All right, I've got a Youtube channel for multiplayer commander decks. About every week I'm presenting a new deck, and at least 2 game play videos on MTGO. You can check it out here:
EDIT: I'm going to list all the channels I know that have Commander coverage here for easy reference. This way it's sort of a one stop shop. If you know of any that I missed, let me know and I'll add them. Thanks!
Conqueror & Commander: My channel, mainly replays of multiplyer MTGO games with deck techs. I try to add content on a weekly basis.
RoyalAl: Mostly 1v1 EDH on MTGO, with some 2 Headed Giant as well.
Marcagel: Lots of 1v1 EDH on MTGO, along with a smattering of Legacy game plays and tribal.
Cactus Magic: All 1v1 EDH on MTGO, funny commentary.
Tristan Simpson: Live videos of multiplayer formats IRL, including EDH and Planechase.
Your deck is very susceptible to mass land destruction. Norin is a very good deck, and if that pilot built the deck more "meanly"; the game would have been over after Obliterated was resolved.
I see that your 5-colour list is very casual from all the splashy spells that require more than 3 mana to cast. That's the differences of competitive and casual decks on here; cmc of 2-3 to cmc of 5+ (Grey Ogre and Craw Wurm aggro).
Why do empty your mana pool at the end of the endstep? It shows that have no answers and you play zero instants/reaction spells.
Not everyone plays edh competitively BaconoftheArk, some people enjoy casual fun games. If you can tell he is playing a casual deck, why bother telling him his deck would lose to a competitive deck?
I can't tell if he's playing casual or not. He complains about bad plays. Wouldn't a "casual" player not complain because winning doesn't matter in EDH, right?
If breaks the "spirit of EDH" to win games without Craw Wurm.
That Norin deck was not competitive; his Progenitus deck was the most competitive deck in all his game with it. I saw 2 Esper decks that were in the realm of competitive.
I'd say having dual lands is shifting your deck into competitive EDH. If not, why would spent more than $20 on any land in your deck?
Hey everyone! Thanks for checking out the channel. I guess a little bit of background is in order.
I've written over 100 articles about EDH on MTGO over the past 3 years or so, most of which are deck lists with game play recaps (check out my sig). I don't play IRL, I haven't had real cards since Tempest was out. So my EDH experience is all based upon online play.
I'm competitive, but not super competitive. Don't know if that makes sense, but basically when I post a deck I want it to be able to win about half the games that I play in, and more if able. I'm also an aggro player at heart, so that means that I like attacking with dudes. I actively avoid combo. It's really too easy to build a combo deck that goes off by turn 4 or 5 every game, and no one really appreciates that kind of game. But if a game lasts at least 10 turns I think most people are happy.
The question about "casual v. competitive" has come up a lot in my older articles. All I know is that I like playing how I play. Some people don't like it, some people think it's too competitive, some people think it's not competitive enough. But I'm generally happy with the type of decks I build, and it seems like the majority of people who read my stuff/watch the videos seem ok with them too.
I will be the first to admit that the majority of my decks are completely boned to land destruction. If I lose to LD, I'm fine with that, because I know it's an inherent weakness. Playing online, LD is pretty much a rarity. That's why the Norin deck was so unusual. It wasn't the most honed LD deck, but it was interesting.
As for the use of dual lands, I own them, and I got them pretty cheap. The online economy is a little different from the paper one. If they're going to help my deck, might as well use them. I don't think that the Progenitus deck would be nearly as able to hang if I didn't have them. As for that deck, it originally started off as Hydra tribal, then turned into an all multicolor deck, then morphed into a combo of the 2. Someone wanted to see Progenitus, so I made it.
A while ago people requested game play videos, which is why I set up the Youtube channel. Basically I show replays of various games, and provide my thoughts on what is going on. I point out plays that I think could be improved because that's the stuff that I'm thinking about at the time. Of course, I also make a crap ton of mistakes as well. I have a buddy who watches the games and goes completely nuts, because he has a different play style. But I figure it's worth it to show people what I'm thinking, and point out play "mistakes" and other stuff that could be improved. Would be kind of boring if I just did a straight replay probably.
Some of my decks are goofier than others, but I still enjoy winning. I guess that's where I'm coming from.
Anyways, glad to see people are checking things out. Feel free to point out any other stuff that catches your eye, and make any criticisms you want. I can take it.
Edit- forgot two respond to 2 issues.
I tap out because I don't really feel like bluffing in the first couple turns and it speeds the game along. The F8 function sets it so that you don't have to respond to every action if you're tapped out. It's pretty common online. I don't tap out in later rounds tho.
Vish made it out more often than shown but those replays were corrupted. Sad times.
All right guys, I'm going through all the precon decks that came out last summer. I noticed that a lot of players were either trying to figure out 1) how to break into the Commander format, or 2) which of the precon decks to buy. Hopefully this will help people out some. I talk a little bit about underperforming cards, and show how they do out of the box against random opponents.
Next is Devour for Power, which is actually pretty good. Should be out tomorrow or tonight I think. I'm not really looking forward to Political Puppets, so that might be last.

Greatly enjoyed the videos. I actually prefer the replays to live games, as it makes it much easier for you to explain your thought processes and cuts down on time lost due to players taking a break, or thinking about their turns for multiple minutes, etc.
Someone asked for a Melek deck based around Dragonstorm so I've been putting together an outline for that. Not straight spell slinger obviously, but kind of similar. Dragon's Maze doesn't come out until middle of May on MTGO tho, so it's gonna be a little while.
Adamaro is interesting since he really lends himself to land destruction. But I wouldn't want to go overboard with it since it would just lead to a lot of people rage quitting. I'll see what I can do. Funnily enough he was the Commander of my very first EDH deck online.
You guys will see new decks after I'm done with the precons. Stay tuned!

