I’ve been playing magic for about 2 years now and just started EDH this year and I’ve always sleeved my decks. I was wondering what peoples thoughts where on what are the best sleeves to use with an EDH deck (since there’s usually a lot of money invested in them I know there is in mine).
I personally prefer Dragon shields since for a few reasons;
1. Their tough, I brought a set of green ones when I first started and there was a flood where I kept my cards and I lost nearly all of my collection apart from the deck that had the shields on them and the sleeves still shuffled well after I dried them off. I only had to toss them out recently because my friend got stupidly drunk and decided to take a piss all over my collection including a very expensive deck (multiple Planswalkers and titans) and my dragon shields protected them then I also had my EDH deck in different dragon shields and they also got pissed on but not one card got ruined. My other EDH deck which had some other sleeves on them that I got for free (a temporary thing until I got some better ones) half of that deck got destroyed.
2. the price, they are the most expensive sleeves that I have been able to find ($10-$15 for 100) and usually when I pay a little more money for something I expect them to be better
3. The box that they come in can be used as a deck case if you don’t have a spare one (I want to thank the genius that came up with making a box of sleeves that you can actually use the box to hold the deck its saved me a lot of trouble)
4. Just the name I mean dragon shields is an awesome name
Anyway that’s why I like dragon shields what’s peoples opinion on these and other sleeves that are best suited for EDH ideally

I will be typing up deck lists as soon as I an be bothered, I really only play EDH:
I like the cheap Ultra Pro for standard, but for EDH, they slip too easily when I'm holding 100 cards in my hand. for EDH, I like the Max Protect. They're really good sleeves and you can find some with atrocious art on them.
KMCs are the way to go. They break a little more frequently than I like, but they are very durable otherwise. I had a cube for a long while and I sleeved it in dragonshields the first time. After a month of 2 cubes a week the dragon shields were wrecked. I then bought KMCs and they lasted for over 6 months (with a single sleeve breaking once a draft) with the same play regularity.
All my decks use Dragon Shields, except for my Sakashima deck which uses KMC sleeves that simply refuse to deteriorate even after 4+ years of play.
I don't know about you chris_nwo2sweet, but I haven't had problems with Dragon Shield sleeves fraying. Maybe it's just me, but I know others like them for the same reason.

I used to use Dragon Shields, but they stick together far too much for me.
I currently use Ultra Pros.
I used to use Dragon Shields, but for some reason they gunk up faster for me than other people. Most of my decks can use the same Ultra Pros for about a year before they really start to dull out.
I've also started using these "metallic rose series" Japanese sleeves. They shuffle like knives through butter - we'll see how long these last before I pass final verdict.
My buddies and I said we'd get the scantily-clad-elf-on-dragon ones (or something similar) when we made EDH decks. For jokes.
We never did and just used our Dragon Shields or others we had lying around. They work, but I'd never been able to get all 100 in the box, so I switched to some older junky ones. The DS boxes hold a regular 75-card deck well, though.
I have sweaty hands, so Dragon Shields go to crap after about a month. KMC are ok, but they become a PITA to shuffle after a while. Ultra Pro is my sleeve of choice right now, as they are pretty nice and are half the price of the other 2.
I like ultra-pro. I don't like graphics on my sleeves, they're pretty cheap, extremely durable, and they're the only sleeves I can find locally that are sold in packs of 100.
I've been using Ultra Pro; first 4 sets of sleeves I've aquired. Got them for a really cheap deal too (something like $3.00/100 ... a bunch of my friends got together and bought bulk). Really good non-slip/non-stick. Was disappointed with the durability though. About 5% fall apart at the seams; very awkward when you only get 100 sleeves and you have 100 cards in your decks and 5 of your sleeves decide to start ripping on you. Nevertheless, for the price, I'll probably still buy Ultra Pro, and just buy a few extra (if I can) to replace my broken ones.
I use some Silver Dragon Shield sleeves for my Kumano deck and they are much better then most of the other sleeves I've used. I also have these other black sleeves that are very slippery, but haven't ripped or cracked from being used.
Anyone know what the "mana symbol" sleeves are like by ultra pro? I want to get some for my foil EDH deck but I'm concerned they'll keep their pattern about as long as their mana symbol boxes do.
EDH, on the other hand, is more like a monster truck rally. It's more about the spectacle than the race, the games go long, and it's not usually clear who's in the lead until there's only one truck left.*
Single player EDH is like two guys smacking each other with pillows... until one of them pulls out a shotgun.

