I feel like this week is way more interesting than last week. Rhonas the Indomitable: I changed my mind; this is my favorite god. It's really easy to get him online and he's a great attacker and blocker AND gives friends trample. Anointed Procession: Love this in the obvious deck. Plague Belcher: This is big for a zombie and deals a lot of damage for doing things zombies want to do anyway. I'm a fan. Dread Wanderer: Recurrable creatures that die to Skullclamp are always interesting... especially if they have a relevant creature type. Lord of the Accursed: A L P H A S T R I K E Nissa, Steward of Elements: Super interesting design. The middle ability is awesome and the other two are relevant. I feel like this is decent in our format. Sunscorched Desert: Like that we are getting more colorless sources. Dislike that this one is boring. I appreciate the throwback though. Vizier of Tumbling Sands: Great cycling effect. Will go in the cycling deck and possibly more. Shefet Monitor: I love this. Another great cycler. Heaven // Earth: Nice, scalable removal for decks that want it. Pyramid of the Pantheon: I like this once it goes online but don't know if it's worth the effort compared to other mana rocks. Something like Atraxa might want to give this a run though.

Rhonas the Indomitable goes well with fight effects like Arena and Ulvenwald Tracker. If I were going to build Rhonas, I'd be sure to include such cards. Indestructible and deathtouch makes it hard to lose a fight.
Since we have not one but two Simic Commanders that care about library manipulation (with Rashmi, Eternities Crafter and Momir Vig, Simic Visionary) and a few others that are really good at cranking out mana (in Kruphix, God of Horizons) and the partners in Simic do both if paired (Thrasios, Triton Hero + Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix, Nissa seems like an auto-include. Scale-able with highly relevant abilities. She definitely has some deckbuilding costs but I think she's amazing. She might be good enough to find her way into decks like Surrak Dragonclaw and Animar, Soul of Elements where space for noncreature permanents is at a premium as well; that 0 ability is strong.

Quite a few good cards spoiled in the past few days. If zombies didnt already have enough love, the new lord is really good. I really like the new Nissa, I just hate how its already priced for preorder at $25.
Rhonas the Indomitable is my favorite god so far, and would make a solid commander. It would be tough trying to decide who to lead a mono green deck - Rhonas or Nylea, God of the Hunt. I might lean toward Rhonas since I feel that turning him on would be slightly easier than Nylea

I personally prefer Rhonas, he is cheaper to cast, cheaper to buff, and gives trample; the last part is huge for aggressive big creatures.

But is the cheaper cost worth not statically giving all of your other doods trample like Nylea can? This is where I find myself going around in logical circles when trying to compare cards - I can always imagine very plausible situations where one card shines over the other.
Newly spoiled card: Harsh Mentor. THIS is my must have card from the set as it will go perfectly in my Vial Smasher/Kraum group slug deck. This is also a great hatebear card for those who have to face a lot of combos based around activated abilities. "Why yes, go ahead and activate that Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker, or Staff of Domination, or Rings of Brighthearth, or Palinchron..."

Good luck activating Rings of Brighthearth. But yeah, Harsh Mentor would wreck my Merieke if I can't steal it for some reason. It'd prevent me from executing infinite-sacrifice combos in my Asmira deck. Etc. Not a bad hatebear for the format.
I'm actually heartbroken over the trash that is Bontu. I truly feared they would go with a morbid mechanic for the attack clause and what's worse they made it one sided. They could have at least made the ability some sort of creature generator to give you bodies but noooo. They give you an almost unplayable sac outlet. I'm really pissed off.
All these Amonkhet Gods strike me as meh for the format. They just don't do much beyond attack, block, and reduce life totals. Kefnet the Mindful is probably the best, because drawing cards. Oketra the True comes in second for voltron potential. Rhonas the Indomitable fight.dec with Arena and company seems like the most fun.
The monocolored Theros Gods aren't amazing in EDH either, with the exception of Purphoros, God of the Forge, but they at least do relevant things.
These gods do seem like great "buddy cops" for the right decks.
I love Rhonas in Yasova (with her out, the god is online and can pump her power for better Threaten targets).
Oketra is aces with warriors.dec. Kefnet will be in your landfall deck.
Bontu is a tough-to-remove, why-would-you-remove? sac outlet that can trigger life loss and helps your draws. I can't imagine people don't have a place for that in EDH.
I think the Green one comes out ahead as being a really solid aggro creature in a bunch of different decks, Black one is Also decent in the right places

Theros gods not amazing for EDH? O.o You're kidding right? The fact that they're indestructible utility cards makes them very useful. Erebos is a staple card draw in black, and the second most powerful god thanks to the static effect that just wreck some decks in a lot of situations, and Nylea is used in a lot of decks as green evasion. Thassa is less used, but some decks like the evasion (Marchesa, Brago, and so on). Heliod is not amazing, but I've seen him be used occasionally. Vigilance is not to be underestimated.
Of the multicolor gods I've seen Xenagos, Karametra, Ephara and Kruphix used in a lot of decks, since their effects are very powerful. Iroas and Keranos has seen some play every now and then, but they're rarer.
A lot of the Theros gods are basically staples in the format.
Of the Amonkhet gods I'd say Rhonas will probably see a lot of play and Oketra will see some play, but none of these new gods are on the level of the Theros gods.
Problem is most of these gods just feel like powered down forms of the Theros ones, and the ones that don't come across as rather lackluster. I can't see them being as ubiquitous as the Theros ones. On the plus side, I think the non-god Legendaries are actually more interesting than the non-god Legendaries from Theros. We haven't seem disappointment quite on the level Anthousa, Setessan Hero for non-god cards quite yet.

To be fair, Incanur did say "monocolored" which is kind of true. Erebos and Purphoros aside, Nylea is just bad, Heliod takes some serious build around to work and even then is really slow, and Thassa makes an ok voltron commander solely because of the "can't be blocked" ability.
The Amonkhet gods are really bad by comparison, and not just because they aren't enchantments. Rhonas and Oketra are the best and still aren't that good, but the rest are just bad. It's almost like Wizards thought the monocolored Theros gods were too good. Bontu is trash, Hazoret is an exceptionally bad strictly worse Puphoros(in the sense of [do a thing and deal 2 to each opponent]), Kefnet is a strictly worse Erebos made even worse because it's blue. Hell, even Oketra is a worse Heliod. Surprisingly, Rhonas is actually a strictly better Nylea.
These gods do seem like great "buddy cops" for the right decks.
I think this is the right way to use them, although they may not make the cut in some cases depending on the power level you're going for. I'd consider Kefnet and Rhonas for a creature-heavy UG deck with the new Nissa, lots of creature-based carddraw, a bit of self-bounce and either Momir, Rashmi or Kruphix at the helm.
Interesting abilities that inspires new deck ideas.
Though the Theros mono-color gods also fall a bit short in this respect, it's mainly the multi-color ones that are exciting.

My Asmira deck uses Altar of Dementia, Martyr's Cause, and Greater Good as sac outlets, so Harsh Mentor would hose me. The mana Altars do get around it, which is neat, but it interferes with other staple sac outlets.
Depending on the gamestate, I might have enough life to advance the Boonweaver Giant combo to the point of using Fiend Hunter to remove Harsh Mentor.
