I am pretty disinterested in him. His first ability is only getting you lots of loyalty when you either have a controlling board position or can play politics really well. He seems like a variable power indestructible guy who can't block and can be attacked by other creatures. I don't see any particular synergy with Zedruu, either.

Zedruu can give your cheap inoffensive creatures to the opponent thus getting you life and cards while also being able to use those creatures to pump up Gideon.
Sure it's clunky but I think it could worth a shot (and maybe a few laughs)
Nay. Planeswalkers are usually 1 or 2 shot sorceries that need to make an impact on the board.
Also, WOTC was nice enough to print out a whole bunch of anti-planeswalker cards (Magmaquake, Detention Sphere, Dreadbore, among the newest) that you need something that makes an impact or generate card advantage.
He feels like watching an episode of Dragonball Z to me. Always be charging for the spirit bomb, but sometimes not to fight a dude for a while, then after like 2 weeks (real time) you set it off and nothing lives.
If you like spending like 4 turns not doing anything just waiting for it to blow up the world, go for it. Why Zedruu though? With enough prison effects, you don't even need to blow up the world for advantages.

Clunky is an understatement.
Gideon is...well he's just not that good, especially in a format where a Planeswalker has to give you either insane utility or be immediately impactful to be worth even considering.

Or in a deck that can abuse their non-creature status - which a lot can. He isn't that great, but in an Obliterate deck he should be solid and if you can run him an a defensive Blink deck his ultimate could pretty much win you the game.
I think I'm one of the few people that are happy with this new Gideon. And it's for a deck that I don't even run anymore. Awhile back I had a Phelddagrif deck that had a pillowfort strategy(before the term pillowfort was coined) along with cards that synergized with giving my opponents life and creatures. This guy along with some other new cards makes me kinda wanna remake that deck.
Gideon is quite the win condition under Humility . Outside of that, you should only play him if you want a hard to deal with attacker but can protect him (which seems very niche). I would generally stay away from him.
Yay or nay?
