I love the Ultrapro Matte sleeves. My only issue is that before they are stacked tightly in a box along with my other decks, they tilt one way (all of my cards have to face the same way. OCD n'at).
After spending 24 hours in a box with my other decks (packed a bit tight) they are perfect.
The only UP sleeve I would not get are the clear ones. I have them on my Skullbriar deck and they slide everywhere.

Thanks to Heroes of the Plane for the awesome Sig.
The Commander's Arsenal sleeves are pretty nice; all of them perfectly cut, fit snug on the card, and IMHO look good. One draw back, they are not accommodating for perfect fits because of the snug fit.

I disagree, mine had the top layer of plastic peeling off after less than a week.
I don't know how much this will help you, but I put my double sleeved (the outer sleeves are UltraPro Matte) Mimeo deck in an old iPhone 3 box. It fits perfectly.
Oh, and one more thing: I will Never buy Max Protect sleeves again. I have a few sets for my Animar, Niv, and Sharuum decks. All of them are starting to split and all of the are scuffed far worse than any of the other sleeves I have.

Never, ever, ever, ever, EVER get art sleeves. They will always disappoint on the durability front. The manufacturing process for such sleeves hasn't been developed well enough to prevent them from peeling after moderate use.
Dragonshields are probably the most durable but they shuffle like garbage even fresh out of the package.
KMC Matte are terrible, don't bother. Perfect fits inside of another sleeve however are standard practice for a lot of people because of their quality.
UP Matte sleeves shuffle the best by an extremely large margin, and will last a long time if you don't shuffle like an idiot (pushing the cards together from the front is stupid, I don't know why so many people have picked up that habit. If you're going to push them together, do so from the BACK). They don't accommodate perfect-fits 100% of the time, but once you wear them in a little you can usually slide them in with minimal effort.
You will come across old batches of UP that live up to their old reputation though, so be aware of that. It mostly happens with unpopular colors (ie: colors that have been sitting around for a while and likely aren't new).

I've not had any problems with KMC mattes. You're the first person I've heard call them terrible - I've heard complaints about them, but not heard them called "terrible".
KMC Mattes all the way, with perfect fits inside. I bulk ordered 3k of each for all my decks in 2009 (I've got 11 EDH decks and 15 60-card stacks i carry regularly). I still havent run out, they all shuffle just fine, and apart from minor scuffing on the back, no issues at all. I've split less than 50 sleeves since 2010, and they have far better quality control than Dragon Shields (seriously - they tend to be cut unevenly, and one box came with some tape accidentally stuck to the sleeves inside).
Besides, I've triple sleeved my favorite EDH decks in character guards so I can play EDH on my floating jacuzzi table. Works crazy well once you let the air out of them.

Ultra Pro Mattes are, by far, my favorite sleeves for EDH. They mash-shuffle extremely easily and are far more durable than people give them credit for. That said, I HAVE had them split before (3 sleeves in the past 2 years in 2 different decks out of 6 with these sleeves) and they only come in 5 colors. I don't understand WHY they only come in 5 colors, since I would love to have a different color sleeve for each of my decks so they're easily distinguishable, but I guess you can't have it all!
As far as Dragonshields go, I gave them a shot for my pimped Uril deck (because foils show better in them than UPMattes and because I wanted to try out different sleeves) and have found that after a few months of wear, they start being extremely hard to shuffle. They stick together, making mash-shuffling a chore and making you feel as if you're never fully randomizing your deck. As such, I don't recommend them and am actually phasing out my dragonshields for KMC Mats to try them out. I will say, though, that they hold up forever and it is nice to open up 2-3 extra sleeves per pack with DSs
The KMC Mats seem great so far. I was disappointed that they aren't matte-fronted like the UPMattes, but they shuffle almost as well and seem very durable.

KMCs with kmc perfect fit are what I like the most though I do use some dragonshields which are a bit unwieldy and have high variance from pack to pack and ultra-pro matte which are cheap.
I am known by my playgroup as the "DragonShield Splitter" because i have split so many dragon shields. I use the proper sleeved deck shuffling technique, and i ensure that i use the bottom corner entry into the pile not the top corner. I think i can count maybe 15 sleeves i've split in the bottom corner over the past 4 months. A vast majority of them are Red and they all came from the same pack, so there is a good chance there was a quality control issue from that particular pack of sleeves.
Anywho, i still use em, and stand by them. I just have a large collection of sleeves to show people who say they are "unsplittable"

That sucks hardcore! Hope the ones I'm using don't do that; limited to how I can replace those sleeves.

Ya, i think they are the same, or at least very similar.
