Why would someone cast glistening oil on an enemy kresh? Are they planning to keep him at bay for 13 turns without any creatures dying? I don't get it.
It was a definite misplay. I think she thought he would eventually die of little consequence. I said nothing, but it was not a strong move at all. Super risky with minimal positive outcomes.

I guess the plus side is that chump blocking won't result in more counters for him?
Plus if you're already at 11+ commander damage there's no major downside in that department, or if you're at 10 or less life with no healing.
I recently just did a turn 1 land, Sol Ring, Mana Crypt, turn 2, land, Lurking Predator.
Next turn my opponent cast a Farseek, I flip top of my Library and got Ulvenwald Hydra, then my other opponent played a mana rock, my top library had a Vorinclex.
I managed to quickly beat down 1 of my opponents, and my other 2 opponents just scooped.
Was in a 5player pod that didn't go very well, mostly because i was playing with the mizzix pre-con and 7 or 8 changed cards. Either way, i don't know how this happened, but the other players let me keep a jace's archivist after another player stroked himself a lot. so i cast a windfall, then use the archivists' ability, then molten psyche. everyone's faces went from "oh look at the pre-con trying to play a big-pant play" to "oh wait what does that do again?".
that molten psyche was i THINK the only non-pre-con card i drew that game. and man, that was and still is an awesome card. especially when playing in a group that loves to stroke themselves.

