Played EDH for the first time last night. Here are a few rookie observations:
1.) Arcanis, the Omnipotent is a beast.
2.) Rafiq of the Many is an outstanding choice for General.
3.) Merieke Ri Berit is another outstanding choice for General.
4.) I recommend including Grand Aribiter Augustine IV in any U/W deck. His static abilities have a huge impact. He might be worth trying out as a General.
5.) Substantial amounts of removal is essential to building a good deck. Otherwise it turns into a "Who can topdeck the splashiest creature" battle. I recommend at least 15 spot removal spells and at least 5 Wrath effects.
6.) A 5C Sliver deck with Sliver Overlord as a General is a ton of fun to play. (Yes, wrath effects will rain on your parade.)
7.) Card advantage is huge. If you cannot find a way to tutor for cards or draw extra cards, you will quickly fall behind.
8.) Our house rules included making Generals untargetable by "Control Magic" effects. We also decided to treat "shuffle target creature into your library" or "put target creature on the bottom of its owner's library" effects as destroy or RFG effects when targeting Generals. These turned out to be very good adjustments for our play group.
9.) Meloku is terrible in EDH.
10.) P/T pumping affects aren't as good as you'd like them to be. For instance, the inclusion of the Leige cycle of creature, Gaea's Anthem, Glorious Anthem, etc. is usually a waste of a card slot considering the size of most of the creatures other players will be playing.
11.) Blood Tyrant is an auto-include. He can get out of hand in a hurry.
12.) Anathemancer is another auto-include.
13.) It was mentioned before, but Akroma's Memorial is amazing. You want it. You need it.
14.) Depending on your curve (which is typically high in EDH), mana acceleration is very important. Sol Ring, Thran Dynamo, Grim Monolith, Basalt Monlith, Signets, etc are must-haves. I recommend utilizing 5-7 (or more).
I'll post more tips as I think of them. Hope these are helpful.
Sigil of Distinction is another equipment that you can tutor with from Trinket Mage, but in the end, it just makes a guy beefy, so I'd only recommend it if you're playing something like Wizards with lots of weenies who could use the boost.
I love sigil of distinction I search it out with my trinket mage, and then play it for either 5 or 9 mana for my general wydwen, to kill in 3 turns or 2 turns. (Usually the 3 turns works out better). I also like library of leng, as I tend to draw a lot of cards.
if you have problems with the text box size use spoiler tags.
i'd take o-stone over disk myself (and it's not much cheaper, really, disk is only a few dollars more). CIPT is HORRIBLE for multiplayer, people will try to kill you before you can set it off (or destroy it). 8 mana is a lot to have untapped to set it off immediately, but this is EDH. you don't need a board wiper on turn 4-5 most of the time anyway, and you can set off o-stone at about the same time as disk.
Anyway...
your generals list is missing quite a few imo. Azami, lady of scrolls is very powerful, as is Teferi, mage of zhalfir and Erayo, soratami ascendant. also, I don't see why Lyzolda is on the list, unless there's some new combo that I wasn't aware of. I haven't heard of any good kaervek decks, either, but I might be wrong.
of course rofellos, llanowar emissary gets lauded as being a great general. personally he doesn't seem that great to me, but then I hate green like osama bin laden hates beard trimmers.
as far as all the rest of the cards, most of those are already in the top-35 list. I guess you could argue that, while a lot of the cards on the top-35 list are GOOD, they aren't necessarily good in every deck (i.e. reveillark might have some great combos, but it's not that great in a deck that isn't built to run it), so you might make a list of the color-specific auto-includes (i.e. I don't think I've seen a blue deck that wouldn't benefit from brainstorm). But most of the cards on your list don't fall into that category anyway, so you'd have to scrap the whole thing and start over, and it would be a short list.
Honestly the top 35 are sort of stupid anyway. I probably only use 5 of them for a given color in most of my decks, and "multicolor" as a single category makes it pretty useless for most 2-color generals.
It's banned.
No.

instead, I think the list is a lot more thorough.
I agree.
Also, the "best commanders" list on the front page is weird. There is no way Kaervek or Lyzolda are either the best or the most popular.

So yeah, scrap the whole thing imo.
