I would remove coat of arms and play 4 vials. The mana curve is still quite high at the moment so you should try to replace some of the higher costing cards.
If the store owner says that I can't trade in the premises, I'll just go outside. If he says that I can't trade within 10m of his premises, I'll go to 11 meters. If he says that he doesn't want to see me trading, I will put a basket over his head and continue trading.
Yes, he's a local legend. He's only known to take his clothes off before he goes into the Ladies' Lockerroom. Nobody knows what he does in there because he's invisible, but it's almost certainly tons of masturbating.
Ok, so I am a big fan of human-soldier tribal, and I seem to get the most consistent results with white weenie, so I constructed a deck that contains an all human, low cost deck with spot removal. What do you guys think? Any tips or suggestions(if so, what should be replaced?)? I dont have a large budget and am trying to keep the majority of my spells 2 mana drop and lower. GO HUMANS!!!
SIDEBOARD
0x I don't have a sideboard... any ideas?
This deck almost always gives me a consistently usable draw(2 land, 2 spells, 2 creatures, 1 random) and it wins on average by turn 5, with Gideon and Elspeth there to clean up if the game goes too long. If there are any cards or suggestions to make this deck even more streamlined, lemme know card names and what they would replace in the deck. Thanks!

Ahh, good idea throwing in another champion, maybe i'll replace the elite inquisitor since its one of a kind in the deck. ya know, keepin up consistency! As for the mentor of the Meek, that's an excellent idea too! THe extra cards will really help me after I run out of a hand...but the Hero of bladehold is too expensive for my mana curve. mentor of the meek is already pushing the cost limit i trying to run. Keeping it as low and as fast as possible.
I would also suggest adding in 1x Entreat the angels, you are pretty much guaranteed to not begin the game with it, but it can still be a bomb when you draw it later in the game even on the tight mana base you are running.
Thalia, Guardian of Thraben is a great sideboard candidate, she can sometimes buy you a full turn - which is really relevant in a deck like this.
Hmm.. those are the ideas I can think of at the moment
Max out Field Marshal. That card is insane! It basically allows you to control combat as long as it's in play.
Don't forget there are a ton of great oldschool options as well. Definitely add in Catapult Squads in place of Accorder Paladin. Another sweet card that controls the combat step.
I would also be playing Raise the Alarm here and increase Champion to a 4-of.
Remember this: Soldiers are less about swarming and beating down like traditional White Weenie. They are about taking over the combat step and slowly overwhelming the opponent with your superior forces.
There is a Legacy deck with some great results. You'll find it under "The Professionals" name, but i call it Elite Squad (the main engine cards). here is the list:
I think Harsh Mercy might be better for the Soldier theme than Retribution of the Meek merely because he could accidentally bring his Soldiers to above 4 Power.
Outpost can slow you down, though I do agree with Land Tax. It depends on whether he wants to play with Tax as some play groups really frown on any sort of Banned and Restricted Cards.
I'm really liking the harsh mercy idea! cheap cost for its effect! Might throw it in my deck if i can get one. Same goes for Thalia, 2 more champions, and maybe riase the alarm. As for the catapult and the legacy deck ideas, I feel that there are not enough 1 drop creatures in the deck, and I like to fill te field quickly and have around 3 creatures out by turn 2. on average, I kill an opponent by turn 4 and finish by turn 5 if I had to use removal. I am trying to accomplish this by increasing the chances of me throwing down a constant, overwhelming amount of 1-drop creatures that by turn 3-4 can be buffed by marshals or honors. If a game goes on too long, chances are that i've drawn either of my planeswalkers for killing blows(elspeth's second +1, and gideons +2). I'm thinking of replacing an O-ring with Odric, master tactician(2013 spoiler) to increase my late game enders from 2 to 3 cards. I'll update the decklist once I get my hands on some more stuff
Opening hand: 2xlands,2x 1drops, 2x spells(one of which is usually a buff spell), and 1x 3+ drop
t1: 1/1 creature
t2: 2x 1/1 creatures, swing for 1 (1 total)
t3: (usually drew a 3rd land by now)play a +1/+1 spell and swing for 6 (7 total)
t4: if i drew a land, i use some removal and swing for 6 more (13 total)
t5: if they havent conceded, I then either use more removal, buffs, or 1-drops. Game ender.
-by turn 4, they are either defenseless, or overrun by sheer numbers of now (usually) strong early creatures and know better than to wait one more turn. And this draw is assuming i dont get a lot of my optimal cards like champions of the parish, field marshals, a 3rd land, elite vanguards, or any other powerful effect-based creatures in my opening hand. Thalia can help this pace go in my favor and harsh mercy is wonderful in that it can work wonders for my speed efficiency! I feel the need...THE NEED FOR SPEED!!!
Here's the Soldier deck I've been running in my casual playgroup. Does well in 1 vs 1, but so so in multiplayer as expected.
Anyway, I was thinking of going towards a more Human Soldier deck (to be more thematic) and taking out Hada Freeblade and Kazandu Blademaster and putting in 4 Champion of the Parish, 2 Catapult Squad and 2 Kor Skyfisher.
Think those are good changes? Or are there better options?
Hello everyone, well, as the title says, i'm looking for help to get any ideas with this deck.
Somethings I'd like to clarify is that it's a low / mid budget deck, because in my country magic is quite an expensive hobby.
The main idea is a common soldier deck, that should play as fast as possible, increasing the possibility to accelerate the game with ballyrush and preeminent (with the chance to play captain of the watch at turn 4)
Ballyrush = accelerates a lot the deck, and is great to have it in the battlefield in order to keep the extra mana for Brave the elements or Cloudshift
Preeminent Captain = accelerates the deck, allows to cast Captain of the watch faster
Captain of the Watch = Easy to play with ballyrush and preeminent , +1/+1 bonus , 3 tokens in play (which would be 2/2 vigilance, if not having something else to pump 'em, and that's not the idea)
Elite vanguard = Found this great to start hitting by the beggining.
Field Marshal = This one's lethal, +1/+1 plus first strike to all other creatures.
Veteran Swordsmith = I put this one because I use to play it in a very cheap way thanks to Ballyrush Banneret.
Kazandu Blademaster = Love it, 2 mana, 2/2 , first strike and vigilance. When pumped with other soldiers, it's a pain to the opponent
Porcelain Legionnaire = Not sure about this one... I like it because of the 2 colorless mana, and the chance to pay 2 life for it.
Oblivion ring = Find this vital in case of having to remove something
Brave the elements = Also vital, it helps a lot to keep my creatures safe until I play something interesting.
Cloudshift = Same as brave the elements, but combos great with Captain of the Watch. Not quite sure about this one.
I'd pull out Cloudshift for it, for the reasons your apprehensive of it.
Yes, I considered it . But some times, i have both captains in my main hands ( or draw them in first turns) and when I play Preeminent, they play some removal on it (such an aggresive creature shouldn't last long) and if I don't have a brave the elements or cloudshift, Captain of the watch would be a big burden (5 mana is not easy to play in my deck) BUT having a creature that by tapping himself and another one deals 2 dmg is good though, the big problem I find is that it has to be an attacking or blocking creature...
I'll add the catapult squad and try 'em on MWS. I liked shelter, but the main problem is that here in Argentina, there aren't many places to get old cards, not bearing in mind the high prize. Excuse my for my poor English, and thanks for your feedback, I'll appreciate any other idea!
I took the Porcelain legionnaires instead of the cloudshifts, think that might work
Soldiers, played as an aggro build, are poor, and outraced by mostly all other aggro decks around. As a tempo deck, its quality shines. A common solid build is:

