Hey guys, long story short I am looking for decks that match up well with each other. I am trying to get probably 4 decks (to start off with) to have around the house for playing with my wife and friends. EDH games have been taking too long, and I'm just looking for something more consistent but not expensive. Which of the decks from here would stack up well against the others?
I'm looking at Burn, Mono Black, Delver, and one of the green aggro lists or goblins. Are these pretty well balanced or is there one that is too good? I'm guessing no but just wanting some feedback since I don't have a lot of experience with the decks in question. Thanks!
I've been playing online the last couple of days and have played Delver and MBC some. Delver seems really good. I'm playing Mono Green Aggro and I feel locked out pretty quickly. I'm thinking to have a deck for each color, something like MBC, Delver, Burn/Goblins, Elves/Stompy, and White Weenie. Maybe a Tron deck eventually. I haven't played any besides the Stompy (and Burn in other formats) but do these decks offer enough play choices to not become boring? I'm just tired of the rat race of Standard and Modern isn't played around here. I'd just like to be able to get my paper Magic fix on occasion with minimal investment. Is that too much to ask?
If you want to keep it simple, I'd say go with Stompy, Goblins, White Weenie, and Black Aggro. all aggro strategies, lots of interactions, simple to pick up and play. Lots of fun guaranteed.
If you feel like introducing some other types of decks, try Delver, Black Control and Affinity. They require maybe a bit more skill in decision-making and knowledge of other decks. Their power level might be a bit higher as well. I would stay away from combo decks like Delver-Fiend or heavy control/ramp strategies like Tron for the time being. They are difficult to pilot and may feel "unfair" to inexperienced players.
Take all of this with a grain of salt, I'm assuming your family/freinds don't play much Magic.
