Had a pretty crazy win last night even if the play wasn't crazy. Playing my Sek'Kuar, Deathkeeper deck and at the end staring down a full board from a Maelstrom Wanderer deck and a Blightsteel from Daretti. Knowing the Wanderer has no counterspells cast Massacre Wurm killing 17 of Wanderer's creatures taking him out. Before this Daretti had scooped but had Delirium in hand for his turn. Moral of the story is don't underestimate the guy wearing a goat on his head.
4 player pod consisting of Narset, Omnath 2.0, Deretti, and me the Kaalia player. Had Avacyn, Angel of Hope and Lightning Greaves opening hand, and was immediately painted a target. My playgroup doesn't like her very much. So I get slowed down a bit, but managed to pop her off on turn 6. A few turns earlier I drew Armageddon, so I was already on pace to win provided my stuff went through. Next turn I draw Iona, Shield of Emeria, play Armageddon, it goes through. The Daretti player was about to scoop until someone pointed out he had Crucible of Worlds in play. I kept my smirk hidden and swung with Kaalia dropping Iona declaring red. Daretti and Narset player scoop. After that, I just beat the Omnath player to death for a quick 10 minute win.
Another would-be-win with my Rakdos, Lord of Riots deck ended up in a Tragic Arrogance the next turn. Pathrazer of Ulamog, It That Betrays, and another Eldrazi that I can't remember ready to swing next turn. In the end I could of won, but ended up misplaying and getting beat by my own Kaalia deck.

[Pr]Jaya | Estrid | A rotating cast of decks built out of my box.
Phelddagrif player decides to shake things up by casting Hive Mind followed by a Fascination (choosing the card draw mode) for X=7. Then he plays Tempting Wurm. Naturally, Masumaro and I both dump as much of our hands as possible and a mess of ETB triggers happen.
I can't remember every single card in play, but here are the relevant details:
1) Masumaro's turn came next, before mine
2) Masumaro dropped Nacatl War-Pride off the Tempting Wurm
3) Masumaro dropped Bow of Nylea off the Tempting Wurm
4) Masumaro dropped Nylea, God of the Hunt off the Tempting Wurm
5) Masumaro dropped Elemental Bond off the Tempting Wurm
6) Masumaro's deck had 33 cards left in it after resolving all the triggers
7) I had about 20 creatures in play after all this, most of which are summoning sick
8) I had a Phenax, God of Deception in play
Masumaro's turn comes and he attacks me with the Nacatl War-Pride, which creates an army of 20 3/3 deathtouch trample tokens that each must be blocked by a single creature--that's 2 trample damage per copy, enough to kill me. So in response to the trigger, I tap my non-summoning sick creatures to mill 14 cards from Masumaro out of spite, then start to put away my cards due to the imminent lethal damage coming my way.
It was only a couple minutes later, after we declared Masumaro the winner, that we all realized that the Nacatl War-Pride tokens have 3 power, and Elemental Bond's card draw is not optional, meaning Masumaro actually killed himself!
It's been a few years back, but I was in a 3-man pod at the LGS, running Kresh the Bloodbraided vs Captain Sisay vs Sliver Overlord. The Sisay deck was run by an old friend of mine whom I had introduced to EDH, and I had helped him turn it into a decent beast. The Sliver player was a regular at the shop, and was fond of crushing tables.
Slivers stumbled *hard* on mana -- he had a Mana Echoes in play from about turn 8 or so, but couldn't get the mana to run out Overlord or Queen; I may have "helped" keep him off one color or another, but I am not sure. I had a decent "midrange"-y progression, but the only relevant thing I had done was to chip Sisay with a Sakura-Tribe Elder the turn before he ran out Sisay and Greavesed her. Sisay proceeds to tutor up Sigarda, Avacyn, Vorinclex, and some other nasties while riding strong draws and a Reliquary Tower. I wiped the board a few times to mitigate the damage I was taking, so I made Sisay work pretty hard to do anything, but I'm sitting at the low twenties or high teens. Slivers was having it so tough that we largely ignored him the whole game -- he *might* have been at 30 life or so when the predictable and "unstoppable" happened . . . .