Hey there. Just wanted to mention that I like your videos; I found them maybe a fortnight ago and ever since I've been sure to watch each one. It's nice to be able to watch an EDH game if I'm not with friends and thus unable to play (I do not play on MTGO).
Your videos have actually caused me to build a few decks, namely Krond, Jor Kadeen, and Skullbriar. I'm even considering Reki, lord help me! Jor Kadeen might bore me yet, who knows, and Krond might become Uril just because of spot removal and so on, but even so.
Hey, thanks! Glad you like them. Most of these decks are good jumping off points that can usually use some fine tuning. I really only spend about a week on each before moving on to the next one.
Of course I'll take requests! I'll see what I can do about Borborygmos and Animar, but I have 4 requests before those guys so it'll be a little bit. Is there anything specific you want to see for Animar?
Also, no new videos this week, sad times. Commander was bugged on MTGO but it looks like they just got it fixed. Political Puppets next week, then I'll finally get back to stuff I make. Stay tuned!

This confused the crap out of me until I took a look at your sig. I'm not big into the stax theme, so not so sure about this one. We will see.

I'd like either elemental tribal or a deck with smaller creatures and X-creatures like Primordial Hydra. Maybe this is old territory, but I've never seen either in action.
I can't tell if he's playing casual or not. He complains about bad plays. Wouldn't a "casual" player not complain because winning doesn't matter in EDH, right?

This is quite old admittedly, but don't you get sick of making that tired old Craw Wurm line? I prefer to win by attacking people than Helm and Leyline or Tooth and Nail personally and I can do it using non-combo creatures, your ongoing disdain is irritating. There is a strong correlation between Norin players and those lament the spirit of EDH as crushing the format. Not that Norin is actually competitive against any deck that actually runs white, green or blue, or black - oh wait that's four of magic's five colours who have answers to your permanents that make a very weak general slightly viable.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
I just wanted to say that I for one love your videos. Not only is your take on the game quite interesting and thoughtful but you have made me consider adding or trying different cards in my own decks.
I dunno if any of these requests are doable but here goes:
I would like to see a 5 colour deck (preferably not elemental tribal per say but just a good 5 colour deck)
I would also like to see a stax deck. Any stax deck. (The more colours the better)
Btw, I think you pilot your decks really well!
Finally I have a question for you: did you find the Sen Triplets to be overly vulnerable in your games? I know I watched your videos and whatnot but I am sure you played it more than those few games. Creature plus artifact is often problematic I have thought...at least initially. Then I recently realized at least for me, that having my reaper king eat artifact or creature removal was fine because either way they were removing my one freely (or nearly freely) recurring card, and letting me keep the stuff I would have a harder time recurring.

Yeah, that's why I'm not too keen on uploading live vids. I'd rather do a replay and keep it lasting around 20 minutes or so. Plus, I'm probably not entertaining enough to keep people interested for over an hour. But people really like them, so I try to get one out every once in a while.
The next one that comes out will be just under an hour I think. Ruhan leads to shorter games...

Thanks! I did do Progenitus recently as you probably saw. It's pretty rare that I run 5 colors. Do you have something specific in mind? That'll help me out a little, since 5 colors leaves too much open.
Someone asked for a Glissa Stax deck, and well... like I said Stax isn't really my thing. I'll see what I can do though.
As for Sen Triplets, they weren't really integral to the deck. As you saw it was more token control. You are right though, they did tend to eat a wide variety of removal when the were in the battlefield. But like you said they keep coming back if you want. I don't think I ever cast them more than once in a game with that deck to be honest.
Yeah I saw your progenitus deck and I liked it. You made me cut a few things here and there in my 5 colour reaperking deck. It is here if you are interested.
I enjoy the variety of five colour builds out there. I guess to be honest I would like to see how to pilot a deck that I really enjoyed called the ultimate 5 colour toolbox.
The fundamental principle of the deck is that it can search for things like crazy.
I just really liked the idea. I always have. It obviously is not as competitive as some of your decks but I thought it would be neat to see how a more skilled player both edited and handled the deck.
I am fine if you change the commander or even thin it down to less colours. I am just hoping to see how you go about building a toolbox deck and the cards you select. I have been surfing the web trying to find good toolbox decks but it is hard. Mostly I find either cutthroat $2000 dollar decks or decks that I, one of the least skilled players at my LGS, and most LGS's to be honest, would make mincemeat out of.
I would also like to see what you cut or add and why. I find in your videos you really explain as situations come up in a way I can understand, what you want your deck to do and what cards nearly made the cut.
I also wanted to tell you that your progenitus deck (basically, minus a few $ cards) is played regularly in my meta by a much better player than me. It is very tough and able to come back from seemingly bonkers board states!
Either way, I appreciate you taking the time and I'll be watching your next video!
Well I think that true toolbox decks like the 2 that you linked can usually be more competitive than what I usually run. The problem for me with these types of decks is that the decision trees are extremely complex. Most of the time I spend only about a week on each of my decks and those kind of toolbox decks take a good long while to really get to know them. They're usually played by people who have been working on and tuning their decks constantly over a period of time. That's just not really conducive to the way I usually do things. I dunno, I'll see what I can do. I am planning on doing Captain Sisay soon, but that's not going to be as hard core toolbox as a 5 color deck can be.
Glad someone is liking the Progenitus deck! I had a lot of fun with that one.

Glad someone is liking the Progenitus deck! I had a lot of fun with that one.

All right people, I've had a few vids up, but I wanted to point out that I got an Adamaro deck together and added some game play. Check it out!
