I was playing my first ever EDH tournment and I'm using my Thraximundar and Zombie Master out with a Shizo, Death's Storehouse and a [/card]Maze of Ith[/card] out the other two are using Horde of Notions and Nicol Bolas. Nicol takes Horde with a mind control and starts beating on me and I take the damage, 15 of it to be be precise (for some reason i didn't use the maze bad play number 1). I then proceed draw my 7th mana and knock him out of the game with a swampwalking Thrax. horde kills my zombie master and I then start beating him down with thrax and hes chumping with white tokens and im not realizing that I could have just given him fear with Shizo and ended the game (bad play number 2). I somehow won that game but it cam dangerously close to loosing it because of my own stupidity of not using my lands. needless to say i now use my lands to the fullest extent

I will be typing up deck lists as soon as I an be bothered, I really only play EDH:
That's not even correct...he should've taken the spell back, because he clearly stated something illegal.
Actually it is correct. Not reading your own cards is not an excuse to play them improperly. A judge could be lenient and give you a warning, but they're well within their rights to hold you to your mistake.
I hate when someone plays a horn of greed-ish card and i only draw 1.
Technically -- at least for Horn of Greed -- I believe that it is a compulsory effect so if you forget to draw a land immediately after you play a land, you must in fact draw a card regardless, as long as you catch your mistake within the same turn.
A couple days ago I wanted to die for throwing two kills away.
One game, I was playing Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief and got an opponent up to 10 General Damage. I pump her up to 10 power for a second attack, with one Swamp untapped, thinking of 20 General Damage as my target. I had to wait two more turns to get him out and I took a lot of hits in the meantime.
Essentially the same thing happened in the next game (5 players), where I was playing Multani, Maro-Sorcerer. I had just killed one tapped-out player after giving Multani haste with Hall of the Bandit Lord, and another player was left defenseless. Multani died before my turn came around, but I had two Eldrazi Spawn and six lands out. To cast him again, I sacrificed just one Spawn and played a Forest, swinging at the open player... Only to find out that Multani was just 20/20 because I played that Forest rather than sacrificing both spawn and keeping it in hand. Should've counted hand sizes before playing him.

I got an emrakul to come in off of jhoira and there was one player that I knew had a Man-o'-War in his hand because he tried to cast it earlier in the game before realising he had no blue mana and I didn't attack him on either turn. He had blue mana available the next time he tried to cast it

From MaRo
Every rarity gets good cards. That means that some mythic rares will be tournament quality as will some commons, some uncommons and some rares. My promise wasn't that mythic rares wouldn't get good cards but that we wouldn't limit the good cards to only being mythic rare.
Bear this in mind the next time a powerful mythic rare is spoiled
Thanks to chaostheory90 for finding this quiz for me
I frequently Warp World for like 60 and a card forces me to draw a card when I have none left in my library. Going to add Obstinate Familiar just to help with that.

Erm, you don't have to put the cards into play with Genesis Wave...

i usually catch it when someone else draws from a land drop and i hit myself on the forehead.
Playing a match of Lin Sivvi, Defiant Hero (Me) vs Eight-and-a-Half-Tails (My friend) He attacked me with his general while I had Academy Rector out and He had no mana open. I've blocked with the rector and tutored up Faith's Fetters dumping it on His general. I'm surprised it worked, He's been playing Tails as a general for about 6 months now and never made that mistake before.
I hate it when Than happens.
That happens to the best of us.

Pauper Cube
I cube, I play EDH, and I can't afford Legacy. The other formats can suck it.

...True, but then they would go to his graveyard. Which would be the same outcome (no cards to draw) as the original situation.
Steel Sabotage'ng Orbs of Mellowness since 2011.
it ended up pretty much costing me a turn and more because I had to play catch up on my lands (I think I wasted a tutor for a kodama's reach....)
I still ended up winning but it took like 7 extra turns to combo out and I almost didn't manage it.
Man, this is out of date. I'll fix it up later