Well, as you can see, the deck has a mana curve which top is 3 mana (excepting captain of the watch, but if i pay his mana cost to get him into play, something's wrong...)
I can't play old cards as I told you, i would like to try mana tithe, but i think that in order for it to work, i'd have 4 in the deck.
Got it. So let's work from your stand point, only with newer & cheap cards.
As you're using Kazundu Blademaster, Hada Freeblade is an auto-include. Gideon Lawkeeper is another very useful card to keep big threatning dudes away from you or from your creatures when attacking.
Other options maybe not so cheap: Join the Ranks - in place of CCall, to interact with Hada and Kazundu. Elspeth, Knight-Errant - token producer, pumper, and indestruc to critters. Elspeth Tirel - life gain, tokens producer. Ajani Goldmane: vigilance + pump, lifegain when necessary.

I liked the deck u proposed, I love the synergy between allies. Also, I think it's worth to be tried and considered with a few changes in my opinion. The only way to pump my creatures in that way is with Field Marshal. It's rather a fast winning deck , with low cost creatures, as is mine.
But I had an interesting idea, which would be adding 2 elspeth tirel (if that's not enough , then I should stick with the soldier pumping model, because it's quite expensive)
Rhox is the cheap alternative to Field marshall, giving just first strike for 1 mana por, i can't decide whether to put 2 or 3 . I just loved smite , destroy 1 creature for 1 mana , but to included i had to withdraw 1 cloudshift. What do you think? (thanks for your help, it's quite useful, as Im planning to buy this deck, and I'm a bit short of money, i can't spend a lot
Hey gusy, here's my Soldier deck. I'll let you know now, I'm almost completely a Casual player. I don't play specific formats or types. If I can't play with the cards I want to play with, I won't play.
Anyways, here's my Soldier deck.

There are many changes I'd make. Starting with the x4 Captain of the Watch. It's a huge buddy, usually a finisher, but playing it by casting it in a traditional way, is not very useful, as it would take you MINIMUM 6 turns. My personal opinion with soldier tribal decks, it's that you have to run minimum 24+ soldiers creatures (I know u are running spells that let you put tokens). Remove safe passage , put brave the elements, u gain protection, and is a potential finisher. Honor of the pure is a great card, but running x4 is not always the best thing to do, as it is a 2 mana drop card that will pump your creatures, for sure, but it's not a creature, and you'll probably wish it was an Elite Inquisitor , or a Kazandu Blademaster
All in all, your deck aims to have different winning conditions than the one's I prefer. You should also add more lands.