Sisay tutors up the green Myojin, and hardcasts. Naturally, the counter gets popped, and the invulnerable lockdown horde hits the table. His team is indestructible, can't be forced to be sacrificed, can't take -1/-1 counters (blanking the BSZ I had been holding onto; I didn't know he had Melira), and with the Asceticism he had on the table, I wouldn't be able to interact even if I topdecked something useful. I had a Dragon Broodmother, two of her tokens at 3/3, Kresh, and probably a Borderland Ranger or something. Oh, and Urabrask, too. Kresh is probably at 13/13, but is pure vanilla otherwise. Seems completely hopeless, as I have no sac outlet on the board, and the Fling in my hand (from turn 2) doesn't represent enough damage to save me from the Selesnya Stompdown (he's still at 39, having chump-blocked everything after my STE hit him). The turn passes, and during my upkeep triggers I am trying to figure out what I need to do with the devour off my new dragon-baby -- I decide to try to make a window for Slivers to get the kill. I devour both 3/3 dragons, the Broodmother, Urabrask, and the Ranger, making the baby an 11/11, and getting Kresh to 29/29. I'm getting the crazy eyes, at this point, from both opponents and about 5 people kibitzing. Draw step -- Vampire Aristocrat!! Cast her, sac the token *and* the Aristocrat (to herself, laudable), and Fling Kresh for lethal. My Sisay pal nearly flipped the table -- he couldn't believe it.
Two turns later, Slivers starts to get something running, but the BSZ saves me for a turn, and I kill him, somehow, thereafter.
Now, I've told this story after 5+ years of separation from the moment, and I have made an error in the retelling. This version has the Fling mounting to a damage total of 44, but I recall it was for exactsies back then (39). Maybe I didn't sac things to the devour trigger as I indicated; I really can't recall. Nevertheless, every time I see him, the Sisay driver gripes about the stolen win . . . . Priceless.
And THEN!! There's the most jerk-faced play I've ever seen -- 5- or 6-man pod in my living room, and it's been a wild, swingy game. I don't recall all the decks being run, but "Tron" was running his Olivia Voldaren deck (Regular quote: "I dunno if this is gonna work, but . . . ." and wins the game.), and "Narsus" was running my Ob Nixilis, the Fallen MBC deck. Ob has the Coffers/Vesuva pairing running (this was before Thespian's Stage), a Mirari on the table, and had just chained Increasing Ambition into Diabolic Revelation the previous turn; Olivia has wrathed, wrathed, and wrathed some more, all while getting most everyone in the low teens -- and he's in a strong position. "Narsus" untaps, and Miraris a kicked Sadistic Sacrament, pointing both at "Tron". Wicked.
The best part? When "Tron" got his next turn, he finally hit an Armillary Sphere, and went ahead and filtered out his lands. While he's searching, he notices something . . . . "You !#@$#%$^%& !!!!" he shouts. "You just left me tutors and lands!!"
And there was the time that "Narsus" quietly sat at the table while "Bear", "Obstinus", and I duked it out till "Obstinus" got put out (he hit two lands over 10+ turns), and "Bear" and I are beating each other to death. He lays out Academy Ruins next to his Rings of the Brighthearth . . . . and he's got 14 mana . . . . Y'all know what that means?
His team is indestructible, can't be forced to be sacrificed, can't take -1/-1 counters (blanking the BSZ I had been holding onto; I didn't know he had Melira), and with the Asceticism he had on the table, I wouldn't be able to interact even if I topdecked something useful.
Not that it's relevant since the card is literally every color you weren't playing, but it's situations like this that I'm glad I have The Great Equalizer.

Zedruu: "This deck is not only able to go crazy - it also needs to do so."
Possibly one of my favorite counter wars was with my Memnarch deck against a simic Zagana deck. I have have Future Sight on the board, and my combo ready to take off. I play Palinchron with three mana open for a counter spell, as I know he has a Plasm Capture in hand, with nine open. He plays the Plasm Capture. I use Counterspell, he taps two for his own Counterspell, I hit that with Pact of Negation, he uses his remaining mana for a Forbid, I respond by casting Mystical Tutor, putting Foil on top of my deck. I discard one card and the Island, then cast Foil. The counter war finally ends, and I combo off.
I've had quite a few counter wars, but none quite like that.

That reminds me of a very odd play I had, my Melek against a pretty typical Zur deck. I had to Force of Will something (maybe Lightning Greaves?) very early, and after a while I passed a turn with three mana up and a Sapphire Medallion. I didn't actually have a counter, but hey, I had nothing better to do with it that turn, I was sitting on FoF and figured I might as well hold the mana up and FoF EOT. Zur had just played Helm of Obedience, but had no Zur and no haste, so I was hoping to find a way to hold him off should he get the mana to recast Zur, but it didn't matter: He showed me the Rest in Peace and asked if I had a counter. Of course, I didn't, but I figured there had to be a way out, I was too clever to lose like this! I figured my best bet was probably hoping to FoF into another free counterspell, but that was a longshot, so I looked at the other cards in my hand... Recall was one. If I had just been a little proactive with it I wouldn't be stuck. The other card was Quicken, which gave me more counters as outs but fewer cards to find them with. I ran the numbers of Quicken vs FoF in my head for a bit, and then been hit with the obvious solution: Quickened, drawing a whatever card, pitching it to the Quickened Recall to recur Force, and exiling FoF to Force the RIP.

