That dragon combos for a noninfinite-yet-very-high number of combat steps with Reconnaissance, provided you only attack the highest life total person with the dragon.
Scourge of the Throne: Big new dragon does big new dragon things. Mos def giving it a spin in Intet. If you stick a Progenitor Mimic on it and only attack with one of the copies each attack phase, then you could keep getting more attacks as long as one copy is hanging back, right?
Some nice reprints coming our way, and I'm really hoping that I can get a box at MSRP if things keep up at this rate. As for the new cards:
Worldknit: In no way usable in Commander, but man do I want to be the guy who gets to play this in Conspiracy draft. How many people are even thinking of using conspiracy cards in Commander anyway? I'd almost wanna give any Conspiracy legend a freebie on them just for flavor's sake.
Drakestown Forgotten: Another neat tool for graveyard/dredge decks. The ability is a little expensive to use, and I would have loved to see it give -1/-1 counters, but he's still reasonable without any tweaks. Can't say I like the art all that much though.
Scourge of the Throne: So what does the dragon have against authority figures anyway? Did Brago pass an anti-dragon zoning law? I like this guy more than Hellkite Charger, but I only have so much room for dragons in my decks, so I'm not sure where he'll fit. If I make Marchesa, he'll probably get an auto-include because Dethrone.

Whenever Scourge of the Throne attacks for the first time each turn
Even if you remove it from combat with Reconnaissance it will still have attacked, so it will not check for the trigger again this turn.
They must have added the errata after I posted that
There's no way I could have misread the card. Still a cool card though.

Well, dragons do have a hard time filling out the proper paperworks.
Charger gets in for 6 the turn it drops but its a huge mana per turn to take extra combats if not rocking infinites. I see more potential for big outputs from Scourge than the charger to be honest when looking at sustained for multiple turns. In addition, I think you should really look at if you are giving haste with outside sources because if you are, I think the Scourge picks up a lot and becomes much stronger than the charger.
So.... haste damage + infinite attack options vs consistent heavier output with lower overhead. Personally I like the Scourge more especially if you are granting haste here and there.

Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
Scourge of the Throne seems rather sad if you happen to have more life than everybody else, though. But it's cool - if counter-intuitive - that only the Scourge itself has to attack the player with the highest life total. You can point the Scourge at whomever while swinging with your whole team at the person who's the biggest threat, then untap and attack the dangerous opponent again with your team plus the Scourge. I think I probably will switch if I can get my hands on this new dragon.
Indeed. With Scourge being launched into play with haste via Zirilan, he swings at the highest life total player as a 6/6, then untaps and swings at someone else as a 7/7. If you have even one other dragon to swing alongside him, that's going to be a LOT of damage, and crucially, with very little mana spent.
so my Scion gets another attack and a possible 2 +1/+1 counters.....thank you, between the reprints and the fun new stuff this might be the first set in years I get a box of
Mark my words: Treasonous Ogre will lead to ridiculous plays in this format.
Luckily he's confined to red rather than one of the more broken colors like blue or black, but he'll still be insane, especially if you're willing to go all in with him and power out things like turn 4 Kozilek, Butcher of Truth.
Treasonous Ogre is the kind of card red needs more of.
It is unique, powerful, and doesn't break the unspoken rule of not having good red card advantage.
I'm definitely testing Treasonous Ogre in my Jor Kadeen list. I don't expect him to be game breaking but powering out Armageddon faster is always better.
Treasonous Ogre: Acceleration and Dethrone enabler. Seems busted with Exsanguinate and Debt to the Deathless in any 4 player game, and still really good with any other X spell. Just be careful not to overextend.
Soul of Zendikar: Nice to see that they're still giving shout outs to other planes in 2015. I'd really like it if this was part of some sort of mythic cycle referencing older locales. Maybe get an angel from Innistrad, a dragon from Jund, etc. and so forth. As for the card itself, he's a solid though somewhat expensive token producer. It's nice that you can get something extra when he dies at least.
I don't get what you mean about exsanguinate? If you're ahead of each player by 3x (plus one) then you could kill them, though. Also if you're in a 4-player game you'll gain back the life you spent, so it's like a free bond of agony or something.
soul conduit is epic, though. Play this guy turn 4, lose 36 life, exchange totals with some poor sap immediately. Classic. Doesn't even break to sudden death/sudden spoiling, and only to krosan grip if you pass priority with conduit on the field. And of course if the pieces survive until your next turn, you can do the same thing with mana to spare. Hell, with a decent fireball-type spell you could end a 3-player game right there.

Hot damn. I just saw this. Fantastic news! It's unfortunate the new arts aren't very exciting but I'll tak'em!
Scourge of the Throne is a beast. He'll be going into Zirilan immediately.