I absolutely love Dragon Shields. I have never had one single sleeve break over rigorous use. Ultra Pros shred like wet tissues. KMCs are high quality but too stiff for my tastes.
I've never been shortchanged on the number of sleeves in my DS purchases but I will agree that every once in awhile you'll get a box with miscut sleeves, which is aggravating. All in all, though, they are my favorites.

This, xOVER 9000. I loathe ultrapro sleeves to the point of actually grimacing when I see other people using them. They're garbage and usually wear out within a week or so of steady play. For the money, you might as well save up and get Dragonshields or KMC.
DS sleeves normally get the job done, but lately I've been using KMC, and I must say, they're quickly becoming my top pick.

Dang, that must be some violent shuffling then
Like I said in a previous post, my deck has been using the same Ultra Pros for about a year with no problem. I dunno what Ultra Pro did, but I think within the past year or two they really upped the quality of their sleeves. I suppose it also depends on your hands - Dragon Shields have great durability, but they gunk up quickly in my hands and KMC is even worse. I prefer matte finishes because they feel crisp when I'm shuffling them.

oh, totally. When someone looses life? we jam the card into their skull, along the lines where the bone fused. it's a nice life lesson, I think; Play tight, or die.
I'll also concede to the fact that Dragonshields get dirtier than a hobo in a back alley desperate to make a buck, but I've never had a problem with KMCs other than a few scuff marks.

Between my decks, I use all three major brands (Ultra Pro, KMC, Dragon Shield). My thoughts on each:
-Ultra Pros of all kinds are the least slippery. Play a couple of games with them and they will never slide around again. They are also the worst quality - I tend to get a breakage every month or so, so make sure you have spares. But they are cheap and have a wide selection.
-KMCs are sort of intermediate. The matte ones are still quite slippery when moving over each other, but somehow grip to your hands very well, making them very easy to shuffle. I use these for my normal decks now because of this. Just be careful not to knock your deck, otherwise it will end up everywhere. And they also do the perfect fit sleeves, which are wonderful, although they will not fit properly upside-down in KMC or Ultra-Pro sleeves (and seriously, why would you want them right-side-up?).
-Dragon Shields are boss. They are quite slippery both to the touch and moving over each other, but they are large enough to fit said inner sleeve upside-down, they are thick, and they don't break (unless, apparently, you have some really odd shuffling habits, as evidenced by earlier posts). I use them for my Sliver Queen deck and mash shuffle it multiple times each game, but haven't had a single breakage in 4 months of regular play, which is much more than I can say for the other two brands. I've also never had dirt problems.
As to which is best: none of them. It depends what you want.
I use Dragon Shields as my sleeve of choice. I started out with Ultra Pros, that got absolutely filthy and ripped all the time, but I have never had an incident with DS.
Recently though I forgot that I hated Ultra Pro and picked up some of the Nicol Bolas art ones. Worst decision ever. The picture starts to peel off the back and the edges became frayed within a week. Furthermore, the sleeves bulge out because of the art for some reason, making them a lot thicker (but in reality its just lots of extra air). If you absolutely HAVE to get ultra pros, never get any with art on them, as they are by far the worst protectors I have ever seen.

The sleeves in one of my DS boxes was cut wrong by the edges so it gets kinda hard to draw the right number of cards sometimes, but in general I'm satisfied with DS
That sounds like what I've heard other people have in my area say when they have a problem with DSes. As long as they're cut correctly (which they usually are), they're golden.
