Nine pages and not ONE mention of Arcanis, the Omnipotent?!
He's omnipotent!
Get a couple of untap effects (pemin's aura, etc) and he's so omnipotent I can't even imagine what to do with him.
The other legend that came to my mind is Squee. It seems to me that an early squee could be a CRAZY amount of card advantage through the game if you were playing with the right cards. I only wish I could play Red/Black with him. Anyone have any ideas?
So far I have to say i'm pleased with Kaervek the Merciless even if he does take a bit of mana to get out. Tsabo Tavoc right now is kind of my Lt. in my deck that i'm trying out to see if I might want to switch over to her.
Kaervek the Merciless is pretty awesome. The only downside being his CC, which makes him a beast to replay. Other than that, a versatile, powerful effect that works even when he is Pacified or can't attack is brilliant. Tsabo Tavoc is an old (friggin awesome) favorite of mine, since she is anti-general, and has a pretty nasty power level (7 power generals, with "unblockable from other generals" is pretty good >_>). And a healthy 7/4 first strike for the rest of their creatures!
Oona is fantastic, but similar to Kaervek.
Oona, Queen of the Fae
is a better creature for less cc though, but hardly a better effect (especially in multiplayer). However, what essentially becomes a Sacred Mesa on a stick is impressive. Not sure I'd "combo" it with guys like Blackguard, since I can think of a million better cards for a BU control deck.
And what's this about MBC EDH being less powerful? >_> Packing the best of MBC in one deck is scary, and efficient as well. It even gains power from the fact that it has more life to spend on certain effects. Hatred+unblocked general= GG.
Also, nobody has mentioned the Myojin cycle. All of them are exceptional in EDH. Indestrucible generals, until you feel like unleashing a nasty ability? They get even better in multiplayer. And HUGE kudos for being able to play the ability at instant speed, AND keeping your dude.
I guess you could throw in a singleton That Which Was Taken to randomly screw over your opponents for good.
Hell, I vote for the Myojin cycle to be included. Indestructible legends+awesome abilities are too good. (and the cc doesn't matter as much in EDH)
Oh, and I hope everyone added a copy of Runed Halo to their Zur decks... Pretty good I hear!

if you play the Myojin from the RFG zone they dont get a counter. they pretty much suck as a general...great in a deck tho
Oh, I thought there was a general idea that Generals had to be hardcasted (the reason they use that "from your hand" clause), and therefore counted as being played from your hand.

Nope. It isn't. Otherwise, the black myojin would be .... very very much so general ban worthy.

I just built my first deck. I chose Wort, The Raidmother. Conspire on everything is good times.
Yeah, like G/R Tokens and start throwing big burn spells and conspire them. I can just imagine some of the cool things that can come out of that. like throw a Searing Wind conspired. or Parallel Evolution! That would be a really fun deck to pilot.

Got any Rampant Growth-type spells in there to conspire out? Weeding out mana is good fun.

They love and hate to see me walk through the door. I'm the man with the box, one to carry all his Standard cards with him. I've got the commons and uncommons they need. But I've also got my decks. If I walk into FNM, I came to play. And they never know what I'm gonna pull out of my hat next. I may lose more than I win, but it just might be THIS deck that has all the answers that they don't have answers for. They fear the unknown. They fear me. And they never see me coming!
I'd place Tsabo, Oona, and Kaervek above some of those... And Zur rarely wins in our games. I mean, generally people pack so many forms of removal for generals, that they rarely get to attack, much less start becoming an engine.
I think Akroma, Angel of Fury/Wrath are superb (in my top 5 anyways), simply because the mass protection (or uncounterability) are one of the key ways to successfully beat face. It's kind of like Zur coming into play with 5 enchantments already attached.
I want to nominate Iname, Death Aspect for the top 5. From what i have played with it, its close to unstoppable. With how many tutors there are, you can win with anyone of MassReanimateSpells or Mortal Kombat. I have had multiple Turn 5 Victories with it. and its very consistent for being a Highlander deck.

How is a ton of creatures a one trick pony? its Major Trick, then a bunch of minor ones just in case the crowd doesnt like the major one. The deck has gone into aggro mode a couple times and did pretty well. its not as fragile as a lot of combo decks. Because all the combo pieces are playable creatures. not really amazing ones. but you can still lay down the beats when needed. If i see a Leyline, then obviously i dont go for the combo part of the deck. The other two are harder to avoid, and i havent really seen them come out before during any of the EDH games i have played with any of my decks.
But the existence of cards that can beat me, doesnt make it a bad deck. see Dragonstorm when 9th was still legal. See Revilark decks. the BR Tokens deck. all those are combo decks, the first two one would think dies with the pure existence of Extripate, but dont. Thus, while you have a good point on those cards are very hard to deal with, i have a point in saying this: Leyline doesnt make me not want to play a graveyard based combo deck, Wrath doesnt make me not want to play aggro and Thoughtsieze doesnt make me not want to play control. all of the aforementioned cards hose the following deck archtypes. Yet people still win despite.

I don't know how good black spirits are with out looking. Mind posting a list?
@ your strawman: Reveillark decks are and dragonstorm were very resistant to hate. If you stop the combo part of reveillark you have a bad blink deck. Dragon storm could stop almost anything with remand or gigadrouse.
@ your second straw man noe of the mentioned cards 100% stop the named deck type exept Leyline, and if you're expecting leylines for day and you play Ichorid, you're not winning many matches.
Also Patriarch's Bidding is very good with Iname, if you missed it.

First: i said playable. not really good, most of them. But in a pinch, you can cast them. I am looking for better spirits to add. but i have what i have, and until i change it, then it stays the same.
With what i currently have, thats the list. i am working on getting a few better spirits. but i cant find some of the cards i need, like Keening Banshee and Midnight Banshee, and i need to actually get the money for others like Bidding and Living Death.
I've settle on B/R for my EDH colors but am torn between Tsabo Tavoc and Lyzolda, the Blood Witch. Tsabo seems good cuz it basically says "Kill target general." but its rather expensive and I wouldn't get to play it more than once. Lyzolda is cheap and powerful but is very, very vulnerable. >.<
Tsabo is better than Lyzolda for a general. Generals are meant to be bombs when they hit, for those long games. Lyzolda will die often enough that she'll still end up costing a ton. She also "encourages" sacrificing, which isn't that great in these long drawn out games, and the Shock she does isn't nearly as effective.
Tsabo is not only a beast- 7/4 first strike, pro legends- but her ability is just stupid good in this format. She's capable of killing a person in 3 hits, and can't be blocked by other generals or legends. And 7cc isn't that bad when you are playing with Sol Rings and such.
He's omnipotent!

BB to destroy target General is evil, however, I agree the casting cost is a bother. Seems elite once its out though...
