I'm going to happily disbelieve that the legend is real until it is confirmed, at which point I will bomb MaRo's Tumblr with demands to know what the hell the Design team was thinking.
Like, Mirko Vosk was just lazy design appealing to casual mill decks, but Emmara is just bad design. Really bad. "I don't know who this is supposed to appeal to" bad.
Iaquinta has supplied us with spoilers in several past seasons, and has never been severely wrong. Believe it, as bad as it is.

I've been holding out hope for Lightning Helix to return in Ravnica for so long, but to actually get Helices 5-8 for my casual decks is going to be great (9-12 including Ajani Vengeant, or 13-16 including Firemane Avenger ).
As for Emmara, I'm surprised that we didn't get more people expecting her to be at CMC 7. Looking at the spoilers now, we have 2 Champs each from CMC 3 up to CMC 7, and the fact that Emmara and Teysa are the top-enders over Ruric and Melek is kind of hilarious
Mid-Post-Edit: I care about Helix, Unskilled Ninja, I care

I've been predicting Emmara at 7 mana for several days now. Not only do we have two champs at each CMC, each CMC has a guild from each set, and those guilds share a color.

This set seems so angled towards cycles (due to 10 color pairs all needing attention) that it seems 7 mana is going to be extremely likely.
If that's all the text on the card then she is terrible. Let's hope otherwise. We saw plenty of fakes already this season. If the mods are saying this is legit then I'm on board. That is disappointing.
I just wanted to come here and say that this is the worst looking set since Saviors of Kamigawa. My mind is blown at how mind-wrenchingly terrible the new Legends are for EDH. Geez.
Emmara is like the worst parts of Legends and Homelands got pregnant, aborted the fetus, tossed it in the trashcan, set it on fire and wrapped the corpse in a Dragon's Maze pack wrapper.

It's not. The split cards already ensure that it won't be.

I never noticed that. I wonder if it's intentional and they wanted to screw with our desire for patterns or if it's all jsut a bit coincidence.

Okay, let's not get ahead of ourselves. It's hardly a great set, but comparing it to Saviors? Go ahead and look back at what was in Saviors. Then go look at things like the Fuse cards, Blood Scrivener, Advent of the Wurm, Legion's Initiative, Obzedat's Aid, Ral Zarek, Plasm Capture, Progenitor Mimic, Sire of Insanity, Varolz, Voice of Resurgence, etc. It's not an amazing set, but there are plenty of cards that will be good in EDH, Standard, and/or Modern.

So 7 mana for a 5/7 that prevents damage to tokens. Really? So a 4 mana 2/4 that does the same thing would be too powerful? or a 5 mana 3/5? SOMEWHERE below 7 mana?
I know Wizards intentionally doesn't cost these cards as low as they can, but why do they have to be near-unplayable in every format? It doesn't have to be this way and the game would still be good. It wouldn't tip over to power creep if they gave back a little on the safety front.
Really disappointing at the lack of effort put in here. It's just so inefficient.
Also going to complain that a legendary Elf Shaman somehow beats down better than Craw Wurm. It truly does look like someone spent all of five minutes on this card and I could have done better in two.
UGH ! I was seriously hoping for a good enchantress general - finally.
Way to blow it, wizards.
Will have to hold our breath till Theros. I would love an enchantress general, but I knew better than to get my hopes up in this set as Selesnya focuses on tokens primarily.
EDIT: If that is all there is to it then it will be disappointing that I can't even find room in a token based Trostani deck because of the ridiculous casting cost. At least Teysa can be useful/built around for fun. This is just lame.
Although Mirko has an uninspired and boring design, he can actually be used in a Lazav deck or something, with Emmara......not sure I'd even throw in a casual build.....ugh....../endrant.
You're right. It may not be quite that low in terms of overall power but its certainly got me unexcited.
The problem for me is that I actually got mildly interested at what these guild champions had to offer. As they are, they're pretty much badly designed, overcosted beasties from Legends. The one exception would be Tajic (I'm a sucker for flavourful indestructibles).
But yeah, bad set for someone who only very rarely plays EDH anymore (and only 1v1 at that).
Emmara is like the worst parts of Legends and Homelands got pregnant, aborted the fetus, tossed it in the trashcan, set it on fire and wrapped the corpse in a Dragon's Maze pack wrapper.
Spoiler alert: I hate this card and will not be saying anything productive in this post. Sorry.
Oh...oh god...why is Emmara so freakin' terrible? I don't come into this thread just to blast cards because plenty of other people do that so my piling on isn't necessary, but this...no. I don't have a problem with her costing seven if she did something worth a slot in a deck, but I honestly wouldn't play her for four mana (and an appropriately scaled-down P/T). I have a Ghave non-combo token deck that I love and I had high hopes for Emmara, but this is awful. Sure, she lets me chump block with impunity but I can already chump block a lot and then replace my dead tokens pretty easily.
It's not that she's the worst card ever printed. She's not even the worst card in this set (random damage goblin, that honor is bestowed upon you lol). She's just not worth a slot in a deck. They wasted an opportunity to print another cool Selesnya legend (even if it was gonna cost seven no matter what) and instead gave us this. If someone can find a good use for Emmara and would like to prove my assessment wrong, go right ahead. I really don't like being this down on a legendary creature and am hoping someone somewhere finds a happy home for her lol.
Sorry to rain unproductive hate down from the sky but I'm just baffled by the decision to actually print this card.
I'm really excited for Deadbridge Chant. It's a recursion and draw engine all rolled into one. It's like a random Phyrexian Arena, but with the added bonus of getting free creatures.

