Swords and boots and hammers oh my. We know what gets played a lot in EDH decks.
What are some examples of equipment that has more niche uses or you think just needs more use as it's better than initially appears on paper?
My example is Mage Slayer. I took this out of Uril when I learned the damage didn't count as general damage then realized that with a 15 power Uril, that didn't really matter too much. And it laughs at chump blockers. And it has cool freakin' art.

Mage Slayer is such an underplayed gem, and if you're in those colors you probably have a big dumb beater.
Fireshreiker > deckwith fat general like avacyen
Empeyral plate > decks that fill hands
Think those both deserve more play but for sma dudes the swords are the core
Runechanter's Pike - For decks heavy on instants and sorceries Leering Emblem - For decks that have a low cmc, with or without mana reducers, and can play a ton of spells in one turn ...frequently
Infiltration Lens - Its great in some voltron commanders. Especially those that dont fly. It pairs up nicely with trample as well. I found it to be really really cool in Odric as well.
Mask of Memory - great on an attack based deck. I have found to be great in my Arelia and Thrun decks. It gives some nice draw to white for sure.
Sword of Vengeance - really nice set of abilities and really underutilized. I like having a creature attack out and still be around for defense. I really wish the equip cost had been two instead of three but its still good.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
Vorrac Battlehorns is exactly the kind of evasion you want when you have the biggest creature on the table.
Lashwrithe turns everything into a threat in mono-Black, equips for cheap/free, and comes with a body to toss into your favourite sac outlet.
Sword of Vengeance is a tidy package of synergistic keywords - a very jack-of-all-trades piece of equipment, and a decent addition to an otherwise robust equipment package.
I second Explorer's Scope, even without library manipulation it still ramps and nets you CA 40% of the time, for an unbelievably cheap price. Of course, it's even better with Top and similar cards.

I'll have to try this one as every time I looked at it I thought, could be cool.... but it's a card slot.... But you're right. In any non-green deck it's good as it will keep your beginning of turn draws from being dead.
Strata Scythe - The numbers can get crazy in a mono-colored deck.
Hedron Matrix - Equip 4 for just a P/T boost isn't really my scene, but with the right creature...

Not equipment, but this is why I like Druidic Satchel so much in decks that don't rely on traditional ramp.
O-Naginata has been really good in some Voltron builds I have done. Trinket Mage can find it, it is really cheap to drop and equip and gives evasion. Love it!
EDH is like French fries: some people like waffle cut, crinkle cut, or plain old straight cut, and while there's slight flavor difference and personal preference, at the end of the day they're still fries.
Deathrender - Considering all the crazy ETB effects that have been coming out lately, this card just screams value in almost any deck. Put it on an early chump blocker to cheat out something big, or strap it to someone you're about to sac anyways and laugh at the pitiful expression on your opponent's face.
a HUGE reason to play Neurok Stealthsuit over Lightning Greaves is the sheer amount of fear it places in your opponent's head over having one of the few removal spells they have access to being 'countered' by the Stealthsuit ability. When Greaves is equipped to a creature, your opponent clearly knows when they'll be able to cash in their spot removal (with the exception given to potential counterspells...very rarely do players face damage based removal in such high frequency that they are reduced to +/+ buff spells). Everything is up in the air when you have UU up with Stealthsuit out. God forbid you have a developed board state of creatures and multiple activations of Stealthsuit up. You can easily just counter two...three...four spot removal spells?
Of course, all of this falls prey to overextending into a board-wipe if you are overeager to troll your opponent. On the flipside, with relying on one or two creatures, Lightning Greaves is often much more mana efficient, despite being sorcery-speed.
I've never seen this card in play. Is it just me, or is this thing really REALLY good at killing planeswalkers?
This was going to be basically what I said as well. Everyone else has already grabbed my gems. I'll just second Vorrac Battlehorns. It's quite something in Animar.
People have mentioned most of mine... Mage Slayer, Explorer's Scope, Trailblazer's Boots, Vorrac Battlehorns, Mask of Riddles, Neurok Stealthsuit, Basilisk Collar, Deathrender.
The only one I can think of offhand to add is Nemesis Mask. Giving some useless creature Lure while all your better stuff charges in for damage is pretty good.

How I know I should build a deck:
Mage Slayer is such an underplayed gem, and if you're in those colors you probably have a big dumb beater.
I'll add Explorer's Scope, Horned Helm, Infiltration Lens, Kusari-Gama (fun with deathtouch!), Mask of Riddles, Neurok Stealthsuit, and Trailblazer Boots.
