I have 12 full decks, all of them nearly completely foiled out, with many altered art cards for those that can't be foiled. Many of the cards I'm missing in foil are lands (extra copies of the RAV block duals mostly), so the price tag to finish them will be high. I currently count 72 cards among the decks, 34 of them lands (and five of them Solemn Simulacrum). At an average of $40 each (Jace bumps up that average some), we're talking about $3000 to finish them all.
I don't think any of them are individually well more expensive than others (Intet might be once it's done, since it has Jace, Cradle, Mana Drain, original duals, and a few Eldrazi in it). I'd put the value at each around $1200 to a high of maybe $1500. All things considered, Kresh might actually be a value since other than the FBB duals, Demonic Tutor, and Sol Ring there aren't any seriously high-cost cards in it.
My most expensive deck is Norin the Wary. all foiled out save the lands... all upgraded with much effort and searching and paying and searching and running away... and then finding them:: SUMMER MOUNTAINS
I'd probably go for Arabian Nights or Guru over summer. Pretty impressive though.
I proxy most of my EDH stuff (time/opportunity to play is not worth the full $ investment). Most expensive thing I'd throw in a deck would be an extended art altered Tundra from one of my Legacy decks.

I mean, hell, we're all on a forum for something that most people would describe as a "children's card game"...do what makes you happy. You are never too old to enjoy yourself.
I've been playing on and off since Revised, so I have playsets of Duals, and shocks. The only real budget that I have for deck ideas is if I choose to pick up foil or judge versions of cards.

Mayael's probably the most expensive deck I have at around 1.4k. Foiled everything that can be foil. Don't feel like upgrading from Revised duals though, as I use foil proxies for unfoilables anyway.

A mere ten days after the Mending, a young knight of Valeron and a young ranger of Eos made a discovery that would change Alara forever.
That's easy!! It's my Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind deck which is 99% foiled. I would guess it's worth more than $1300. The most expensive cards in it are UNL Volcanic Island, foil Scalding Tarns, foil Steam Vents, Force of Will, foil Misdirection, Judge foil Maze of Ith...
"I will flay the skin from your flesh and the flesh from your bones and scrape your bones dry. And still you will not have suffered enough." -Greven il-Vec, to Gerrard
According to TCGPlayer.com my Mikaeus deck is about 350 dollars roughly, not bad considering all i've put into it with my most expensive card being Elspeth, Knight-Errant
I'd say my most expensive decks are my Thrun 1v1 deck all foiled out. Most expensive are the foil tooth and nail, foil verdant catacombs, altered swords, etc. Also the 18x foil zendikar forests add a bit. My other one is 5 color but those decks are bound to be expensive what with 10 duals, 10 shocks, 10 fetches and all.
Mine is Karn, Silver Golem, which tcgplayer has at $600, but probably has another $75 in Beta / FBB in there. My most expensive card is Mana Crypt, then either Mutavault or my Beta Basalt Monolith. One day I'll get my Mishra's Workshop, and then all will be right in the world lol.
Umm my almost foiled out Teneb is like 1.5k most expensive are probably judge Gaea's Cradle, judge Vindicate, judge Demonic Tutor thats all. Ghave is the samething, since most of my Teneb cards is in that deck. Other's not expensive since most of them are not foils, my Xiahou Dun is Chinese simplified costs a $100 that's all.
Oh ffs I think I actually have a Japanese foil Steam Vent in my Niv-Mizzert deck, thats probably worth more than Judge Cradle and Xiahou.
I haven't done the calculations but my all-foil EDH deck is probably around $500-600 with the most expensive card being a foil DS Sword of Fire and Ice.

Before I deconstructed it to make other decks it was my Ghave. He was almost 2k most expensive cards were beta bayou and beta scrubland. That's about it. Most expensive deck now is Teysa with that beta scrubland in it now.
Id like to know where some of these people are getting their decklist pricings from, because with all the claims of 1k+, 2k+ decks, with the exception of Zakman most don't even hit the 1k mark, not even close to it. :-\

I have a spreadsheet for my Kaalia deck where I'm keeping track of every card I buy and how much I spend. I'm not even close to done, but I have done around $200 for it already.

I play a pretty optimized Oona list with a healthy amount of foils and foreigns, il have to come back and edit when i go through and determine a price, if i had to guess 900-1200. My top $$ cards are Grim Tutor, german foil Jace the Mindsculptor and unlimited Underground Sea. My question for the others with pimped decks but still play WB duals, do you play them for the ease of fetching, like i do? Or another reason? On the other hand i sometimes play a mono-black control (Geth, Chainer or Oona) that i payed really nothing for, as i traded for just about everything, worth about $150-$200 depending on what the build is at the time.
I think he's talking more about the people who are pulling up 4-digit numbers.
Yes exactly. I can understand there being a bit of a difference when taking into account foil/foreign cards, but when a non foil list at $200, is then claimed to be a 2k+ list, seems a little dubious.