I'm playing a medium level Mizzix of the Izmagnus. Control, card draw and a few combo options. Not storm (though I play Mind's Desire). I'm up against Grenzo, a weak Derevi that focuses on doing things with the Isocron Scepter and a Surrak packed with Eldrazi.
Grenzo and Derevi target me hard at first due to reputation/knowledge about me as a player. Meanwhile Surrak is ramping into Eldrazi shenanigans unchecked. I'm also getting unlucky draws and am light on land with no artifact ramp. The Surrak player is foolishly spreading his stuff around so we all get hit by exile, vindicate and annihalator effects. I think I lose 6 permanants.
Eventually the game slows as the others realize they need to switch focus bringing the Eldrazi guy under control. At close to 15 turns in I have maybe 5 lands out and a Thran Dynamo finally.
I manage to get Mizzix out and keep her long enough to get 2 counters. In my hand I have Kozi, Omniscience, Capsize, Aetherize and something else. I also had a Top out and know I have Mana Drain coming.
So I'm starting to think...Drain can get me Omni then Aetherize gets me to 3 counters. 3 counters with Omniscience/Capsize equals unlimited bounce.
Well best laid plans...Mizzix gets removed from on table effects. I'm thinking..."wait and rebuild or go for it..."
I went for it.
-Drain a 5 mana spell.
-Land Omniscience
-Cast Kozi
-hit Time Spiral off Kozi giving me untaps and a new hand
-recast Mizzix from the czone due to the Spiral untaps
-Capsize is gone but I have Wheel of Fortune and Reiterate due to Spiral.
-Cast Wheel giving me 3 XP counters. I can now cast Reiterate unlimited. Decide to just do it twice hoping that seeing 21 cards will be enough
-Don't get to Capsize or infinite mana for Comet Storm
-Do get a Treasure Cruise and Thought Reflection on the last Wheel
-Not there, hit Frantic Search
-Still not there but hit Jace, the Mind Sculptor
-Jace gets me to Merchant Scroll
-Merchant Scroll gets Capsize
-Capsize bounces all permanents I don't control
-Table scoops
Proving yet again the craziness of the 3 XP counter threshold in Mizzix.
There might have actually been more draw after the reiterated wheels...I don't remember what all exactly I had to cast, just that I had to dig like crazy.
This was a while back, but I remember playing a game of Planechase with my Jaya Ballard, Task Mage deck. We were currently at Talon Gates, and on my turn I put into suspension: Sol Ring, Sensei's Divining Top, Basilisk Collar and Goblin Welder. If only I had been playing a Storm deck!
Last night, I got super excited by an awesome play that appeared to me. Early in the game I had Vesuva'd my Mishra's Factory to hit a land drop. At the end of a player's turn, I animated my Vesuva Factory, sacced it to my Goblin Welder to return a Mindstone. Since it was a creature when it died, I exiled my Vesuva onto my Mimic Vat. I activated the vat to put 2 tapped Vesuvas (Kurkesh copied the ability) onto the battlefield, which each copied a Myriad Landscape that another player had just played (Since it was already in the End of Turn, the copies would stay until the next EoT). On my turn, I untapped, played Liquimetal Coating, turned 1 of the lands into an artifact, sacced it and copied it with Kurkesh, and sacced the other normally - I was sadly 1 mana short of copying the liquimetal ability onto the second land, and copying that activation as well... 10 mana, accross 2 turns, for 6 lands... I'll take it. (shame it wasn't 12 for 8). (I did end up losing this game)
In a later game, I killed a person's planeswalker by dropping Bludgeon Brawl, then attacking it with a 1/1 Wasp token wielding its own The Hive.
A series of fun games lead to a couple of these this week.
Game 1:
Nicol Bolas v.7 (me) vs Aurelia vs Niv Mizzet vs Mayael
I had overloaded Cyclonic Rift a couple turns ago so I had a Phyrexian Reclamation and some mana rocks in play, Aurelia had a 4/4 with Sword of the Myriad and some other small critter, and Mayael had only Mayael.
It was late game and Niv was knocked out early due to combo threat. Mayael and I were getting our faces beaten in by Aurelia and I was down to about 7 life. Both of them were swinging at me because I had tried to land a Jin Gitaxias a turn earlier. Bolas was on the field but had been reduced to a 1/1 by Niv's Contagion Engine before he died. Mayael tapped for a Blazing Archon to keep himself alive and then passed to me and I had an idea.
