Much prefer the new art on Putrefy to the old one. I wonder if we get Mortify now as well?
Council, eh. Eh. I guess it has it's uses, but I'd rather play Meddling Mage or Nevermore over it if I wanted that sort of effect in most cases.

I'm glad we got a card that makes the */* Elemental token, so we don't have to worry about that being the ability of the GW legend...
I wouldn't put it past her yet- I'm 90% sure that in the ebooks, her gimmick was summoning elementals, so it could just be that they both generate those tokens.

Additionally, the token for the */* elemental with p/t equal to the number of creatures you control is in the background of her art, so it's all but certain that she makes that token, unless her ability changed after hers and the token's art were already final.
Obzedat's Aid makes me want to switch from BUG to WUB. Thinking what could be chained with that card. All I know is Intuition and Entomb get even crazier with that card.
Nobody want to talk about Sire of Insanity & Necropotence? =(
Cool Mythics tonight! Neither of them are overpowered or undercosted for what they do. The council seems a little wonky as you're not likely to get both effects out of him except in a mirror match (and much less likely in commander). But a cool effect at 4 mana if only to play your 7-drop bomb noncreature spell 2 turns early. And sometimes the right play is a 4-mana Meddling Mage. A shame it can't hit creatures but then it would have to cost more mana anyway. The elemental is pretty sweet for a 2-mana mythic and is some more stack hate against controlling colors. Interesting that the controller can't get more than one body out of it without some help.
What's people's preferences thus far on the legends?
I'd rate them:
1) UG. Potentially hillarious/evil with tangle wire and has lots of other fun synergies with a low cost and nice body.
2) UR. Expensive, but a really cool ability.
3) BG. Potentially very strong 1v1 EDH. lulztacular with dreadnaught and death's shadow.
And everything sucks massively.
4) BR is efficient but has almost no effect other than being a beater,
5) WB is horrendously overcosted, fragile, and boring,
6) UW is boring and is mostly a beater, which is a terrible thing for a general to be,
7) BU is HORRIBLE and I wish mind funeral would die in a fire for inspiring all these craptacular dimir cards, considering how many decks exploit their own graves I'd consider him a 2/4 flying defender without leyline,
8) RG is a boring card for boring decks, but i guess if you like that sort of thing he's ok,
Thus far I'm very disappointed, although the top 3 are ok I don't see myself making a deck around any of them.
But, all this will be reversed and I'll be a happy dancing puppy again if that RW dude synergizes with sunforger. As long as you're giving fanservice to janky casual cards (like mind funeral) how about some fanservice for a card that isn't idiotic?
These guys seem like something I would seriously consider using as a general - not, like, gotta-build-now, but things I'm thinking about.
- Vorel of the Hull Clade - Obviously very cool.
- Melek, Izzet Paragon - UR general that points in a cool, fairly unique direction and (probably) doesn't say "definitely murder this player now" as strongly as some other generals in the color.
- Varolz - I am an absolute sucker for things that do everything to something, and also for generals that don't cost a million.
These guys seem less likely -
- Ruric Thar - Haha, I love this dude. This dude is awesome. If for some reason I was making an RG deck that didn't care about anything else, I would seriously at least consider Ruric Thar -- but there's no particular reason to build around him, I feel.
- Exava, Rakdos Blood Witch - It's a kinda unique effect for a general, although if I'm doing some kind of +1/+1 tokens thing, I feel like there's tons of legends who'd be ahead of her in line. But maybe. This'd have to be a pretty theme-y thing. I'd have to really want the black for this to not be Urabrask instead.
- Lavinia of the Tenth - She's in the colors for blink. I think that's probably a pretty powerful effect, too. Unfortunately, her ability is worded in a way that's pretty airtight against shenanigans, and by shenanigans I mean detaining lands. I feel like if I'm making a U/W blink deck, life's too short for it to not be a Rasputin Dreamweaver deck, but who knows.
- Teysa, Envoy of Ghosts - This is such a heartbreaker for me, because I've been dreaming of a pillowfort general like this for years. Might do it anyway?
- Mirko Vosk. I want to like this guy, but there are other U/B generals that just do this better. Like, if there were no other U/B generals that really cared to be in a mill deck, then maybe, but he feels outclassed from like five sides.
Melek could be fun... but I feel like his ability is too limited without topdeck manipulation, and then your opponents see it coming and hold a counter, or mill.
I plan on building Ruric Thar. Gruul Stax, just for you, Phil.
Exava is really cool. I might build Kresh for her and Varolz.
I'm seriously nutting over Varolz in my jarad deck... SO. MUCH. VALUE.
Lavinia is legit. Epic shenanigans. Flash the beezy in, enter blink phase.
Teysa... lost potential. Orzhov voltron, except suuuuuuper slow. I feel like she should have been something like a 3/3 for 4 with pro-creatures, or 3/3 for 5 with pro-creatures and hexproof. The dread effect is nice, but really overcosts the card.
Mirko will go into my Lazav, at least to test it out.

Sire + Necro is a bombo. Sire triggers the discard at the end of EACH player's turn, while Necro can only put cards in your hand at the end of your own turn. So you can stack triggers so the Necro cards go in after Sire makes everyone discard, but then you'll just discard those cards at the end of your first opponent's turn, before you can play them. So you'd lock yourself out of ever being able to play non-instant cards again, while also exiling everything you're paying life to draw before you get to use it.

Well, this is only an issue if we are looking to keep those cards in our hand for longer than a turn . I'm not sure, but can you not still trigger Madness while Necro is out? Of course, we could always just play Vedalken Orrery, Leyline of Anticipation, Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir, or just a whole bunch of instants.
Perhaps this is too much work to be worth playing a Craw Wurm alongside Necro, but I wouldn't outright dismiss it.

You can trigger Madness with Necro out. Madness replaces being discarded, while Necro just triggers on discard to exile the card.
The big problem here is that you'll never be able to play lands. It also becomes difficult to predict how many cards you want to draw off of Necro, and any mistakes lead to exiled cards.

I don't know if this will ever be seen, but as a suggestion couldn't we at least have a "New Card Discussion" thread for every set or or block? I know this isn't a new card discussion forum, but having to go to the back of a thread and read in reverse is sorta redonkulous. This thread has over 700 pages of posts and whenever a new set comes out it gains 20+ pages. It's too late for Ravnica, but maybe for Theros Block?
Does anyone else feel like we got trolled a little by not getting the last 2 guild champs today? I know I'm kinda disappointed.
Was really looking forward to seeing how Emmara would be. Like others here, I'm still convinced she also makes the new token. Hoping for a nice mana cost for her though.

Have a look at her art, then look at the token's art. See that thing in the background? Looks familiar, yeah?
Renegade Krasis: yet another card that is sick with Fangren Firstborn and Forgotten Ancient. Might be time to pick up a former.
Edit: Far and Away: just as good if not better than Turn and Burn. A great tempo play and will be offing hexproof Voltron generals for a long time.

There's lots of topdeck manipulation available to Blue. Future Sight and Magus of the Future let you play past your lands. Soothsaying, Scroll Rack, Jace, the Mind Sculptor, Sensei's Divining Top, Brainstorm and similar effects, any kind of deck shuffling, etc. Thought Lash can become a decent way to dig past cards you don't want/need. Melek feels like the most interesting of the new generals.
Mirko seems questionable, even in Lazav. He's pretty much worse than Nemesis of Reason and Consuming Aberration at the same mana cost.
