I'd like to see a skittles deck, even if your playing against one since as far as I know there is not one in your vids. Its great watching the 4 player matches because I get to see generals in action even if you aren't playing them.
I can't see how it's possible to run Skittles with no discard and only 3-4 mana ramp cards. Nice vids though. Love your column.
Well it's not a 1v1 deck, it's a multiplayer deck. I could see running Sinkhole and Hymn to Tourach and Thoughtsieze and Mind Twist in 1v1, but most of the time those don't usually cut it in multiplayer (well, Mind Twist can, but you get the point). Really the deck is built such that it doesn't need Skittles. Sure, Skittles is great if you can have him out there and protect him but sometimes you can't do that. If you're overly reliant on Skittles in multiplayer I think you lose more than if you build something more balanced. Everyone guns for Skittles. You can't make everyone discard without a Myojin or Cabal Conditioning and you can't rely on drawing those cards.
As for the ramp, there could me more I guess. But that's more of a political move on my part. If you want to scare the crap out of a table, ramp into a turn 3 Skittles and start stomping. You can definitely win some games like that. But if someone has an answer and blows up your artifacts, you're hosed and will be the first person killed at the table. I dunno, I was looking more at the long term play for this deck.
Of course I never looked at another Skithiryx deck, so I haven't seen the way it should be made or how to make it better.

I'm actually trying to work out a build of my own, so same boat basically. If you post your list I can comment on it, since I'm sure you'll get more traffic than mine
Real quick though, I do think the targeted discard tends to work out if played against the right opponent. Relating directly to your vids, the first game has you against two Mono-Green and Ulasht. There's a situation where no one's removal gets through your regeneration except maybe Chaos Warp, and in that situation you'd just Mind Twist the guy that can win the quickest, which is probably Ulasht anyway. Second game you're against 3 Blue players, two of them UW, and right away you can put the table on tons of outs to tuck Skittles. That's the extreme scenario, I'd say, so basically I like Mindslicer and Noxious Vapors there because otherwise - you're going nowhere, Spider Man. The third game is more representative though with Damia, Oros and Yeva, potentially a smattering of tuck counters and tuck removal between two players, but not a crazy amount. In that spot with discard you can just wait for Damia to tap out and then something as small as Duress on Oros is good to pave the way for several turns of attacking most of the time, provided you leave some open for the regen against the removal they do have.
Clearly you're never going to out-value a table with cards like Duress, but since a Skittles from the Command Zone only really hates a few things and shrugs off a lot, you can do your best to get rid of those and then lean on him really hard as a win con. Last week I played a game against a poster here, let's call him Felonius, who drew all of Hallowed Burial, Terminus and Spell Crumple playing Dromar Stax against my Skittles deck. I won through it by getting a picture of his hand with small discard, tutoring for what was necessary, then forcing discard and grabbing a Cavern of Souls. Probably a losing game for me otherwise, but my deck just gave me what I needed there.

I can see what you're saying about hitting the right targets with the discard. It's a different way of looking at things I guess. Mind Twist is a good card and I won't begrudge anyone playing that. But I guess what I do without the discard is either play around counters and tuck spells (in that last game I assumed the Damia player had some sort of counter in hand) or just say "screw it, do it if you want" and assume I'll draw another threat. Plus, there are tutors in the deck so if I really want I can get him back that way.
Your game sounds almost like a war of attrition. I'll be honest, I don't think that much most of the time when I play, heh. I have a buddy who plans 3-4 turns in advance, with a complicated decision tree. I'm more like "Hulk smash!" most of the time. You sound like you like the smaller intricacies. Which is good! Because someone needs to think hard while the rest of us aggro players are grunting and scratching ourselves.
Deck list is going up tomorrow once the article is published.

It's a cool idea, but I can't figure out what's going on. If you check out the Top and Go guys on Youtube, they do replays of live action muliplayer games, but they include a decent amount of graphics so you can figure out what's being played, life totals, etc. It's a good idea though, I wouldn't give up on it.

Great vids. Can't wait to see what you do with new commanders.
1. Not sure if you are into durdling but Sydri, Galvanic Genius would be sweet!!!! Make it like a batman utility belt kind of deck with all those artifact gadget tricks.
1. A group slug deck with Gahiji, Honored One could be sweet using cards that give your opponents dudes to swing with politically. Not sure how good it will turn out since you will be half aggro half/pillow fort with some combat phase matters utility thrown in the mix.
In the same way you can tell someone is from the XVIII century because he is arroused by ankles, you can tell someone is from USA because he feels nipples disturbing.
I liked Adamaro, good to see a mono-red deck that always has it's hand full. How about a Black Mike deck that's not purely combo or a Zegana deck built around Maro creatures, Multani, Soramaro and the like?
Thanks again for doing Adamaro. I am also interested in seeing your take on Zegana. I will let you know how my "hand size matters" deck turns out once I finish building her in paper.
Looks good man! Only recommendations I would make for the future are to mention issues and weaknesses the deck may have, and maybe give a tip or two about playing it. Personally I also like to talk about cards that didn't quite make the cut but was considering as well. That's just me though. Should be fun. Can't wait to see some games!

Thanks for the feedback! I talk a little bit more about the deck during the gameplay I recorded, but I'm having an issue rendering that one, so I may have to cap a new one.
I've been thinking of recording some of my matches. What programs are you using to record?
I've started using Xsplit to record it because it can rip it straight from the program, however, it records videos in .flv format which Sony Vegas doesn't recognize. Before that, I was using CamStudio to record my entire screen which i then edited and rendered into a video.

I would be interested in seeing footage of actual paper games. Every now and again I'll put tournament footage on in the background when I am working if the mood strikes me, but you rarely see videos like that of EDH games (for obvious reasons.)
It may just be that I don't play MTGO, but I have a hard time focusing on MTGO games.
Thanks man! I plan on keeping up the vids as time permits, so hopefully a good long while.

Purphoros, God of the Forge

As for the new Commander product, it doesn't come online untile Dec. 20, so you won't see any of those cards until next year. Sad times.
