The old thread can be found here:
We will try to keep track of nominated cards here. Cards that have made it for the next nomination will be stored here when in the nominations week so everyone can see the cards that have already made it to week 2's voting.
The following cards have been nominated and or received some support but have not received enough support to make it to week 2:
The following cards have received enough support to make it to week 2:
Q: What makes _________ a good enough card to be on the list?
A: We are looking for all around usefulness of cards. If a card is an amazing combo piece in a niche style of deck or way then it usually isn't something we want to consider. We want cards that belong in a large variety of decks. The cards that should make this list up should be very versatile and useful to a lot of decks. The goal of this list is not to provide players with the best cards for a particular deck, but to be a resource for players who are entering the format and trying to expand their collection.
Q: How do I get a card not on here onto the list?
A: This list is going to be periodically open to voting, so when we are taking nominations just bring the card up for consideration. Look at the nomination process in the week two process of the process explanation.
Q: Is this list for 1v1 or multiplayer.
A: It is for multiplayer EDH using the official ban list.
Q: What about functional reprints of cards?
A: All versions of the same card share only one slot.
Q: Imperial Seal and Mana Drain are so expensive! Why are they on here?
A: Because this list does not care about budget. This list is comprised of the best cards in a section and thus price should not be a factor in voting and selection.
Q: __________ is such a savage piece of tech! Why isn't it there?
A: This is a thread to showcase the best cards in EDH. Hidden gems and underplayed cards are still good, but that's not what this thread is about. Refer to the "Share Your Hidden Gems" thread for something like that.
Q: ____________ just came out, but it's a really great card. When can I nominate it?
A: Once a card has been out for a full set, you may nominate it. (For example, Terminus could not be added to the list until Return to Ravnica block began.)
Q: Why are artifacts and colorless (Eldrazi) stuffed together?
A: There is only but a small handful of colorless Eldrazi cards and not all of them see play in EDH necessarily, so making a list just for them is a bit redundant.
Q: Where are all the color-fixing lands? They're absolute staples.
A: There are only so many Land slots, so it comes down to how many should be dedicated solely to fixing mana. There is no debate that the ABUR cycle of duals, shocks, fetches, and all the other great lands that make it easier to get the color of mana you need, but there are also a lot of really good utility lands that do more than just make mana.
Q: Why did this thread change to a voting process?
A: We wanted to accurately give the user base a say in how this thread is represented. We felt that giving one user control of the thread gave certain bias results to the thread. It has nothing against who is running the thread, everyone has their own opinions and we felt that the best way to eliminate this was through means of voting. We wanted this thread to represent what the community felt were the best 50 cards for each section.
Q: How long do polls go?
A: Each poll will last 6 days from when it is opened. The poll will never change before the old poll expires so as long as the poll is open you will still have time to cast your vote. If we made polls last 7 days however we would have to constantly change the day that we update the polls so instead we gave ourselves some time to get them changed.
Q: When will polls change?
A: Our current intention is to change polls on Mondays. Please give us some leeway on this but that is our goal.
Q: The voting process takes forever. Why don't we speed this up?
A: We realize that the voting will take some time to loop through things. Early on we might expect more changes due to the change in how this thread is run however in the long run we don't expect to be encountering many changes once things sort of even out a little more. We realize this will make it feel a little sluggish early on but we felt it was still the better way to run things.
Well, first of all, we have a new system for how the list changes. We wanted to implement a system where the person running this page essentially just collects the poll info and makes the changes to the page. The user base will be the ones to decide what will be on here. Each section will receive a three week process as outlined below. We will announce at the beginning of the week what will be happening for the week and we will also change the name of the thread to reflect what we are doing for the week so you don't have to hunt down out explanations so long as you understand the process.

For starters...Vesuvan Doppleganger and Vesuvan Shapeshifter are both better than Clone. For one extra mana, you get creatures that can change during your turn, after they've done their duty as something else (IE Duplicant). I would put them above Body Double even.
Also, Sakashima the Imposter is by far the best Clone type creature since it can bounce itself.
The list is in alphabetical order, so just because a card is above another one doesn't necessarily mean it's better.
I'm going to be doing a lot of edits to the list over time, so you might see a card or two disappear (like Clone) and some new stuff appear.
Kind of have to disagree with your list
--me on the sig--
-- Trade Thread -- Buy List --
Wait, what.
This is EDH we're talking about, you realise. Most of the creatures you mention are entirely irrelevant.
Although I must admit, I'm curious about the possibilities of Welder. I'll get back to you guys on this.
Also, can we remove the creature/noncreature distinction yet? Given that EDH decks don't need to have any given ratio of one to the other, it seems a bit odd.
(This is the EDH forum.)
Welder isn't bad though.
