(Copied this post from the MTGO Pauper forum, wasn't sure if I should have posted there or here.
Hey guys,
I've always loved pauper, I used to play it a few years ago. Now that I'm back in the game, I've scoured this forum and the pauper reddit discussion, and stumbled on some people's ideas of Pauper Battleboxes (Containing various decks that you can pull out and play with a friend, or loan out). I've been trying to come up with a list of decks that I'd like in it, and I'm looking for variety and decks that can each compete with each other (I don't mind janky brews at all). I've come up with the following archetypes/decks so far:
Top Tier (16)
-Mono U Delver
-MBC
-Kuldotha Jeskai
-Murasa Tron
-Temur Tron
-Izzet Drake
-Izzet Blitz
-UB Teachings
-Angler Delver
-Burn
-Goblins
-Elves
-Stompy
-Affinity
-Bogles
I did not add RDW to the list, and also I feel Izzet Control is in between Izzet Drake and Izzet Blitz - so i'm not sure about it.
And to finish off the list are just some fun tribal decks. I doubt I'd put them in, but if in your opinion that some of them are strong I'd consider it.
My question to you is, what decks should I include, and which ones to leave out, if I only make 20-30 decks for the battlebox. Also other recommendations will be much appreciated!
The main thing you should be concerned with is how certain decks will fair against others, namely tiered decks versus "janky" brews.
If a player gets the Centaur deck and gets steam-rolled by a Tron deck, they're not going to have a good time.
Of the tribal decks, I think Zombies, Rebels, Beasts and Slivers are the strongest. I wouldn't touch the rest (though I'm wondering about the playability of vampires).
Most everything else in your categories seem okay, save a few exceptions like Pauper Lantern. You also seem to have a few repeating archetypes that use some different cards but whose overall strategies are very similar (like the two Tron decks, for instance). I would pick only one of those similar strategies for the set.
I'm assuming you probably saw my Paper Pauper Battle Bag, but in case you didn't follow the link to my 16-deck collection (complete with sideboards), take a look and see if anything interests you.
