My local game store has started a weekly paper pauper event with the common list of magic online, and it is a lot of fun.

However, monoblack seems to have taken over the metagame, and I am having trouble finding a deck that can beat monoblack with ease which is functional against other decks - particularly delver based decks, which are also popular. I figured going to the forums would be easier than sitting and brewing a bunch of decks, since surely others have had this problem.

Moved to Paper Pauper

I actually have a few suggestions for you:

Mono-Blue Control is very good against Mono-Black Control. MUC just buries them in card advantage and takes over the game. It also has very fair matches across the board, even against Delver decks.

My second guess would be a very fast Aggro deck. Stompy is typically the bane of any Delver deck, and should have some good game versus Mono-Black, Especially with Vines of Vastwood in the main and other hexproofing stuff in the sideboard.

Speaking of Hexproof, Bogles is also an excellent deck to bring to an MBC meta. It's also got a fighting chance versus Delver.

I definitely agree with Obermeir on the Stompy deck. My friend runs a Green Stomp and I have a hard time dealing with it and I usually run MBC. My list is different from the online list, but my friend's deck consistently beats the players that run the net deck and he usually beats Delver too. It can place in the Top 4 regularly.

I can't speak for MUC though since I don't play it and I haven't faced it either, but Hexproof Auras can be pretty strong against MBC also and it can do well against Delver if you sideboard well enough.

White Weenie, Icatian Javelineers deals with the speed of a Delver of Secrets and Guardian of the Guildpact wrecks Mono-Block minus Unmake.

Very true. The winning lists in the dailies online have been doing really well versus MBC. Running Doomed Traveler, Loyal Cathar, Safehold Elite, Squadron Hawk, Guardian of the Guildpact as well as Maindeck Order of Leitbur makes removal pretty useless against Weenies. The board presence is just overwhelming.

Yes indeed! I have been so busy lately but now that I have moved to Reno I am running the field with my Pauper decks here. A few of the LGS out here have Pauper tournaments but I blew them out with my White Weenie so friggin hard haha.

I am looking forward to being more active once again. Still White Weenie is my go to deck for everything

Oddly enough though my equipment deck in my signature, is friggin smashing a lot harder here then in my old LGS.

How boogles can ever good againt MBC? They just edict you over and over...

Through Khalni Garden, Young Wolf and playing many other hexproof creatures as meat shields, it can essentially blank Edict effects. The Hexproof player who gets their main creature edicted was either not a very good Bogles player or very unlucky.

Though its already been said, white weenies beat black really easily. Generally speaking, if your deck doesnt fall apart against removal, and has some removal of your own (to keep their life gain to a minimum when they play the merchant) then you should be ok.