(U/B)(U/B)(U/B) JUMP IN THE LINE, ROCK YOUR BODY IN TIME
(R/W)(R/W)(R/W) RISING FROM THE NEON GLOOM, SHINING LIKE A CRAZY MOON
(U/R)(R/G)(G/U) STEALIN' WHEN I SHOULD HAVE BEEN BUYIN'
For consideration:
-remove High Market +add Phyrexian Tower
They both tap for colorless, and they both sacrifice a creature for their second ability but that's wholly irrelevant when comparing them. High market has bonus points because its ability shines as a great response to removal etc, whereas you may not have the ability to use the mana off of tower. But tower also acts as an enabler, being able to tap for more at the cost of a creature. Tower also has the nice advantage that it can be used in response to split second, isn't locked down by Tsabo's Web (I don't know about everyone else's meta, but this card sees play in my area) or Pithing Needle and it can generate mana for instant speed responses (and it has a nice functionality with volrath's stronghold). The only real 'downside' to using phyrexian tower is that it's legendary.
-remove Lavaclaw Reaches +add Celestial Colonnade
It's a bit harder to compare these two because they're in completely different colors, but Celestial Colonnade should be the clearly better manland for this list. Lavaclaw reaches is nice that it gets better as the game goes on longer, but without evasion or protection and a lousy 2 toughness, this land only really gets in there if the board is clear. With Colonnade, it comes in as a 4/4, flies, and it leaves itself untapped for responses.
-remove Eye of Ugin +add Winding Canyons
Eye of Ugin either requires a strong dedication to eldrazi in your deck, or it effectively is a land that doesn't tap for mana. It has the nice ability to tutor out a win condition when it gets late in the game, but at a steep cost (so basically if you don't play anything for a turn) Winding Canyons taps for mana, and basically allows a deck playing creatures to play draw-go. It's great as a pseudo-orerry (or teferi), allowing you to save mana to respond to your opponents' plays, then put creatures into play at end of turn so that your opponent has fewer chances to respond. (Take note that canyons can let you cast your general at end of turn as well)
Edit:
He meant lodestone golem
Eye of Ugin doesn't exactly require a huge commitment to Eldrazi. It can fetch any colorless creature -- that means guys like Memnarch, Duplicant, and Sundering Titan are all fair game. Eye of Ugin can win games if left alone, and while you do need to dedicate some creatures to it be able to get the most mileage out of it, most control decks will be running those kinds of creatures to begin with.
It also has the awesome side benefit of reducing the cost on All is Dust.
I definitely agree that Phyrexian Tower is superior to High Market, but keep in mind that High Market is accessible to any deck, and pretty much every deck could use a sac outlet at the least to prevent their general from getting tucked.
@ therestless: I too like Goblin Welder, and I can definitely see him getting slotted in somewhere. I'm a bit of a homer to him though, so I didn't want objectivity to get thrown out the window when I was making initial edits to DC's lists.
Ah yes, i forgot Eye can tutor for any colorless creature, and not just eldrazi. Either way, i do think winding canyons deserves a spot on the list. Also notice that i said it requires the commitment to eldrazi for it to be a mana-producer.
Back to the business of suggesting good cards. I'd like to renominate Lighthouse Chronologist and Guile on the top 20 Blue Creature List.
Lighthouse Chronologist is good because it is a fair threat in 1v1 play, forcing your opponent to use up a removal or face the prospect of "losing a turn" every turn cycle. Given that "time" -- i.e. extra turns -- are such a precious commodity in almost any formats and given that this card threatens to give you tonnes of it, I believe that this card fits the Top 50 bill. This may be especially true in EDH given that you tend to have large amount of mana to throw -- i.e. more mana than you will ever need for "countermagic mana". In multiplayer games, the prospect of taking (N - 1) extra turns (where N = number of players at the table) every turn cycle is very lucrative. As an asides, it should also be noted that both its casting cost and its leveller cost is aggressively costed.
Guile is good because it is a good beater (it is aggressively costed), makes it more risky for your opponents to "test" if you have countermagic, etc. It also has combo potential (think Dovescape among others).
I also propose that at least for nonlands, cards like Memnarch should be classified under "Blue Creature" rather than "colourless" given that it is only ever conceivable in blue EDH decks.
Some multicolored creatures to add (in no particular order):
Rafiq of the Many
Jhoira of the Ghitu
Captain Sisay
Nath of the Gilt-Leaf
Uril, the Miststalker
However thoughtreflection is definitely the better card overall, generally if u have it for more than a turn your generally winning with more card draws. It goes with with any cards that say "draw a card".
Sylvan library for example draw 6 put 2 back, or cycle lands draw 2 cards. Its a mana reflection for card draw. Even a Single Brainstorm makes your hand goes nuts. Even better with any jace.
I have even gone nuts with it with timewister/ or timespiral, each other player draws 7 and i draw 14.
It's comparable to Shriekmaw in that it's cheap removal on a stick which is capable of putting itself into the graveyard after doing its job. For most black decks, this is a big advantage. Unlike Shriekmaw, it sticks around for a turn to chump block or wear a Skullclamp.
