I am in the same boat, its so easy to get around in any color and it costs way too much usually to cast. I would need like Seedborn Muse + a Mana Doubler to even feel like circumstances are right for me to invest the time and energy to run it. Similarly I have long since felt that Rite of Replication is a million mana and fizzles to a stiff breeze but people freaking love that card too.
The answer to both of these cards is cheap removal. Both cost a lot of mana and while they "can" be good in some circumstances their backfire potential is high and even when they do work they often do not win games like good synergy does.

1UU boomerang is less acceptable, and capsize can't singlehandedly win without other pieces unless the game goes to turn 30

Just so I'm clear are you arguing that if a group collectively posited that 2 + 2 = 5 that we, as participants of that community, would have the accept those results on the basis of consensus? Moreover, are you suggesting that we'd be morally obligated to label dissenters as being righteous opposition outraged at the process itself as opposed to the outcome? Or even that we're unable to critique a system and highlight its obvious flaws/failures unless we're a part of it? You do realize why this is a problem right? Where's the accountability? If people succeed then deserve be lauded but if they fail then it's everyone else's fault for not jumping in to do the job for them? Is that how you're suggesting that we conduct problem solving in our everyday lives? Reap the rewards of success and diffuse the accountability of failure when things go awry? Must be nice. If you input "what's 2 + 2" into a system and receive "5" as the output then rather than blame society as a whole it makes significantly more sense to critically assess if the system is even accomplishing its intended task and whether or not it could be modified to yield more accurate results. After all, if the system fails because Prid3 was out of town at a business seminar then how reliable was it in the first place?

From what I've seen of your posts, I generally disagree with your take on EDH and multiplayer magic. That doesn't mean I or people who think similarly are wrong. The game is big enough for all of us to coexist.
Adjustments to the list!

Also, throw away the reputation any said cards have from any competitive format like (legacy, modern). View it in EDH context.

Who's cutting Bob and why? Do people not calculate the average CMC of their EDH decks or something? I mean, everyone here realizes that even if your average CMC is 4 that's still the same thing as having an average CMC of 2 in a Duel format right? Is anyone here suggesting that they wouldn't play Bob in a deck with an average CMC of 2? What am I missing?
Bob is nuts. He's a 2 mana Phyrexian Arena in the color with nonsense such as Exsanguinate, Crypt Ghast, Disciple of Bolas, Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Kokusho, the Evening Star. He routinely hits play on turn 1 off of fast mana (Gemstone Caverns, Lotus Petal, Dark Ritual, Chrome Mox, Mox Diamond, etc.) at which point he doubles your draw steps until someone casts a mass removal spell. Even in decks with high CMC spells you're still unlikely to take more than 4 damage per turn on average and that number can be further offset by staples such as Sensei's Divining Top, Scroll Rack and Sylvan Library. They're not required by any means but every bit adds up. Ultimately you have 40 life to play with and so I don't see a compelling reason why you wouldn't put it to use. Power into your key combos and synergies early on and avoid having to lean on a life buffer in the first place. Plenty of EDH decks are going to have average CMC of >= 3 at which point he's a no-brainer and even at 4 or more there's a still a compelling case to be made. Again, staples such as Exsanguinate can largely alleviate life concerns so I don't see why he's taking so much heat.

Support Necrotic Ooze, saving my second vote for later.
As for Bob, are you guys crazy? I'm 100% with Prid3 here: the better your deck is, the better Bob becomes. The only reason I'm not playing him at the moment is that I'm running Bant - if I could, I'd run him in a heartbeat.
GWU Derevi, the Prison Queen UWG
It's also tutorable with Survival of the Fittest and completely hidden (unlike say Scavenging Ooze) which can lead to massive blowouts.

Yeah no, sorry, that's not how the game works. You get to play both Bob and Sylvan Library in your decks. Why are you acting like you can only choose one or the other?
Otherwise Bob is significantly more competitive than Arena in cEDH and, again, you can always run them both. I have no idea why you're acting like these are mutually exclusive propositions. If you want your deck to have more game against control/stax/hatebears then you play both whereas if your meta is on fast combo/Green "midrange" combo then you can ditch Arena for either more speed or more mass removal.
You do realize that the average CMC of a competitive Ad Nauseam/Doomsday/Hemit Druid/etc. cEDH deck is significantly less than 2 right? Some are even less than 1. So no, you're not "losing so much life" just because your deck has a 5 drop in it. You don't get to ignore the 70 cards in the deck that cost either 0 or 1 and "texas sharpshooter" the three 5 drops in the deck only to claim "omg look much life you lose when you hit these!" You are losing on average ~1 life per turn which makes Bob ostensibly a 2 CMC Arena that's more vulnerable to sweepers. The card is absurd at higher levels of play.
