Quoting myself here because I think both of these definitely belong on the list. The Library itself is just plain awesome, you should be running plenty of shuffle effects anyway (especially with Green's land ramping). Abundance is fine on it's own but with Library it really shines since together it lets you draw 3 cards a turn without life loss.
Candles of Leng should also be on the list for Artifacts. I like it better than Divining Top though I run both. Skullclamp is pretty sick. I also think Vedalken Orrery deserves a spot though I suppose it's debatable.
I don't think that the vivid lands are exactly staples. i would play Reflecting Pool and probably even City of Brass over them any day, personally I can't get past the CIP tapped clause.
It's not in every deck, but many decks do benefit from Lightning Greaves.
I will also suggest Harmonize. Every G deck without U run it.
I respectfully disagree with Yarg's suggestion of Abundance. IMO, it is good in some decks, but given the intrinsic recursive ability of generals, card advantage is a lot better than Abundance's card quality effect.
As for Sylvan Library, it is a card I've been wanting to try in this format. I'm going to add it to my buy list.
Genesis is in, for going against those wrath effects or removal. Lightning greaves for speed and untouchability, vedalken orrery is in, its always great to have flash creatures and sorceries, bribery is in, for when you want to steal that darksteel colossus or sundering titan. Oh, and sundering titan is in too.
A couple of others came to mind as stuff I've ebayed because I use them so often:
Safewright’s Quest: Run in a land slot. Scuttlemutt: Automatic for almost all non-G decks. Land Grant: Run in a forest slot. Illuminated Folio: Automatic for any non-U monocolor deck. Wildslayer Elves
Provoke: Mono-G removal that probably deserves discussion. Also the SHA GGGone... Primalcrux fits that deck too.
I think Elspeth will eventually be on this list too. She's just so freakin' versatile.
Looking at the list again: What do folks think about Squee? He seems a bit combo-ish. I don't run him very often.
Teneb, the Harvester >>>> Doran, the Siege Tower imo. Doran is cheaper, but this is EDH, who cares? Teneb's effect is much greater over the course of the game as it gets back anythind that dies.
Because this list is going to balloon out of control given the amount of awesome, playable cards, perhaps we should limit the staples to a "Top 10" list per colour?
This would show players the top 10 cards they'd need for artifacts, colours or lands and would let them know that those cards will always wind up in their EDH decks.
What do you guys think?
Also, or perhaps alternatively, would anyone else be interested in contributing to a thread that attempted to list the top 10 or top 15 EDH staple commons? EDH can be an expensive format and I think that new players would benefit from knowing the best top commons of each colour (including land & artifact) to acquire. Let me know if you'd be interested and I'll start a thread on that, too (which will hopefully supplement this one).
I wholeheartedly agree with Azbander with regards to Teneb vs. Doran.
but i would place Shattering Pulse above Shattering Spree as it has a greater effect over the course of the game. not just a one-trick, albeit, very effective, pony.
last i checked Capsize was still not on the list and it really really should be.
All the Planeswalkers are to be included.
Reusable free effects in a format where they can last turns => Staples!
True, but the power of some 'walkers is greater than others in the format.
White Ajani = meh
New Ajani = alright, nothing exciting, ultimate is great but will never set off
Chandra = reusuable removal, fun little annoyance, playable, ultimate not as exciting in edh
Elspeth = evasion giving, ultimate is best in EDH IMO
Garruk = always great
Vol = threaten is good, but won't last long, ultimate sucks in the format
Tezzeret = in the right deck is great
Liliana = wonderful in EDH. Reusuable tutor, and second best ultimate for edh

All plainswalkers? really? I might play Ajani because he can go off randomly (if the opponent doesnt get creatures out early and give you a 40/40, but I wouldnt play Chandra Nalaar, Jace Beleren, Tezzeret, the seeker or Ajani vengeant. I probably woudlnt play Sarkhan Vol either. the fact that they just sit there and dont have an ability to protect themselves is the hardest to pull off. Garruk at least can throw in a beast or just untap lands to play blockers, ajani is a bit iffy but at least he can make blockers bigger or just gain you life.
I do play Chandra Nalaar but again I don't know that she has to be in EVERY deck that has red. Especially in single player duels it's four turns to game over.
Rancor is close to an autoinclude however; unless your entire deck already has trample it's effects are too good to pass up.
I'm not big on Candles of Leng when I could just have Jayemdae Tome. I know the Candles come out for one but the two cards both have the same activation cost, you don't have to reveal the card, and the extra casting cost is not particularly apt in EDH.
I agree on the candles. It holds up too much of mana for one card continuously. I would probably rather play the Illuminated Folio. As far as Rancor goes, most, if not all mly green creatures have trample, and the other colors have evasion (fear, shadow or flying). So it might end up being a dead card or jsut a +2/+0 pump.
Another card I wanted to add was Teferi's Isle. I dont know much about the phasing rule, i figure the land would phase out at the end of turn, then phase in at the begining of the the untap step right?
Do you guys know any other lands, asides from the ravnika lands like Golgari Rot Farm that generate TWO colored manas. Kind of like Temple of the false god but with colors to it. I dont mean filters, but actual lands that produce multiple coplored mana.

Not at all. Permanents in play with phasing "phase out" at the beginning of the untap step (before you untap). Simultaneously, currently phased out permanents "phase in". So, here's a list of your turns. (not opponents)
T1: Play Teferi's Isle, CIPT.
T2: Isle phases out.
T3: Isle phases in, then is untapped.
T4: Isle phases out.
T5: Isle phases in, then untaps if appropriate.
etc.
This makes Teferi's Isle a very conditional sort of "ramping". Its a fun card but I'm not convinced it's actually good.

I don't think so. Lotus Vale is likely the only one.