Molten Psyche is one of the best Metalcraft cards out there, particularly if your deck likes to punish others for drawing(Nekusar, Niv 1.0, etc). I've made too many big, out of nowhere plays with it in my Niv deck to EVER consider pulling it.
In the pre-Nekusar days, I had a Melek, Izzet Paragon deck that's main wincon was chaining copied wheels into a Molten Psyche (Library of Leng was an allstar to ensure I never had to discard the wincon). Was pretty fun, although once said Mindrazer came out, everyone and his dog had wheels.dec, and more effective ones at that, so I retired Melek.
Meanwhile, Ghave had tried to combo a couple times and been held of with counters and bounce by Nezahal. While I only had 6 lands, the other players had 10-15 mana each. Ghave has a phyrexian altar that came back after the last mass bounce. Nezahal has magus of the unseen to steal it and distrupt if needed.
Ghave managed to resolve Mikaus, the unhallowed, with some protection, noting that he was a mana short. Nezahal and I are concerned, and draw/pass to have responses. Notably, I have resolved edgewalker, letting me get to 6 apostles with lands untapped. Triskelion is cast, resolves, and I ask for each activation to be put onto the stack instead of short-cutting.
Three damage to players and a sacrifice for mana later, we have moved to the undying trigger. I respond by activating shadowborn apostle, but I know that all my removal is in my hand, too expensive to be cast. Instead, I put demon of dark schemes onto the battlefield. The EtB trigger kills edgewalker, birds of paradise, magus of the unseen, and pestermite, getting 4 energy. I use the energy to reaminate triskellion, then removal all three counters to finish killing Mikaus.
Several turns later, after attacking with a couple demons and reanimating edgewalker, opposing life totals are 18 and 20. At the end of Nezahal's turn, I use 8 energy to reanimate birds of paradise and magus of the unseen. I use those to steal phyrexian altar. I sacrifice 7 apostles for mana, and target Nezahal (at 20 life) with all 7 Athreos triggers. He spends 18 life and I return one apostle. Nezahal can no longer pay 3 life to stop the combo as I cast apostles for free and loop for mana and energy. Razaketh, the foulblooded finds debt to the deathless for the win off of three opponents cards.
So I was playing the Zada&Tazri deck in my signature against a Zedruu, Zacama and Inalla.
The Zacama player had just killed my The Locust God and a Token and a Crystal Shard, Zada was in my hand from a Snap and I have a decent size board. He had a Mirari's Wake and it felt like the deck was on the verge of becoming very ridiculous
the Inalla player doesn't do anything and on my turn to deal with the Zacama and hopefully get some answers I cast The Great Aurora, both the Blue decks are in not the best spot so it resolves and I count up 27 things with 2 mana floating.
Zedruu casts Commander, the Zacama player casts a Grand Abolisher and, on the Inalla player upkeep I cast Benevolent Offering giving the Zedruu player and me 3 spirits and gaining some life.
One of the craziest plays that I have ever seen happen was in a game several years ago where my opponent was at 4 life with a helix pinnacle sitting on 80 something. I had cast white suns zenith for 2 had an Ajani, Caller of the Pride at 5 and was prepared to swing for lethal. He goes about his turn and creates an absurd amount of mana, casts Hundred Handed One and monstifies it and pumps the rest into the pinnacle putting it into the 90s. I’m playing green white and the deck didn’t have much removal. I thought that the only way I get through it is to trample over enough damage. I draw for the turn and find the card Plummet. I sit for a moment and observe the board. I activate Ajani’s ability giving his creature flying and then cast plummet on it. That card was almost the only card I could’ve drawn to win the game in that situation.
Me with my Breya deck against my friend's Tasigur deck, with the top decked Mana Crypt on turn 3, I cast Mirrorworks, turn 4 I cast Mycosynth Lattice, and turn 5 I cast Anointed Procession with the mana able to copy it since the Lattice is making all permanents artifacts, getting me two more. This gives 8 times the number of tokens for each one normally made. Turn 6 I drop Command Tower, copy it getting 8 of them, cast a free Mycosynth Golem, copy it, and cast Breya, letting the original go to the command zone and getting 9 Breya triggers, each of which makes 16 tokens, for 144 flying thopters. My friend did have Liliana Vess on board, but no way to draw the card to tutor for an answer, and he scooped.
I had Wort, two Goblin Warrior tokens, and a couple other creatures along with Chandra, the Firebrand at 4 loyalty. My two opponents each had 2-3 nontokens, and one opponent had a single Soldier token.
Rude Awakening conspired, 20 mana floating after both are done resolving (plus my untapped lands)
Activate the -2 ability on Chandra Parallel Evolution conspired
After letting one of the three Parallel Evolutions resolve to get more tokens, Increasing Vengeance conspired
After another Evolution resolves, flashback IV conspired
After all the Parallel Evolutions resolve, flashback Parallel Evolution conspired.
I started the turn with 2 tokens. I ended the turn with over 2000. My opponent with the Soldier token also had hundreds of 1/1s, but there was no way for them to get through my goblins, and neither opponent had a board-wipe in hand.
Playing my Rasputin Dreamweaver blink deck on Sunday, I got down an early Ephara and was generating tons of card advantage all game. The Animar player was hated off the table, and then I managed to get the ultimate on Venser, the Sojourner. My spells were picking off threats and the Inalla player's blue mana sources, but I had a lot of things to go after, since the 5C player had hit me with Villainous Wealth for 10 the turn before.
A few turns later, the 5C player is at 1, but managed to recur his Villainous Wealth, cast it for 9, and copy it when I had 15 cards left in my library. He also hit my Naru Meha, Master Wizard with the first one, to hit the Inalla player for 9 as well.
I start my turn with an empty library. Ephara trigger on the stack, cast Blue Sun's Zenith for X=0. Draw a card from Ephara, cast USZ for X=0 again. Use up my Karn Liberated to exile my Ephara, -1 Venser (who is still alive, somehow) to make my board unblockable, kill the 5C player and knock the Inalla player down to 9. Inalla reanimates my Stonehorn Dignitary to buy himself a turn. I cast USZ for 0 again, take my turn, +2 Venser to get my Dignitary back, and Inalla scoops after failing to draw an answer.
T1: city of brass
at the end of my opponent's turn, demonic consultation, naming mana vault (i had master of cruelties in hand, so its the easiest way to cast him for a quick game). exiled my entire library, since mana vault was 3 or 4 from the top.
T2: draw trigger, can't draw, lose the game.
during the same afternoon, somewhere mid-game with the same deck (I'm on 15 or so, other players between 35 to 40 life.):
The other day we had a four player game. At some point, the Neheb, The Eternal player cast Commune with Lava for 7, and revealed seven mountains. We had a good chuckle. The Rakdos player, who had laughed the loudest, went on to cast a 7 cmc spell in his turn with Sunbird's Invocation on the battlefield - only to reveal 3 Mountains and 4 Swamps.

