This card has been out for a while and I've yet to see it played. I'm strongly considering using it in my BR Sacrifice deck, as it could make for some great surprise kills. Black has lots of creatures that can get huge quickly, so it's definitely in a colour that could abuse the infect. I could also see it in something like Dead Dog, where Vampire Hounds just go to town.
Seems bad, honestly. Unless you are up for dealing 10 damage at once it actually actively slows down your deck, as it doesn't count towards normal damage. And if you can consistently get 10 damage you probably don't need it.
Infect as a side strategy works when Inkmoth Nexus is involved because it has no downsides, is flying, and can be activated multiple times. This takes up a card, doesn't give any evasion, and is a one shot item.

What about in strategies where you can burst out 10 damage in one turn? An Aristocrats deck can do this very easily a lot of the time. Imagine a lot of tiny creatures being sacrificed to a Nantuko Husk, turn it into a 10+ power creature, and it goes unblocked. for a measly 1 mana, you can end the game at instant speed instead of having to deal the other 10. This seems like a powerful effect!
The only times I've ran this card was back when it was in Standard. I used it in a U/B Livewire Lash Infect deck and only because it was a cheap pump spell that triggered Lash, not for the infect (especially because all my creatures already had infect).
Other than that I've only seen it used in Prossh, Skyraider of Kher EDH decks for surprise wins. Now, you also want it for the same reason, to get a surprise win. It may be good, but I feel it will make your deck into more of a combo deck than anything. Using it with Vampire Hounds would require a hand with four creature cards to discard plus Tainted Strike to pull off a win, and that's assuming your opponent didn't have anything to respond with. It might work better with creatures like Carrion Crawler since the P/T boost is permanent to help with resource management.
How about as a singleton, or a 2-of, at most? It could be just a bad pump spell to help kill or maim a creature, or it could be potentially deadly. Kind of an "oops, I win" scenario.
True! My main attraction was that it was a 1 mana instant, though. That instant speed really changes a lot in terms of playability. But I guess running Temur Battle Rage makes a lot more sense if you're already in Red.

I could see it as an alternate Eye Candy win condition. Makes it a lot easier to kill someone with a cyclops or kiln fiend, and you are more likely to draw into one if you are spamming cantrips. I think it would need to be three colors though.

I bet there are enough cantrips (including Gitaxian Probe) in black and red to do it. Crimson Wisps is pretty dope here. I just wonder if Tainted Strike is necessary at that point. Also, perhaps Fists of the Demigod/Psychotic Fury could outmatch Temur Battle Rage?