Agree. Looks like a nice card to try out in Jarad.

Well, you can totally run Blasphemous Act and Repercussion with her to win the game and... Oh, I forgot, they're Red. Oops.:p
I guess you could just spew out tokens and hope to God nobody has mass removal... That isn't damage-based... In EDH.
Yeah, just stick her in front of a GW goodstuff deck and hope you're not in a position where you have to cast her.

Unfortunately, I can see how this card got designed, and it's not any of the "oh R&D is incredibly lazy" stories. It probably started as a card for midrange token decks at a lower cost because they wanted to give people cool new card for standard, and then either A) was shoved to the side because one of the other champions got pushed to a lower CMC, so she got shoved to seven, or B) was being too powerful in standard at 4 mana, and the only opening they had was in the 7 drop slot of the cycle. It's also possible the cycle wasn't involved, and that Development simply found it's interaction with Lingering Souls and the like too powerful to cost below six.
I don't see what the big deal is. Why should every legendary creature printed be a bomb-ass general? Personally, I liked it better when the R&D was unaware of (or ignoring) EDH. It led to more interesting legendary creatures and more interesting decks. This may get me flamed but, compare Nath of the Giltleaf to Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord. If Nath is your general, you have options. You can play elf-tribal, dedicated discard, stax with some discard, or something out of left field. With Jarad at the helm, you're playing a graveyard based GB deck and it includes Lord of Extinction.

You would never guess, at the terrifying sight of the man, that Hunding was as charming a companion as one could wish for.

I am a Jarad player, and I am not going to refute what you say. Not every Jarad list includes LoD, but when my list didn't I had quite a few people comment about it. The entire first section of my own decklist posting is about the Jarad must cards that I wasn't running, and how I should have used Savra or someone else. I don't mind it, Jarad is neat and his ability is fun, but he does kind of require you to play him a certain way or he isn't relevant to what you are doing.
That said, Nath tends to be rather linear as well, and usually focuses on you trying to get them to discard as much as possible.
Regardless... Not ever legend needs to be bomb, but how about somewhat relevant? Not just to this format, but really anywhere. As part of the deck, Emmara or whatever she is called does not do enough to really warrant being included. I like her to some extent as a 99, but even that is a stretch. I think people are less upset at her pitiful offering as a commander, and more upset at her lack of relevance in any capacity. She's a pretty jank legend, there's not really any other way to look at her.
If it was all creature you control, not just tokens, I could see her cost. If she had some ability that made tokens (Tolsimir? Ant Queen?), I could see her cost.

She is useless.
See, I would have liked her a lot more if she read something like...
Prevent all damage that would be dealt to creature tokens you control.
2GW - Put a 3/3 Centaur token into play
Or some other sort of token, whatever kind of token. Even if the cost of putting that token into play was a little more than that, I think I'd still have liked her even more.
Well I see that Rhys has got himself a high maintenance girlfriend ...
But I think that she is costed the way she is because of her high p/t. If she had a lower p/t the maybe she would have another ability tagged on. But as is it makes sense for her cc
I can't imagine her being useful at all. There is rarely ever a time when I thought "Oh man, I wish I was able to save that token!" Especially at that CMC
