Just being able to stop Maze and Kor Haven can be very good. Or getting Gilded Drake in without a sac effect or the Drake getting killed in response to its ETB trigger. With Abolisher in play nothing bad can happen to you on your turn. No overloaded Cyclonic Rift or Turnabout when your Craterhoof and friends swing. Nothing can stop your hasted Eldrazi. There's no other card in the game which frees you to play spells or attack with no responses while still allowing opponents to stop other opponents from going off. Grand Abolisher is a very powerful card

The Commander mods have been discussing this already. We're still working out the details but you'll hear something before next week.
Our reasoning behind only doing one card at a time is that the Top 50 list shouldn't change that frequently. Assuming the list is "up to date", how many cards should change every block? One, maybe two? Plus, you need some time to test them before determining whether or not they're Top 50 quality or just the flavor of the month.

I don't claim that the list is up to date, which is why I said that in quotes. What I said was that with an up to date list there shouldn't be frequent changes, especially ones that necessitate doing a massive poll like you're suggesting. This first to around we're going to do our best to balance getting the list more up to date without urging change for the sake of change, but eventually we feel that it will get tithe point were there won't be many cards that people feel should get added/removed.
We briefly entertained the idea of multiple lists, but we do not want to spam the forum with multiple threads because there are many users who do not want to participate so for them it is a distraction.
And in all, this is still as new an idea for us as it is for you (ignoring our behind the scenes talks), so as this unfolds we may continue to adapt our plans. All we ask is that you all be patient with us and rest assured that we are listening and discussing the suggestions and gripes being vocalized.

I am a huge fan of Grand Abolisher for many reasons (not worrying about them killing your threat before you equip some protection is huge for me), but he doesn't stop land abilities.
Ah you are right, didn't read it carefully. Always assumed he was a one-sided City of Solitude but he doesn't stop lands. Still very strong in my eyes

However, since there is so much that needs changing, I think it is much better to make many changes over a few weeks (by vote of course) and then go back to the slow voting process once everything looks acceptable.

If nominations receive more votes than existing cards on the list than the cards on the list currently with the least votes will be replaced by the nominations. In the end, vote for the cards you want to be on the list the most. If you don't care as much about some cards than please refrain from spreading your vote out further than you care about. Multi voting is sort of difficult for us as we could only allow either a single vote per user or allow as many choices on the poll as the user wanted.
We understand that this will be a little confusing which is why we were originally very hesitant to do this in the first place. We happened to get several ties as well which did not make things easier for us.

Sunblast and Magus for me will never be great options. Magus because I prefer disk itself, as it is actually easier to tutor for in its own colors and sunblast because I'm not a fan of partial boardwipes at the 6cmc slot. There are so many board wipes in white it is usually hard to envision me finding a slot a for these guys in decks with white, except in the case where having mass removal on legs or wings is better one-hundred percent of the time.
Mom to me is good, in decks that really want single creature evasion. I'd play her in my 1v1 Rafiq deck. I just don't think she finds enough synergy in other types of decks.
I just really don't like the efficiency level of Eternal dragon. We have enough options in white where I can't ever see myself thinking "Let's play this guy."
Rune-Tail can be timely and useful early game, but more often than not, I don't find the card interactive enough besides putting early pressure on three other players. That's not really my favorite thing to do, but the card is abusable in certain decks. Again, I don't think it finds enough homes to warrant a vote.
Grand Abolisher. He isn't fun to play around, but I think three competent opponents find a way a majority of the time. Usually against at least one opponent, he is a bear they don't really care for. I could see possible use in 1v1 if you're expecting something like counterspells, but even then, I think the guy playing mono blue has answers for him. I've never tried him out 1v1, but I've tested him to lackluster results in multiplayer.

I've tried Sunblast angel, but it didn't work out well. I would love for it to be good, because I have a flicker Dromar deck. My meta is very combo heavy, so no one really attacks until they think they can win. There's a few aggressive decks that might be ok. I feel like Sunblast is great against people that overextend, but not much else. I wish there was an angel like it that tapped all creatures someone controls, it'd make the angle a little better.
My Saffi deck
I agree. It can be a blowout in creature-heavy metas. I would compare Sunblast Angel to something like Mana Geyser. Sometimes you want to cast it and it's just not the right time, but when it is the right time it's a huge effect.
That being said, I don't run it in any deck, even my U/W blink deck. Because there are so many ways around "destroy" effects, especially when they allow for regeneration, I'd much rather run tuck Wraths like Terminus or versatile Wraths like Austere Command.
I don't think that it's so much over-extending, but any aggro deck. I agree that she's not much use against a combo meta.
Fully agree, wraths and tuck are usually better. I still stand by my belief, even though I know I'm in the minority.

I also voted for Grand Abolisher but not Mother of Ruins. In my opinion, Mother of Ruins is too narrow for multiplayer EDH. I think its solid in 1v1 but that isnt what this list is designed for. In multiplayer, she is slow to be able to protect things with summoning sickness. If you drop her in ahead of time then in my experience she tends to get swept in wrath effects. Wraths are very popular forms of removal in multiplayer EDH so thats the big nail in the coffin for her in my opinion. I still am not that keen on Abolisher but I think counterspell protection is probably better than spot removal protection and Abolisher still lends some level of protection against spot removal as well.
My vote ended up being the three angels and abolisher.

I did too but I think mom's gonna win.:(
Well, the voting process was designed so that the majority's thinking would win out. We might disagree with it but whatever the majority wants is what this list will reflect.
Its not like we are missing out on all that much even with her possibly making the list. The white creature list had a lot of low hanging fruit.

Yeah, it's a little difficult for votes, because you have to imagine some cards being played. Some cards on the list I've never seen played, but that is because they have better alternatives in either card type or color. You have to picture them in a vacuum instead of a meta almost, when you want to narrow down a vote to something like "best white creatures".
The premise of the vote isn't bad, you just have to adjust the way you think about evaluating a card for the purpose of the vote. Someone reading the list also has to understand this though, they can't look at it and build a deck with all all-star cards from the list, because we are going to have certain suboptimal cards on the list, even though they are the best of the defined criteria.
That being said, I'm going to try to put this practice a little more and try not to make arguments against a card because it has better options in a different card-type/color. I'm going to evaluate them as opposed to their peers.
