There may be "banned" generals, but not a formal ban list for EDH, only a "can be unfun for others list" . With my playgroup it's a group call. Casual format, play with whatever card, banned or not, and if your play group doesn't like it, either they won't play with you or they run hate to counter said "unfun" card. In my case, they run hate, and etc. Makes for a bit more fun and exicting multiplayer games.
Was testing Adun Oakenshield earlier against a few of my other decks. Layed low for most of the game with Adun out with Grave Pact and greaves dissuading anyone from attacking while I dumped some cards into my yard. After a bit, including a relatively small Genesis Wave that hit nothing but lands, I've got In the Web of War and a couple other things out. I was able to drop Tooth and Nail, pulling out Charnelhoard Wurm and Artisan of Kozilek, bringing back Avenger of Zendikar, making a dozen plants. Swing in with everything for a good chunk of damage, pulling TaN back out with the wurm. Follow it up next turn with TaN for Kiki-Jiki and Primeval Titan, for a ridiculous amount of damage.
Less a crazy play and more the poster child for powerful creatures in Jund colors, but still pretty cool.

However, because players have varied opinions of what constitutes fair and/or fun play, a recommended banned list is maintained to help guide players towards a good social experience.
In particular, after-hours games at Pro Tours and Grand Prix use these rules.
Pretty sure it's a ban list, considering that came from googling "EDH ban list", there's a thread discussing -the banlist-, and it was phrased that way so it encourages house rules.
I have a consecrated sphinx in play, my opponent passes turn to me and I play blue suns zenith for 6 targeting him to draw double. In response he casts plagiarize.

So there was this Emperor EDH game earlier today. Side A was, from left to right, Jenara, Treva, and red Akroma. Side B was Sharuum, Kresh, and Skithiryx. Things didn't start too well, as Sharuum plays a Howling Mine I don't see.
Sharuum gets Open the Vaults, thankfully with no Traumatize. Jenara has a Door of Destinies with eight counters, but Kresh has a Grave Pact keeping board position under control, and I can't deploy creatures fast enough to keep my generals safe. Then I Reap and Sow for Gaea's Cradle and #*$@ gets real.
I end up playing most of my hand, going for Spitting Image on Platinum Angel but he sacrifices it when Kresh triggers Grave Pact. I get Elspeth and pop her off thanks to Doubling Season, gaining a ton of life off Leyline of Vitality, two Soul Warden effects, and an Orochi Hatchery with 55 counters on it.
Then I go for Eldrazi Monument and it gets Spelljacked! I am going to die to general damage unless I get a flying guy...then I realize Treva is indestructible. I swing at Sharuum to make his life total Platinum Angel...then Skith plays Repay in Kind, drawing the game.
TL;DR: I gain 500 life off Soul Warden effects then kith plays Repay in Kind, making everybody's life total negative.

A mere ten days after the Mending, a young knight of Valeron and a young ranger of Eos made a discovery that would change Alara forever.
The board is fairly neutral. Geth and Ashling have no fliers to speak of, so Intet is using them for triggers. Intet has a facedown Morph creature
Intet gets a little power bomb off of a Time Stretch (via General trigger). He decides to try rigging his deck with Top, and sees 2 cards: Genesis Wave and Hive Mind (there's a Grim Monolith there too, just to ramp him a little more). By now, he's got a little over 9 mana, and the Monolith will put that up to 12.
So on his next turn, he draws Genesis Wave, then swings with Intet to get Hive Mind on the table. He tops off for the Monolith and casts it, then passes turn 1. Turn 2, he taps out and drops Genesis Wave for 9, just for fun.
Ashling gets a ton of mountains, a Magebane Armor, and Tower of Fortunes.
Scion (me) gets 3 of the 4 Stars (Keiga, Jugan, Ryusei), my Mana Reflection, and a 3 lands (2 nonpermanent spells get discarded).
Intet gets another Mana Reflection, Leyline of Sigularity (opts to get rid of it for infinite mana next turn), one Island, and nothing else relevant.
Geth gets bad luck. 5 Sorceries, 2 Swamps, a Nekrataal, and Phage the Untouchable (which he has occasionally used as a kill mech). He opts to hit Keiga with the 'Taal, wanting to keep his board position (I steal Intet to torment the owner). He drops Phage into the yard, knowing he can recur her fairly easily.
Well, he could have, if he hadn't tried to cast Rise from the Grave on Keiga. Cue Hive Mind triggers, and I target Keiga myself with the copy. Intet gets Sakura-Tribe Elder, and Ashling targets my Yavimaya Elder.
But Intet feels like being funny. Knowing my RftG will hit Geth's target, he decides to give Geth a consolation prize. He morphs up Willbender, and redirects Geth's RftG to Phage.
We proceeded with the 3 person match after 10 minutes of not breathing.
Sphinx is a "may" ability, plagiarize is not. Blue sun makes him draw 6, sphinx says I draw 12, plagiarize says no the other player must draw 12. I choose to draw 24 off sphinx, plagiarize again says no, the other player draws 24, so on and so forth until he could no longer draw and lost game.
So pretty much you won because the other guy didn't understand the interaction? Those are pretty nice wins.
Is this sarcasm? I think it's pretty funny and the opponent could have figured it out with a little more thought. In a tournament, I'd probably think "Sweet. Free win.", but even in casual it's too funny to let slide.
Playing my Numot list tonight in a 4way game. Playing against Vorosh - Karrthus - Crovax, Hero
A bunch of silly things happened in this game, but one thing I found particularly funny. Now mind you, my list is not built around LD but obviously I have Numot, and then Ajani Vengeant. But heres what happened;
Crovax player has 10 plains out already, and decides to cast Endless Horizons, grabbing the last of his plains and says, "Go ahead and blow up the enchantment, I already have more then enough lands." So I listened :D, playing my Ronom Unicorn next turn and sac'ing to hit the horizons, followed the next turn by Ajani, who over the next 4 turns I was able to protect him enough to blow up the last of his lands in the end.

Not meant to be sarcasm. Once had my opponent make three takebacks in one turn because he kept mis-reading gather specimens.
Yeah, that's the play my mono-B deck tries to play for a lot. I can usually swing a few times before someone draws Path or Swords or Crib Swap
I have to ask how often you can pull off a three card combo turn two in this format. The odds of that happening seem really bad, even with aggressive mulligans.

The flippant answer is "not nearly often enough, lol :)"
The actual answer is that it seems to come up about 1 in 10 or so games. There are a lot of people that play heavy black online and they're trying to drop their own uborg asap. When that happens all I need is a black producing land, Dark Depths and the hexmage.

Terrible thing to do I know, but he told me too.
Funny. He should never have put all his eggs into one basket. Now he knows not to be overconfident with Endless Horizons...you gotta understand the 'fine print' because those horizons....they could still end.

Pauper Cube
I cube, I play EDH, and I can't afford Legacy. The other formats can suck it.
You are correct. Yet another case of RTFC.
It happens. I remembered it from when I was trying to make Peasant Reanimator.

I was playing Khymera 1v1, and was land flooded with a Impulsive Maneuvers out.
His Ashling was lethal, and his Hoard-Smelter had Exoskeleton, so if i lost a flip, both would be lethal.
And so the turns went by, i think i won like 10 flips in a row.
I am my own Krark's Thumb... until i lost both.
I died through Poison, Damage, and General Damage. A three-way explosion. It was awesome.
