Great call: Ludevic would have made so much sense as that.
By Gnome Means seems excellent, and I always liked Giant Fan.
I wouldn't make it a 1/1 conversion..but like 2UB : T Exile two random creatures from a graveyard, put a Stitched Abomination token into play that has "All of the Creature types, Text Boxes and Combined Power and Toughness of Both Creatures."
Edit : The random thing is for the "MAD SCIENCE!" flavor of Izzet.
Eh, rules lawyer seems strong but not THAT insane. Having going through the comp rules, it looks like it could basically be reworded in non-un to:
all other creatures and planeswalkers you control don't die to damage or 0 toughness/loyalty
you can't lose (aka platinum angel)
some pretty meaningless stuff about counters and equipment and auras
Rules Lawyer lets you do absurd things like put an equipment on a creature, animate the equipment with Karn, and swing with both (without losing the buff from the equipment). If you kill a creature with an aura attached, the aura stays on the battlefield, too.
planetofthesquirrels asked: I have to say I'm hugely dissapointed in your decision to leave out giving UW even a commander, while BR gets (at least!) three and all the other the other get at least one. What made you not give WU at least one as well? I find that very unfair.
Every faction has a legendary leader. The Order of the Widgets is a computer, so it’s not a creature. The plan originally was to have The Grand Calcutron be able to function as a Commander, but the text just didn’t fit.
Sets have a lot of spinning plates. Not everything always works out perfectly.

Fair point, from a rules perspective it's a bit of a nightmare. That said, I think those possibilities are unlikely to be strategically useful. Not even sure what the aura hanging around would mean - I assume nothing, besides counting for serra's sanctum etc.

(I don't really care, but...) I don't see why calcultron couldn't have been a creature.
I can't imagine wanting to play it in limited anyway, UW seems like the color combination most likely to want to play answers flexibly to deal with threats, and also among the color combinations least likely to benefit from the 5-card minimum hand size. So I do have to wonder who the card is supposed to be for. Aggro UW un-decks? Seems kinda niche.
Perhaps Ludevic would've made sense being a legend in this expansion, fully exploited, instead of his crapy self in C16.
I don't think they're including any cannon characters in this set (?)
Anyway commander precons are already pretty off the leash since they only need to be balanced for legacy and vintage (and, if they feel like it, commander). Un-sets might actually be more reined in, funny enough, since they're supposed to work as a limited set. Plenty of the other partner commanders are quite strong too, even kraum in the same colors is pretty great. He was just a bizarre misfire, not a product of where he was released.
If they make augment and host a black bordered mechanic someday
I would attempt a host tribal for sure (once there is enough.)
Host is not a creature type so tribal isn't really a thing for it. Also Host and Augment is probably the least likely of the mechanics in this set to make it to black border. Especially considering how much this feels like they're using this set as a testing ground for mechanics.

Ok host focused
But I understand the only things from the list that have a shot of becoming black bordered is contraptions, triple strike, and last strike but it still fun to hope a Mechanic like this becomes black bordered

I like last strike and triple strike (i could see really big creatures for low cost have last strike. And triple strike is just fun.
contraptions should have just been black bordered to begin with. too many reprints if they make it a real mechanic later.
Anyone else ready for Rivals? It’s nice that these goofy cards exist, but save the usuable ones for the Commander sets. Give me something I can expect to use.

Rivals? what are you talking about?
Rivals of Ixalan, the next non-joke set.
And yes, I'm pretty hyped for more tribal shenanigans.

chamces are the mechanics of unstable are being tested. I want tobget a freature tbat give mine triple strike... and throw him into dragons.
breya is 4 color. In most cases i would prefer tl get a land that produces more than 1 cllor (even if it is a lot of blue)
The thing is this isn't just a land. Its an enchantment that creates value into the mid game then becomes a land, essentially for free, that will enable you to start powering out more amd larger things after you've got your colors online. I mean I'll concede that its probably not going to shine in the super cutthroat combo versions but, well, thats what you get for playing that version.