Still convinced the guy on Beseech the Queen is wearing a Mitra-type hat. Wake up sheeple!
On Thursday I had a game where my opponent was Playing Jhoira of the Ghitu and a few turns in sent her out and suspended Apocalypse. So we had four turns now to set up something to stop our fields from being exiled.
I cast my general but unfortunately do not have haste, so i have to wait a turn to attack Jhoira player. Turns goes around and he suspends Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur Dick move and he has to pay now.
i draw Atarka, world render, play him and swing with my general. General is bounced with Cyclonic rift (yet i still get Ur dragons effect and put out Utvara Hellkite I also drew Kolghan so with my 4 mana i play him. I recast and attempt to get going again. (Since i used my Cavern of Souls on Atarka, Ur dragon gets countered.
I'm annoyed now, no answers and i won't be able to kill him as I am out of mana this turn. Turn goes around again, He suspends another card, i Cast my general and have only 3 mana left. But i drew a card that will help me not only survive but also win. I still have mirari's wake out and an Untapped scrubland and lotus petal. Sadly that is all the mana I have, but also all the mana i need. I swing again, General is blocked, but i got 4 triggers off of my general, and I send out Ojutai, Soul of winter and get 4 dragon tokens.
I pass the turn to my opponent again he suspends another card and returns C.rift to his hand, he has 7 mana untapped, perfect.
My turn, i full swing at him, he uses c rift. i use teferi's protection ins response. he takes no damage but also has no answers. Turn gets passed to my left, passed to jhoira player. Game over, Apaocalypse goes off. i keep my board, and they now have NOTHING.
They scoop it up and I go home for the night as I work the next day.
Radha animates his lands with Sylvan Awakening and casts Aggravated Assault, ready for infinite combat steps. K&T taxes the AA with Mystic Confluence; Radha has enough mana to keep his enchantment, but not enough to then go infinite afterwards.
The turn cycle passes around, and next turn Radha casts Summoner's Pact to tutor Eternal Witness, to get back Sylvan Awakening, and he does it again. This time he successfully gets his infinite combats going, and he even suits up Radha with Runes of the Deus.
Radha attacks me for a bunch of damage. Teferi's Protection.
Radha attacks Sigarda for a bunch of damage. Comeuppance.
Re-cast Radha, attacks K&T. Cyclonic Rift overloaded. The land-creatures get through, but Radha doesn't have enough mana to re-cast his board and activate Aggravated Assault, and a single punch from the lands isn't lethal on K&T.
We didn't actually finish the game, because the store was closing, but it was absolutely hilarious that when Radha finally got to play his infinite combo, all three opponents had the means to survive it.
By my count those would be 6/6 Pegasus tokens. Still impressive but not 52/52s. You only put one counter on creatures per life gaining event for Archangel, not one for each life gained.

You know, when I was in the middle of announcing what I was doing everyone just scooped and didn't even question it. The game before, I had went off with Cradle of Vitality which actually gives you a counter for each life gained (albeit to only a single creature), so we just all assumed that I was doing it right....
Fair enough. Not sure how some of you guys on this thread remember every little detail in a game. Sounds like you had a pretty good evening overall.
When it happened, I took the time to figure it out and write it down knowing that I was going to post it here. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to recreate the whole thing from memory.

Zedruu casts Commander, the Zacama player casts a Grand Abolisher and, on the Inalla player upkeep I cast Benevolent Offering giving the Zedruu player and me 3 spirits and gaining some life.
My turn I cast Zada, Hedron Grinder which draws a Counterspell which I Venser, Shaper Savant I then cast Crimson Wisps (7 Creatures) followed by a Exploration 2 lands, and a Spontaneous Generation for 15.
