There aren't very many 3-for-1 effects in this game that only involve 1 card. Carom is such a card. Or maybe it's more of a 2-for-0, I'm not sure.
I don't think people realize how often 1 damage can make a difference between killing or saving a creature. We tend to calculate things to the most exact point of damage possible. I used Bandage to great effect many times (even if I despise the flavor text).
So imagine, you block an attacking creature, yours should die, but instead you play Carom, so it survives, your opponents' creature dies, and you redirect a point of damage to an X/1. Oh, then you draw a card. Kind of a special scenario, but Carom can also generate lots of 2-for-1s too. Seems like an all around good card that deserves some light.
I actually really like that card. I may try and run it in my White Weenie and see how it does. It may be even more useful in Soldiers as that is more aggro oriented so some extra draw would be great.
You can also redirect the damage to the opponents' blocked creature as well, which makes it even more likely to kill it and draw a card in the process.
This also seems good both against First Strike creatures AND in support of First Strike creatures. Sometimes that one point of damage can make or break First Strike. Good catch Obermeir!
I think it's intresting, but does it have a home? White weenie generally won't have lots of mana untapped. I've been thinking about a white aggro/control with more instant speed stuff in it, but it always ended up as UWx bounce/etb. Maybe it has a home in such a deck?

I actually think it has a place in WW. It's all about combat here, and you tend to have a lot of free mana once you've run out of creatures to play (the rest of your hand being removal).
It also has uses if you are going to "overkill" a creature, you can carom the extra damage to a place where it is more needed. Example in boros, you lightning bolt a creature with only 2 toughness you can carom the extra point to one of their other creatures.

I bet it looks incredible as a foil, too.
