Dunno. They don't necessarily have to go in. If they ever do, "value" would be the closest thing to describing why you would run them. Maybe you could start a list of "Cards You Would Never Run Anywhere Else That Become Gold in a Stax Deck" :p.
Magus of the Abyss could be another sack card on your list.
Some other personal tap favorites are Tectonic Instability in red and Mana Web as a colorless artifact.
Also for tokens I would add in Goblin Assault for red and Creakwood Liege for multicolor; not sure if you want to include them under token production, but Parallel Lives and Doubling Season or anything that doubles tokens upkeeps my Smokestack like a boss. Just some thoughts; thanks for making the list and it looks good too Phil!

The EDH stax primer When you absolutely, positively got to kill every permanent in the room, accept no substitutes.
Have you considered the Hodnens for the list? Green has token gen, with Black having dicard. While they are not fully stax based on their own, they do aid stax strategies a decent amount.
I'm not totally sure it qualifies as a stax card but Quicksilver Fountain is disgustingly disruptive for any non-mono-blue-deck
Also one of my best friends is named Phil and he plays staxy decks, I can't wait till he discovers this thread so we can troll the whole store with our idea of "fun"
Suppression Field, and Linvala, Keeper of Silence tax activated abilities, which includes Fetchlands (sometimes making it impossible for the opponent to keep mana on the table).
I always have to remind people that Herald of Leshrac exists. It is an amazing mana denial card and a great way to feed Smokestack or Death Cloud.
i'd like to see sample decklists or commanders with strats for each, or what gameplan or desire one would have in running one over another (colors, general ability, etc)
Also, early, mid, and late game plans. Stax and prison has always interested me.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll be adding multi-colored cards soon. I mainly wanted, with this draft, was to basically just outline he decks core strategy and just have examples. Eventually I want to tie in as many cards as possible.

Dunno if anyone actually wants it, but here's the Thraximundar Stax list I've run:
It rocks a low avg. cmc of only 2.32 to help keep the gas flowing even when resources are tight, only 8 non-permanents to help ensure that my lands and other valuable resources aren't forced to be sac'ed or tapped down, and a hefty Salvaging Station package and goblin CA engine. Of course, the mandatory Bloodghast, Reassembling Skeleton, and Squee, Goblin Nabob are there for Smokestack and Skullclamp goodness.

You'd probably have a better time just hitting the search function and looking that way. I do have a link at the bottom of the primer that sends you to a bunch of results for stax decks and primers.
This primer is a guide explaining the basic strategies of a stax deck. The early, mid, to late game strategy is such a variable it would be close to impossible to explain with out coming up with actual deck lists and going over how each deck works ect.
Edit: I wouldn't be opposed to hearing how your stax decks plays, strategies, and what not. I only know what I see in my meta with my decks, so a different perspective would be helpful.
Maybe a section outlining what works better in certain metas.
What I do want to do is start linking to people's primers if their ok with it.
Phil, when are you going to make to Dan's EDH night? I might be able to make it to this weekend and great idea. We need to allow people to post links to their Stax EDH decks, and why don't you create an area for those to be viewed?
Just start with yours and we can expand from that.
Edit: Great job Phil! It looks great so far, keep up the good work.

I definitely want a deck list spot. Im just trying to think of a way to go about it.
This is going to take a lot of work from both my end and the person's who's list im linking.
No stax deck is alike, so this is a very huge undertaking. For instance, you and I play the same colors, but our decks operate extreamly differently. Coming up and describing that is not going to be easy.
I'm not going to make it to dans again until my work schedule changes, which will be soon. It's just too much to get off work and scramble to get there. But soon I'll only be working two days a week to focus more on art and writing, and i have Saturdays off so I'll be able to make it more often.

Well, I'm on the same boat Phil. I will tell you what day I'll be going to make to EDH night.
Great idea and understanding of our different deck builders. No one in our group plays alike except for Andy and I. We play really, really similar, but it's after all the exposure to each other is to blame. I think people don't understand that same colours with different pilots means different results.
They're not. Where would I stick them?

amazingly epic sig courtesy of DarkNightCavalier at Heroes of the Planes.
Thorn of Amethyst and In the Eye of Chaos are some of the best "taxing" cards available, and they both see Vinatge play in some decks.
Hokori, Dust Drinker, Kataki, War's Wage, Yosei, the Morning Star, Gaddok Teeg, Grand Arbiter Augstin IV, Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger, and Anowon, the Ruin Sage are all some legendary creatures that have mass-sacrifice or taxing properties built in that you don't have listed.
Blood Moon, Magus of the Moon, and Naked Singularityall potentially have a seperate category of mana color disruption. I dare you to also put Pale Moon on that list...
I'm not sure where something like Posessed Portal, Culling Scales, and Sundering Titan (French 1v1 only) might go, but they are also good choices.
