in my Rhys deck: Promise of Bunrei
It serves as wrath protection, or it can set up the win. also interacts amazingly with Sun Titan, of course Leonin Sun Standard has also been a very solid finisher, and Purify the Graveever since it got printed, has been in every single deck i run with white

If it's on the Top 50...it should not be noted on this topic as a "hidden gem"...
Anyone else a fan of Grim Discovery, at least for monoblack? When do you ever get the chance to return a land to your hand? And it could be a two-for-one? Love it.

That's why. Fleshbag Marauder, while an excellent creature, does not belong in the Hidden Gems thread due to it's status as one of Black's top 50 cards.

My friend runs Grim Discovery in his Thraximunder deck. I think it's really good, especially paired with Mulldrifter, Ingot Chewer and the likes

I played it extensively in Standard and it was pretty sweet, and it's currently in my semi-dredge Mimeoplasm deck for utility purposes.
I've been running Master Warcraft in Ruhan as part of the Sunforger package and it's been excellent at swinging combat either by forcing two players to obliterate each other or just getting my Ruhan through.

It's a sunforgerable target, and it's seriously one of the best ones, assuming you also have a mistviel plains out it keeps bouncing it. I love it so much.
Given up magic because a)its a waste of money b)it sucks the joy out of life c)im doing more interesting things than tapping pieces of plastic that have no intrinsic value.
I encourage you to do the same. Instead of FNM try Friday Night Something Spontaneous. Instead of thousands of hours and dollars on plastic imagine it with a significant other or friends sharing something meaningful. I randomly typed a new password, so bon voyage itches i encourage you to follow suit! Cheers
I think the reason Guardian Beast is never played is like 99 percent of its card price. It's about as much as 50 dollars in some stores, and that's almost a crime for a single card. Sure, if you've got it, the thing is amazing, but most people don't.
I think it's a gem, but not exactly hidden. I love the card though, it's almost always included in any black decks I play on like Cockatrice or any format I don't have to PAY for it. Same thing could be said about Spinal Villain.
Side note: When I read the card, I saw Super Villain and thought, that would be very good name for a card.
Mizzium Transreliquat, in my equipment-heavy Ruhan, is sweet as another Sol Ring or Darksteel Ingot for mana, a second Sword of X and Y for triggers, or even another Sunforger when I'm trying to lock up the game. It looks really non-threatening too, which is a plus. It can even copy opponent's stuff! It's pretty limited in scope but for decks that can run it and have a lot of artifacts, it's a good choice.

Hm... maybe if you're already running Sculpting Steel, Copy Artifact, and Phyrexian Metamorph I could see it, but it seems worse than all of those since you have to spend at minimum six to become something once.

You missed how he said "or". The plus side is that, unlike SS or Metamorph, you can make it whatever is on the field whenever you want after dropping it. Your second Sol Ring just became a Gilded Lotus. Now you need to block a BSC? Cool, Reliquat does that.
We all know utility is the name of the game in this format, and since mana burn no longer exists, we all want to dump our excess in *something*. You're not bouncing your other artifact-copying permanents to get second uses out of them, are you?

Exactly. I play Metamorph in addition but the sheer utility of Transreliquat puts it ahead of Sculpting Steel in my mind, for any :symu::symr: deck that doesn't have many ETB effects on its artifacts but still has enough good ones that it wants to have duplicates.
Just ran into a card I'd never seen before: Scapegoat. This is going straight into my Tolsimir Tokens deck as Wrath protection Anyone else use this? It seems pretty good!

Hmm... a quick search shows that there aren't really any other cards that have an effect like that. It's pretty harsh card disadvantage (lose a spell and a creature just to bounce stuff) but if you're sacrificing a token in response to mass removal, that's not really an issue. Not bad.
Has anyone here had any luck with Ursapine in decks that produce arbitrarily large amounts of mana? I was building Vorinclex, and thought it could be an interesting way to hit for one-shot general damage the turn after laying him down (pump to 25 trample, swing)?