My pick for removal: Mortivore. Does anyone actually play with this? Situational fatty with no evasion and the most useless resiliency ability. No thanks.
Two cards I think belong on the green non-creatures list: All Suns' Dawn and Skyshroud Claim.
I don't see any other land-fetchers on the green list, and that's fine, but it's clearly one of green's best attributes in EDH. Skyshroud Claim is by far the best in that category, in my opinion. It offers fixing by fetching duals, and even lets you keep them untapped. I would run it over any card that only puts one land into play like Kodama's Reach or Cultivate (M11), because bigger is better in EDH, and having 7+ mana on turn five is huge.
Obviously All Suns' Dawn depends on the deck. In a two colour deck, it's a second Restock. Anything more and it's a ridiculous card. There's not much else to say about it, other than a lot of people seem to forget it exists.
Picks for removal: Mystic Melting. Is a cantrip Naturalize really good enough? I think most decks would rather play something more versatile in that slot, or get the card advantage in the form of a creature like Wickerbough Elder.
Can't pick a second one. Is Earthcraft played outside of the Squirrel Nest combo? A lot of those other cards seem they would be good in certain decks.
Also some additions for the lands list, which seems to be short of 50, so I won't suggest picks for removal:
Hall of the Bandit Lord is insane in the right deck. It's in our Brion deck (loaded with dragons and angels and whatnot) and functions as a third Lightning Greaves/Anger, actually proving to be more resilient and reliable than those two. It's an auto-include in any deck hoping to win with big creatures and combat damage, IMO.
Mosswort Bridge is the best of the hideaway lands. In a lot of decks, it simply requires the general and one other mid-sized creature in play. The result is card advantage and a surprise instant-speed bomb (hopefully).
Petrified Field is a gem people don't seem to remember. It doesn't need to be a combo piece, it fits right into any deck that relies heavily on Coffers/Cradle/Volrath's/etc and wants insurance from Strip Mine. Land recurring abilities are hard to come by, and this one comes in a land slot.
Deserted Temple is mostly a combo card, but it works in a lot of decks.
Krosan Verge should be included. It accels just like Ancient Tomb/Temple of the False God, and it also fixes mana/fetches duals.
Don't remove High Market. Both it and Phyrexian Tower are amazing cards which are absolutely crucial to a lot of decks. But yeah, Tower is slightly better and should definitely be added to the list. (Miren, the Moaning Well, however...)

Please remember to autocard, just do [ card ] CARD NAME [ / card ] and for decks you can cover the whole thing in one deck tag like this: [ deck ] All of the cards in the deck [ / deck ]
This looks like a post from someone who has not read the oracle text of the card they are posting about.
@spezz19: Earthcraft is a very broken card and extremely good in any deck that plays tokens or runs a lot of creatures.
In any case, if I am FORCED to suggest, I will kick out Inkwell Leviathan (while it is a good evasive beater that is resistant to removal, it seems to be the only thing it does -- I don't know if that is enough to call it a "Top-50 card"). I am reluctant to do this but I might even suggest Willbender to be out in favour of Guile and Lighthouse Chronologist. Willbender is great for surprise which gives much fodder for "Crazy Plays in EDH" but it is harder to justify dumping it into just any blue deck -- after all, the surprise is kind of gone if it happens to be your only morph creature in your deck -- you might argue that it shouldn't be the morph creature in the deck but that's almost like saying that you have to build your deck around Willbender to use it). Also, I find it a one trick pony in most cases but that's just me.
If we're cutting a blue creature I think it should definitely be Inkwell. When Tinker was legal he was more viable but for random beatsticks blue can just use another color and monoblue has more efficient ways to win anyways. I really don't like Guile though, cute combo with Dovescape but if I am running a bunch of counters I don't want to be spending 6 mana during my main phase. Lighthouse Chronologist is really good though and I'd like to see him added. My suggestion of Pilgrim's Eye got lost in the last thread but I think he could easily replace Jhoira's Toolbox. For multicolor creatures I like both Vulturous Zombie and Lord of Extinction a lot more than Spiritmonger. Lord of Extinction can kill in 1 hit a lot of the time in the mid-late game, just need to hand him a Loxodon Warhammer or something. I'll also second Captain Sisay for the list, I've seen her used to good effect even when she wasn't the general and most EDH decks run a nice little toolbox for her anyways given that they tend to push the powerlevel of legendary permanents.
If that's the case then I would nominate different creatures, perhaps you should include this in the OP. You also haven't provided explanations for choices but expect it from people who make suggestions? Very well.
Prince of Thralls Insane ability in multiplayer.
Shadowmage Infiltrator Cheap, helps you draw and has fear.
Dragon Broodmother 3R is quite the cost but she is a great token generator especially in multiplayer.
Wall of Denial it's a wall lol, 0/8 flying, defender, shroud.. ill take it.
Harmonic Sliver must have in a sliver deck, brutal against decks that revolve around artifacts/enchantments.
Captain Sisay is also very strong as I stated previously.