I declined upkeep on Bolas and sent him to the graveyard instead of the command zone, then played a Whip of Erebos and passed. Aurelia swung Myriad at us and I activated the whip to flash Bolas into play as a 7/7 Lifelink creature, putting my life total back to 14. Mayael whiffed and swung his Archon at me, which I ate. Then I spent 1B2 to get my Clever Impersonator back from the graveyard and played it as a copy of the archon. Aurelia couldn't swing so he got killed by Mayael, who played a Stalking Vengeance while I recast Bolas for 10 mana. We durdled for a turn until I cracked an Elixir of Immortality and transmuted Muddle the Mixture to get Cyclonic Rift back. Next turn I rifted his board and smacked him in the face for discard and game.
Game 2:
8 man game with, IIRC, Ertai, the Corrupted (me) Niv combo, Ghave, Aurelia, Maelstrom Wanderer, Drana, Ghoulcaller Ghisa, and Mayael.
Maelstrom went nuts with a turn 4 play for a Purphuros and a mana dork and the table started taking heavy damage. I burned a Demonic Tutor turn 6 for an Arcane Laboratory to shut Wanderer down, and Drana took it kind of personally and murdered the Wanderer player with a Hatred before dying himself on about turn 8. Niv went down early because LOLCOMBO and it became a 5 player game. I had Gift of Immortality on Ertai as sac fuel so I was countering 3U worth of spells a turn and stacking counters on a Calciform Pools. Mayael gets butthurt because of Arcane Lab and every time he gets a good creature out it gets sniped instantly, so he Mayaels up a Bearer of the Heavens. I popped the counters off my land to play a Descendant of Soramaro and leave a couple blue open. It passes back around to Mayael who swings Bearer at Drana, who flashes in a Dictate of Erebos and blocks, forcing a table sac. I sac Ertai, but Mayael opts to sac the Bearer... Kablooie. In response to the trigger I pay 1U for my Soramaro and look at the top 7, putting 3 lands on top. Then the board goes byebye.
We all start topdecking as I get my lands in play plus a Darksteel Ingot that was left. I had been sitting on a Thought Lash in my hand for a long while, and after 8 turns of nothing I get a Diabolic Tutor and cast it for a Laboratory Maniac. Next turn cast Lash. Next turn Maniac, countering a Go for the Throat with Swansong. Next turn decline upkeep on Lash and win.
Third game I lost. but it was amazing. Bolas vs Niv vs Ghave vs Mimeoplasm vs Krenko vs Ghoulcaller Ghisa.
I got a Burnished Hart and a Sword of Feast and Famine early so I was ramping like mad. Niv played a Wheel so I lost a God hand but drew into an Ill-Gotten Gains and cast it, getting Geth's Grimoire, Wit's End, and my Gilded Lotus back. Kept ramping until I had 8 lands, 4 counters on a storage land, and a Lotus in play. I played the Grimoire and on the next turn transmuted Muddle the Mixture for Dragon Tempest. I played Tempest, followed by Bolas, pinged one, swung seven, and drew 14 cards off it. Bolas was killed, and next turn I had the mana to cast Dark Deal, replay him and equip the sword, ping, swing, untap, and cast Wit's End on the last player with any cards. I had 26 cards in hand and a Reliquary Tower out, my opponents were handless and helpless, and I had a Blightsteel Colossus and a Chandra's Ignition in hand with enough mana to cast both next turn. It was gonna be game next turn, but I was tapped out for blue.
Then Niv topdecks Windfall and everything goes to hell! He draws 26 and hard-casts Omniscience and vomits two different infinite combos onto the table for the win. I was laughing too hard to be salty.
As fun as those plays of yours are, I have to ask. Where did you get a Whip of Erebos that allows you to activate it at instant speed? Cause hot dang do I want to get in on that action.

This version has the Fling mounting to a damage total of 44, but I recall it was for exactsies back then (39). Maybe I didn't sac things to the devour trigger as I indicated; I really can't recall. Nevertheless, every time I see him, the Sisay driver gripes about the stolen win . . . . Priceless.
The best part? When "Tron" got his next turn, he finally hit an Armillary Sphere, and went ahead and filtered out his lands. While he's searching, he notices something . . . . "You !#@$#%$^%& !!!!" he shouts. "You just left me tutors and lands!!"
Recurring Mindslaver lock for the win. Ugh.
Not that it's relevant since the card is literally every color you weren't playing, but it's situations like this that I'm glad I have The Great Equalizer.

In that same game, I then took control of the last players commander, Jenara, Asura of War, and did 21+ points of commander damage by equipping her with The Hive, Spawning Pit, Unstable Obelisk, Hedron Archive, Liquimetal Coating, Everflowing Chalice (because I could), Helm of Possession, and the Bludgeon Brawl itself, made into an artifact by the aforementioned Liquimetal Coating.
In the next game, I put a Gauntlet of Might onto a Prototype Portal and ended up with 11 Gauntlet of Mights on the battlefield. With my Caged Sun and Gauntlet of power also both out, each of my Mountains tapped for 14 mana.
