
I kind of love trolling people though in more subtle ways than mox does though. I like it to be a long grindy game of them not being able to play their decks over trying to win fast. Ohhhh man, im one of those kind of people aren't I...
Man.......... that sounds kinda fun to make lol.

When did we get the Committee - Commander above our green tag? Makes me want to change my bottom line to Commander - Committee but I really like Do not read this.

Huh, why do you people not have recruiters? I've seen you post about the other things you get...
Heck, I have 2 of em, since judge versions were only $60 a while back.
Oh. I guess that went up. That explains much. Wow. I'm happy now. Kinda makes up for those things that I didn't buy, and are now stupid priced, and I will now never have.
What happened in February/March to make it double (and more)?
For me, it just hasn't been key enough to justify it really. Its a good card for sure, I just haven't felt like I have been missing out on having it enough to justify the cost really. The higher it goes, its just the more reason not to get one for me.

I have a Moat. I run it in a deck that tries really hard to find and protect Humility, then everyone plays draw go until they find Austere Command or I find one of the two or three auras that give me flying and I kill them 3 damage at a time. It's lovely. I'm sure Donald agrees with me.
I have 2/3 of those but they rarely make the cut. I wish people understood how terrible Forcefield is, but what's most baffling about the card is that, in an age of reserve list price surges, Forcefield hasn't changes in years.... Like $80-$1000 for at least the last 5 years. The demand is there. The card is rare as *****. It should fluctuate.

It's harder work convincing people they're wrong all the time.
Sadly, you're right.

I do like Sphere of Safety but lately Mystic Barrier has been a house so I'm running that instead.
EDIT: A specific example would be the Angus deck in my sig.

I have all of these, and a few other high-$ ones you're missing (Time Twister, Mishra's Workshop, Nether Void probably some other stuff).
Agreed that Forcefield is not that good. I'd probably rank these cards:
Imperial Seal
Imperial Recruiter
Moat
Bazaar
Tabernacle
Rolling Earthquake
Abyss
Forcefield
The extra tutors are huge. Moat can shut games down. Bazaar is a crazy engine for all kinds of decks.
My problem is, I'm running out of crazy things to seek. My remaining high-$ EDH wantlist is like...
Ravages of War
Candelabra of Tawnos
And that's about it
