I think you might be overestimating how good Gush's Island returning ability will be to your discard outlets. That's late game play; I don't think this deck will do so well late game, or just won't let the game get there. And can you really call it a Madness deck when only 4 cards have madness? lol
I have a friend who plays UG Threshold, and I think some of his ideas could be good here too. First of all, Springing Tiger is absolutely monstrous in Pauper, as his stats are really decent. Also, he uses Diligent Farmhand and Muscle Burst to great effect. Lastly, Tolarian Winds could be a massive Threshold/Madness enabler. That would allow you to discard away your islands from gush into two new cards completely.
I'm not convinced Madness is very viable in Pauper on its own. Maybe Peasant could be more appropriate. I think Threshold and madness are complementary enough with Mongrel that you can definitely blend them together.
It's got Wild Mongrel, Rootwalla, and Deep Analysis. That's madness in my book lol
This deck wants to rush down pretty hard, and Gush basically turns your islands into extra damage (while also being nuts fun).
I'm not so sure about Tiger. I mean... he seems so damn slow :\ For 4 mana I could get a Blastoderm. I'd be down to add some thresh elements, though. Not too keen on playing Peasent, though. Don't like that format as much.
It's crazy how close you can get to passed Standard decks with just a few commons, isn't it?
Right now, your deck looks like Delver that splashed Green for Mongrel and Rancor. Aquamoeba is a pretty special card. How playable is it? I'm concerned that your Mongrel will just eat up cards in your hand you'd rather keep, like countermagic. Sure, discarding into Gush is nice, but doing that in the first 5 turns of the game will cost you so much tempo that you'll likely fall behind. You're basically playing tempo, but are hurting your own tempo at the same time.
The Tiger has proved his worth in my eyes; it's just a matter of activating the threshold. Not many creatures in Pauper can stand up to him then. Try him out. You might not like him. He might also be the finisher that tops your curve and doesn't eat your cards. Blastoderm is also a pretty sweet idea. Is the Shroud worth the drawback of only attacking 3 times? A 7/5 trampling Tiger sounds like game to me.
4 Delver of Secrets
4 Wild Mongrel
4 Basking Rootwalla
2 Aquamoeba
Spells: 23
4 Ponder
4 Vapor Snag
4 Explore
3 Mana Leak
3 Gush
3 Daze
2 Deep Analysis
4 Rancor
Land: 19
10 Island
6 Forest
3 Terramorphic Expanse
Any advice would be cool.
