As a result of the recent banning of Primeval Titan there has been some talk about green still being/no longer being/never was the strongest colour in Commander. This has gotten me to wondering what the consensus is amongst the community. What better way to gauge the consensus than with a poll?
For the record, I personally believe that the order of colours is as follows: U>G=B>W>R. While I understand that green has some very powerful pieces of cardboard(I'm looking at you T&N/Survival of the Fittest), I still think that blue's options are better. Card advantage is still king in my opinion. Plus blue just seems to have more/better toys.
Hands down blue... Countering my Primeval by smart control players was getting annoying... I like ramping into degenerate combos like Tooth and Nail Avenger of Zendikar...
But then I guess my meta isn't as "casual" as most meta's...
I think blue has the most room in it as far as how deep the good card pool goes, although I think green has the absolute hands down most powerful staples.
I think any deck that has the color combination U/G in it is very dangerous as it puts creature tutors with blue...which in my opinion is the biggest thing it lacked.
Have a helicopter drop you off out front. Light your cigar with a small Indonesian boy holding a black lotus. Then bust out a craw wurm deck with no sleeves. Raw dog shuffle, loose terribly, flip the table, leave in a hovercraft.
Best card draw, best ramp, best form of removal, and best beaters (with tutors for them)... Yeah I think that's safe to say UG is king. On it's own probably blue. Green has an affinity with lands, but blue buddied up to artifacts and that seems like the better pairing.
Black offers lot to any deck it's in but UG just covers most of the bases well enough.
On a side note why even bother adding White and Red to the poll?... Don't tell me you're appeasing the Norin fanatics!
Part of me really wants to say it's B because of Demonic Tutor, Vampiric Tutor, Cabal Coffers, Exsanguinate, Yawgmoth's Will, Necropotence and the multitude of other unbelievable tools black offers but you'd be insane to not say U is the strongest color in EDH. In all honestly U is so strong its probably not even close.
My opinion, just based on all the cards and the whole singleton 40 life multiplayer format.
U>B=G>W=R
Red and white play very differently. If they get back LD in any playgroup without whining, and white can play STAX and tax decks well, they can actually pull out of green or black some day. But WotC doesn't like those type of cards, so it's white weenie and burn spells all day everyday. That's cool too, but they don't scale well is always a problem.

That'd be my pick too. There's too much goodstuffs in black, insane tutors, crazy doods... They just nudge green outta the way in EDH imo
At least as far as power level goes. Even losing Prime Time won't hurt green all that much, the color still ramps insanely well, it can easily get to the late game while most other players are still setting up. Blue has a lot of great answers, some nice combo options, is really easy to go infinite with. Black has the best tutors by far, is king of the graveyard, and has good removal. White has the best removal via exile effects, some pretty solid creatures, but still lacks a bit. The best red can do in the format involves LD-based strategies, most playgroups do not permit or at least highly discourage LD so....

And most other options cant/aren't worth copying or stealing as a blue player.
Green hands down. Ramp is the path to victory. EDH is a lot about the resource grind and green is the best at it so naturally just have green in your 2, 3, or 5 color deck and you're instantly better off for the mana-fixing and GY shenanigans. Mono-colored decks lack versatility so I'm not saying it's the best on it's own nor are any of the other colors. Also green is the most fun color in magic. That's why Timmy players gravitate towards it.
Also combo decks can suck it. Boring way to win, and takes the fun out of the game for other people.
Blue is by far the best color, and white is by far the weakest (as a mono-color -- red's looting effects elevate it above white in mono colors, though as a support color the distinction is more ambiguous).
Seriously, there are very few blue legends that I wouldn't consider tier 2 or better. Almost all of those are from Legends, the set where they pretty much said "make it a legend! we don't care!"
With red and white on the bottom, and blue on top, that leaves green and black in the middle. Which is better between those two is very hard to answer, so I'll cop out and put them equal.

Not as boring as turning dudes sideways. At least combos can be interesting, the idea of all these crazy spells and artifacts interacting with eachother or building off of eachother is far far more interesting and visually appealing to the mind's eye than a dude or a bunch of dudes running at someone.

Kinda have to agree and disagree at the same time. Turning dudes sideways is fun, can be very intensive and also is a great risk. Also, loads of enchantments can be made into engines for combat tricks.
But yeah, turning dudes sideways decks need to have cogs and interactions, but not really combos. Straight up Stonebrow with no other theme is bad though.

Let me clarify that statement. I don't like infinite combos that win on the spot unless answered.
I love cards with synergies that interact well with one another. I just don't want the game to be moving along and then someone just busts out their combo and wins. They should just go and play solitaire.
It's meta and house rule dependent, but in general I would put U and G at the top of the heap, B in the middle, then R then W. I don't know why people are putting R in last place. It hits harder than White. White is great at annoying the hell out of people, but when you annoy people in EDH, you get dog piled.

"I think EDH would be more fun for the majority of participants if players just showed eachother their decks rather than actually playing games out."
Ill say blue, just for the huge card advantage and the counterspell/bounce/steal thing....
And i tend to disagree about white. Its probably one of the most balance color imo, have answers for everything, even have kind of ramp with land tax, endless horizon and such, have solid creatures...the only thing lacking is draw, but artifact can usually help a lot for that.
Green is strong, but not that strong on his own. Ramp and big guys are incredible, but its to difficult to deal with specific creature.
And black, just the fact it cannot deal with enchantment and almost not with artifact, thats hard.
Red..... well......red

Ive always found that people tend to play red and white as splash colours. You see those colours a lot, but not at the forefront of the deck. Theyre mostly for sweepers and buffs.

U > G = B > W = R
if you ask me U > B > G > R > W
I could be inclined to also agree with this.
This is also kinda common knowledge or hearsay...
I don't believe (or want to believe :p) that blue is that far ahead, but w/e.

Red easily worst colour.
