blood funnel for those of you who don't remember every magic card ever
i came across this gem in a 7 for $5 bin at my local game store and i think I've struck gold for my specific needs at least, specifically a staxish Shirei deck i could definitely see it causing some sticky situations in decks without enough token production or recursion, but when suddenly your diabolic tutor has become a demonic tutor this cards value really shines, and on top of that its a sac outlet so what does everyone think? thoughts, opinions, comments, anything is welcome as long as it isnt "OMG SO BAD L2P"
PROS:
extra sac outlet
gives a nice break in cost on all non creature spells
doesn't seem like a card that will generate enough hate to have anyone waste spot removal on it while also being the sturdiest of permanent types
CONS:
MUST sacrifice any time you want to play a non creature spell
wraths can put you in a very bad situation if you have no creatures in hand
just causes issues in general if your deck doent have a fairly balanced creature to non creature count.
i plan on testing it in my Shirei deck and if it gives good results ill definitely keep everyone updated, it'll probably be two weeks or so before im all settled into college again to get solid tests, but i believe this card has a lot of promise.
5 Color Cromat with tons of tutoring that doesn't reveal the card. Play a few classic playing cards, a couple Uno Draw 4s (Ancestral Recall eat your heart out), some basic Pokemon for defense, a Get Out of Jail Free card, and have assembling all five pieces of Exodia be your win condition. People will flip because EXODIA!? IMPOSSIBLE! NOBODY'S EVER BEEN ABLE TO SUMMON HIM!
Yeah, keep us updated because I think your deck has to be specifically tailored to use this card...and needs a sac outlet for it. (I also thought Mishra was the only guy that really liked this card.)
It's great in Mishra, Artificer Prodigy. You cast an artifact, reduce its cost by 2, let it be countered by not sacking a guy, and then resolve Mishra's ability to put the countered card into play from your graveyard. (Similar to his interaction with Nether Void and a couple of other cards)

that it does, i didn't know of the existence of that card, but now i plan on testing that out in Shirei as well, so i thank you it is somewhat of a narrow card that requires specific decks, but to me it seems like an absolute bomb in the decks that it fits properly. Shirei, mishra, or chainer are probably the best decks to abuse this card in but in any deck that loves to sac like savra i could definitely see the upside to this card, is it narrow and constricting at times, sure is, but if you have a deck where the sacing doesn't matter, and might even be useful, then this card could get you a lottttt of mileage for something you could probably pick up for $00.20 online

I think there's a storm combo deck to be built with Mishra, Blood Funnel, and a lot of rituals, cantrip artifacts, Twiddle effects, etc.. Would be difficult as hell to play, but very rewarding to do something with one of the "useless" generals.
i actually am liking this card more with each comment, it has insane synergy with a lot of cards, i definitely see it as worth playing in decks that sac, or mishra who doesn't care about the sacing but well see the results once i get to test this all

Not necessarily. Play Mishra as a general and just have it countered, then use use his trigger to get the artifact into play.
true enough, but that's only for a single general, i think we've established its a fairly awesome bomb in Mishra, im more curious of what people think of it in a non mishra deck that plays lots of sac effects.

Basically what Meritocracy said in Shirei - Ashnod's altar is pretty much strictly better, but if you want a second one I guess it isn't terrible?
yeah i get that its basically a strictly worse ashnods, but isnt ashnod basically the first sac engine anyone runs? i know its the first i put in any deck im sacing stuff in. im not sure that the fackt its a worse version of ashnods makes it any less playable, thats why its playable in my opinion. its a a second version of one of the best sac outlets for people who cant spend $1000 to have every tutor ever printed in all their black decks

I draft and play EDH. If a Standard player can't understand who a card is for, it's probably for me.
I also write things about good films.

also reading this really makes me want to build a mishra deck now and here i thought I'd take a break on spending money on mtg for a while
