What's peoples opinions on Pyrrhic Revival? Possible inclusion in my Ghost Council deck, or no?
Just picked it up in a trade with Numotflame because I thought the artwork was badass and is hybrid in my favorite color combination. haha
I get the feeling it's too weak to run though.
Great isn't the term I would use for it. More ballsy. If someone runs it in any deck and doesn't use it to just tutor for a land they get a little bit of respect from me, for taking the chance that they could lose the game when they cast it.

Never saw that card before.. i like it!
The obvious comparison is Living Death, but if you've got a good board position, bringing back the rest of your creatures could be awesome.
I think if you've got a lot of cards like Fleshbag Marauder, Bone Shredder , Nekrataal etc- you could keep the advantages to yourself.

Ya, they both have their pros and cons, though I'd say Living Death is infinitely better. haha But the revival does have the ability to kill off */1's, not that there are many of those in EDH that I'm aware of. Who plays mana dorks? haha
Also, I'm not running either 3 of those cards, so I'm not sure. The Revival would be just be bringing back fatties I guess.
Idk, I do like the card a lot though, don't know if it's good for my build.

Necroskitter loves it. Sure, everyone gets their creatures back... but the next time any of them die, *you* get them. You also immediatly get all of the X/1s.
Not the most powerful combo in the color combination, but a fun one. Carnifex Demon, Contagion Engine, Contagion Clasp, and Grim Poppet are other really nice synergies for it (The proliferate engines in particular, as they can very quickly make your symmetrical Pyrrhic Revival very much not-Symmetrical. Grim Poppet has just been really strong with the new Proliferate engines in general though. Loving the card.

The poppet is a Non-Bo with Pyrrhic Revival returning it to play from the graveyard... but I didn't say he was, himself, a combo card with Pyrrhic Revival. I said he had decent synergy with a deck that would abuse Pyrrhic Revival, due to his interactions with the three other cards listed with him, and Necroskitter. Grim Poppet, himself, lacks any kind of synergy with Pyrrhic Revival (excepting that the opponent's creatures might be slightly smaller, and thus easier for him to shrink).
He's a good redundancy for a deck that likes -1/-1 Counters on the opposing creature pile.
Not only is it great for giving you a tunnel vision target, but if your opponent tutors on their turn, or some other shenanigans that puts something on top.. it's now on the bottom.

Tantarus: It didn't make the gaka greifer level, so it should be fine
I want to second Demonic Consultation. I play it in a deck that I use in 1v1 but we use the official banlist (multiplayer) and I literally just name Sol Ring or Mana Crypt with it. I don't have more than one of any card in the deck including basic lands. It's a bummer to lose to it, but if it's early enough it's like cracking a fetch that costs 40 life to activate and you can just start a new game.

I am finally glad to see that Oblation is seeing some play ! I always thought it was a good card. Anyone have a FOIL version for me ?
Oh my god I love that card. At first I was like, huh? That's like not a good card in anyway but I destroyed two general and saved my own from being used against me
looking through the gatherer i've found these cards that i've never seen before and that can be quite good in the right EDH deck:
primal order: monogreen beatdown decks would love this card. i want to test it in my omnath deck if i decide to drop the LD strategy
koskun falls is one of the strangest cards i've seen in a while, propaganda for black?? probably someone really wants to play this card.....
infernal tribute is another card that may see play in the right deck: you never play enough card draw, even if you're monoblack. it can also be good with damnation
Primal order would be ok, there are enough non basics to cause trouble if you have a heavy aggro deck it might help a lot.
The falls.. well by itself won't do much but I did test it for a while in my sen triples deck along side, collective restraint, propaganda, ghostly prison, and windborn muse and I just never had a creature I wanted to keep tapped enough to keep it alive. I say no.
Infernal Tribute: I'd rather run necrologia, greed, or Reprocess I hate cards that can't sac tokens :(.
Depending on what your deck does, I think Mogg Infestation could be great. If you have a sac outlet, you can double your creatures to sac. (Of course, if your general is the sac outlet, you cast him/her afterwards.)
...or it's a one-person Wrath...that replaces their creatures with weak Goblins. If you have some type of low-level sweeper (Volcanic Fallout + Repercussion?), it could be not-terrible. You could just use Goblin Sharpshooter, too.
I know it's pretty situational, over-costed, and sorcery-speed, but at least you don't wipe the WHOLE board...

I agree, Mogg Infestation has a lot of potential. In fact, if I had a copy, I guarantee you I would be running it in anything red.
I run Pongify in blue, and that just affects one creature. Imagine if you could do it to someone's entire board. Unless they are running a bunch of tokens, you are almost assuredly getting your mana's worth.
Akroma problems? Mogg Infestation.
Scion of the Ur-Dragon wearing Lightning Greaves? Mogg Infestation.

That would be incredibly brutal in a token build running Shared Animosity, which was the card i was about to suggest
Regarding stormtide leviathan, he is far and away the best blue fattie in a vacuum. Not only is he unblockable and hits like a tank, his moat will protect you from almost anything. 7/11 has shroud, so its more resiliant, but he's not going to do anything if you are facing an army.

Stormtide Leviathan wins me games. And wow. As soon as I get the chance I'm putting all of those in my Tibor and Lumia deck. Especially Repercussion. Mogg Infestation is just beyond perfect. It gives me a non damaged based wrath.

If you having burn problems I feel bad for you son. I got 99 problems but a bolt ain't one.
I am finally glad to see that Oblation is seeing some play ! I always thought it was a good card.
agreed, I've loved oblation for ages, I'm glad people are finally coming around.
Not sure if this has been mentioned, but spurnmage advocate (as well as pulsemage advocate and shieldmage advocate) is freakin' sweet in multiplayer. You attack me? cool, your creature just died, and i just made friends with someone else, who now has some sick stuff from their graveyard to use against you.
all for just 1 mana
shieldmage is surprisingly awesome too for such a janky card...your opponents about to combo out? return that counterspell to someone's hand and he can stop it for you! Plus he screws over uril and any other shroudy general-damage strategy.
Isn't it hard to call Oblation on "hidden gem" when it's been on the Top-X list since it was started? In my experience it's about as staple as staples come.

It isn't a corporate office supply distributor, and it doesn't hold my mid-term together.
also, for those who were debating about avarice totem, yall need to look more closely at the cards in that set...
for example, tel-jilad stylus. did everyone forget about it? its just as hard to get rid of as Top, and it gets around steal-y effects, even grabs your own avarice totem back. it ranks right up there with Glasses of Urza as an innocuous little pest that everyone overlooks.
speaking of cards like that, how bout Jabari's Banner? thats some fun.
::EDIT:: actually, i just did the math, and apart from Urborg, you can purchase all the cards i listed for $0.81, so i guess thats my 81 cents...(btw, i think thats what 'hidden gems' should be defined as...cards that no one plays with and are cheap as hell, but fill a role, fill it well, and make you happy about playing those cards. and yes, i play with every single card listed here, and i think theyre all actually in the same deck...)
