Lots of people are like "Eh, that 1 or 2 early game damage isn't gonna do much in the face of the 180+ life he's gonna gain anyway". So yeah.

It seems difficult to meaningfully damage Oloro's life totals without a major dedicated effort. While the Ororo player might ignore three or four damage here or there in the expectation that they will win before it becomes relevant, if you do much more than that they'll put their generous selection of creature hate to work keeping your board nice and manageable. Or they pillow fort up and start taxing everyone out of the game. Fighting his nonsense takes all of your attention, or the collaborative effort of the rest of the players.
Reservoir seems like the kind of card that will be a frequent debate topic,slowly into the woodwork, and then pop up occasionally in the banlist thread. So basically I'm saying it's good but not broken.

Not at all. They just don't care. Unless it's in a commander product, they balance their stuff around 60 card magic where the life total is fine. That said... the card is really dumb with Sydri. At 51 life, you will win the game 98% of the time.
This set is really starting to feel busted for artifact based commanders.
I agree. We should all only play g/x decks because they are the most objectively fun and anyone who disagrees does not know the truth about EDH. Everyone should just play their decks because interaction beyond high fiving about how many land are in play is unfun and equivalent to casting Stasis while kicking puppies. I for one will never play with anyone who casts tutors, removal spells, blue cards, things I arbitrarily decide I don't like but will probably cast myself later.
Black Gearhulk is fine. It has a ton of competition in the 6cmc slot and the single-target removal spot. I think fear or intimidate is better than menace, but it's a meta call.

I'm tempted squeeze Aetherflux Reservoir into my Selenia, Dark Angel deck. Actually getting to 50 life would the trick there. I doubt it's worth it, though Aetherflux Reservoir does gain you some life. I'd like to see the card in storm deck.
Because of Darien, King of Kjeldor, I've been complaining about cards in the Shadows block ether having a black back or making you loose life instead of dealing damage. Now they throw me a bone that takes 101 life to use. (50 to activate and 51 to survive. Don't tell me to hit the opponent, getting 50 Soldiers is more fun than a OHKO Card.) I'm not sure if I should take this as a slap to the face or a reason to include more life gain... It goes infinite with a Soul Sister effects that makes me gain at least two life, so I think that I'm leaning Life Gain.
Everybody's talking about the 50-damage part of Aetherflux Reservoir, but what about the other part? Do you think this could be a utility artifact for Storm decks? It potentially serves as both survivability and an alternate kill condition when your storm doesn't quite make it all the way to killing the table.

If a storm deck is going off, it's hoping to kill the table anyways. This can be a part of that kill, but I doubt it gets played as a defensive measure all that often.

Though my experience with Storm is limited, the card seems very bad. To gain exorbitant amounts of life you would need to play it before playing most of your spells, and 4 mana is a pretty large amount to spend before you start chaining rituals and actually developing a mana pool. You could always have it in play beforehand, I guess, but I would never count on that.
Keep it with the more obvious uses. Sydri, Ayli, Oloro, etc.

Well, the reservoir can enter play as the fourth spell of a turn and still gain you 5 life on the next spell, so as long as it comes in early, it can be played off a ritual pool of sufficient size and still gain you plenty of life as long as you can keep going. Anyway, the only experience I have with storm is playing against it a few times, so I'm not sure about it all myself, but I have seen Storm cast a whole bunch of spells and kind of fizzle out because they got unlucky and didn't find a payload, and I thought this artifact might alleviate the consequences of that happening.

Until I read this I had misread it as 1 life per spell. So that means that this can net mana via treasonous ogre...
Not quite infinite, since you need cards in your library to Dredge, and probably not enough to kill the table... but a nice way to build Storm count, or mill yourself for graveyard shenanigans.
