So cats hmm? I won't be building it, but I have a slight hunch my wife (far more of a cat person than me) might. Also she rather lacks a straightforward tribal build so far, so she just might.
However, I like Arahbo's design here. Of course, remains to be seen what else we get in these decks...
I too like the design but would wsh they were not abusing teh commad zone again. Oloro was really good but a little broken due to his ability working in command zone And then we have Derevi...
I a skeptical about Tribal decks, they may be fun but many tribal decks fall short of competitive. (There are exceptions *Cough* Azami Wizard Tribal *cough* but overall, no.)
Who cares about these decks being competitive? They're meant to be an easy starting point for new players in the format while having some goodies left and right for established players. Tribal is a very easy point to start with for new players as it's clear-cut what a deck tries to do, yet also can provide various ways to branch out.
I guess I am just noticing an increase of competitive play at my LGS and I Don't see new Faces, so wanting to purchase a tribal deck because i love tribal decks. I don't want to pend money on a tribe that may have little support and even after editing still will not hold up against the competitive player at my LGS. If you tribe is not Slivers, Wizards, Mefolk, Elves, Eldrazi or Goblins, chances are your tribe will fall.
Right now I see Cats and Dragons, Yes They are neat but as a tribe, I don't see it working. With my LGS being cuttthroat maybe not seeing new players is a good thing though.
Vampires(personally I'm sure its Mardu) all but confirmed. What could Edgar's Eminence ability be?
Given how Innistradi vampires generally played, I wouldn't be surprised if it gave Vampires some sort of Slith ability. It'd be a nice way to differentiate from the Cats as well, needing combat to grow but get the grow to be permanent and all that.

Chandra, Torch of Defiance - Oops! All Chandras.
Prime Speaker Zegana - Draw for Power.
Pir & Toothy - Counterpalooza.
Arcades, the Strategist - Another Brick in the Wall.
Zacama, Primal Calamity - Calamity of Double Mana.
Edgar Markov - Vampires Don't Die.
Child of Alara - Dreamcrusher.
I think Sword of Dungeons and Dragons should be Commander Legal. That's the problem with Un-Sets. Some of the cards do some crazy ***** that no basis in a real game of Magic, but others do interesting things as part of a gag.

Good news! Commander is a casual format amd if your group is cool with it then play the sword.
Also yes only the sword is going to be in Unstable. The other two are Hascon exclusives.
Aren't they just promo cards from some convention?
Yep, those were the HasCon exclusives.
I'm surprised they didn't include a My Little Pony card. There's a lot of MTG players who are also MLP fans (many on this very board). But then again, I think the Hasbro executives don't want to acknowledge the popularity of MLP amongst adult males. My Little Pony is a girls toy. And girls don't play Magic: The Gathering.

.....but Commander is a SERIOUS format and you must adhere to the ban list and rules. If you don't, Sheldon Menery will find you and kill you. No fun allowed.

Far as the Un-cards go, for me it's a case by case basis. I really wouldn't mind someone playing a Grimlock - because its awesome - or a Sword of Dungeons and Dragons. In fact, I kinda want a Grimlock...

I would have thought he would have minions for that........
We'd allow Grimlock no doubt. He might be a good Dino legend, too! ...depending what Ix gives us.
He conveniently is in the right colours for it for certain...

The problem is more that I have "several groups".
One might allow it, another one might not. And the third group might only allow the sword on Friday, but no other Uncards.
That is why homerules hardly ever work. It's too much of a hassle and in the end you think: "Let's just not do it, much easier that way."

I think that just highlights the glaring issue with the Spike play groups who can't leave their try hard at the door to have "fun". I really hate how people use the "fun is subjective" card when "fun" obviously just means not taking everything so seriously and playing the game silly for a second. And if that isn't "their fun", well, then that says a lot about their personalities. Ultimate no fun zone have something to prove at all times, no Dinobots or rolling dice ever, MUST WIN. MUST SHOW EVERYONE HOW GOOD I AM AT THE GAME.
Can you tell I hate spikes in EDH yet?

And fun IS subjective.
Wizards thought Unhinged was fun.
Trust me, I've played with the set and the majority of it is annoying crap.
The silly board states you can get in EDH is ten times as much fun as someone yelling 'GOTCHA!' because you touched the table.
Hell, someone thought that 'Going Overboard' was a funny movie because they decided to release it.
I checked on the rare/mythic rare dinosaurs in Ix. They seem fine (with a lot of beaters). Grimlock costs half as much as Gishark, so that's a huge plus (and we haven't even seen his other side!). You probably can utilize the Naya 5-power effects well with him/them, ramp like crazy, etc.
He's a vehicle legend, too, adding green over Depala. Not sure how many vehicles exist in green decks on average (I took apart my Jor deck before I got a S.Copter, but I only used Cultivator's Caravan...in an artifact-heavy deck).
Autobots and Decepticons both count as Transformers, but we probably won't get an abundance, and I would not push anything further with him.
I think Sword of Dungeons and Dragons should be Commander Legal. That's the problem with Un-Sets. Some of the cards do some crazy ***** that no basis in a real game of Magic, but others do interesting things as part of a gag.
The problem with Sword of D&D in a real game, though, is that the listed color for the token is "gold", which isn't a Magic color. You could houserule it to be 5-color or something, but it doesn't work as-printed, unlike some Un- cards.
Order of the Widget (WU): Cyborgs. "You don’t need a toaster if you replace your hand with a toaster."
Agents of S.N.E.A.K. (UB): Spies. "The problem is, they are, for the most part, awful spies, using spy gadgets whenever and wherever they can often when not remotely called for."
Legion of Dastardly Doom (BR): Super villains. "They want to rule the world, but are constantly fighting as to who gets to destroy the world first."
Goblin Explosioneers (RG): Goblins, including Steamfloggers. "Their style is slapping thing together to see if cool things can happen. And when things don’t explode, sometimes they do."
Crossbreed Labs (GW): Inventions to alter biology. "Part monkey/part spider/part leopard - sounds good."
Foil tokens, including tokens not produced by cards in the set that they think players will like to have.

As not a spike, I'm not interested in playing against Grimlock or Nerf War. Sitting while someone screws around with a Transformers figure sounds tedious as hell and I'm anti-people firing Nerf guns at a table covered in pricey cards and beers (most often play at a brewery connected to the LGS). Not wanting my game night to be full of wacky shenanigans doesn't mean I'm not having fun with it.

Hopefully it's a small..simple transformers toy as I know someone who might be planning on getting one.
Also, aren't the tables at the brewery a little small for any more than three players? Or maybe you could take the beers upstairs, but all I remember seeing there are D&D players?
I'm most often not on that side anyway though because I'm forbidden from drinking beer. Not for age reasons, anyway.

Somehow, I don't think the person trying to add nerf guns or extraneous D20 rolls to their edh games is worrying about a little extra hassle.
