Ive put together a pair of decks based on things that have been printed in the last two sets. Just wanted to put them up here and see if anybody had any suggestions. Also wanted to provide them for anybody who was looking for some ideas. I appreciate the views.
The first deck is using energy to try and abuse Lightning Runner. I saw this card and thought it looked run and decided to build around it. The idea is pretty straightforward, make Lightning Runner big and then attack and attack again. I know it could use something, so i'm looking for ideas.
The second deck is based around vehicles, prior to the printing of Peacewalker Colossus I didn't really like the crewing idea, but this allows you to sweep the board frequently and still attack. Thats's the basic idea, get a bunch of strong vehicles wipe the board of creatures and crew them up for victory. Suggestions are appreciated.
It really wants 4x Mishra's Factory in the manabase. After all, it's a "free" 2/2 or even 3/3 for your vehicles and it survives all of your mass removal.
Berserkers' Onslaught should only be ran as a 1-of (tops) since it's very win-more and literally worthless in multiples. 1x Onslaught and 1x Violence is more than enough.
I would love to see a version of this deck with nothing but AOE-based removal and Swans of Bryn Argoll to act as an insane draw engine and enabler for your vehicles. You could even try a version w/o creatures that has Repercussion. Still, I hate playing decks w/o card draw and since Swans is the single strongest option in Boros your options are somewhat limited. I suppose that Depala could be decent but even then she still seems a lot worse than Swans.

That all sounds good and makes sense, I appreciate the help. Do you have any suggestions for the Lightning Runner deck? It just seems like I am missing something that could improve that card/deck.
Do you have any suggestions for the Lightning Runner deck? It just seems like I am missing something that could improve that card/deck.
The deck, as it sits, is like 40 cards that don't do anything and 4x LR. When you fail to draw one and/or if they die (throngs of commonly played removal spells bypass your protection) you basically just sit around until you lose. That's the main thing that needs to be addressed because as sits I imagine that it would be miserable to play since ~50% of the time you just won't see a Runner for like 8+ turns and will have literally nothing to do.
I mean Living Wish is one of the most oppressive casual cards in the game and if you're allowed to run it then every Green deck should blindly run 4 no questions asked. It literally represents every creature in your entire collection and enables you to bypass the 4 card limit and field up-to 8 copies of a desired card (yes, those are the official rules).
I am still working on this...I can't decide if I should add a color or change one. I am testing this list currently. Considering switching over to R/U or R/W, or RUG. Thinking about the possibility of some sort of prison style deck with R/W. Always up for suggestions. Eventually, I will get this to work.
The decks that you're posting are never going to have the 8 Energy required to "go off" with the Runner immediately. Like you should 100% have 4x Attune with Aether in any build of any colors because it's just better than a land when you care about energy. Personally I would play something like:
Wow, thanks for the quick feedback. Much appreciated...This is basically a standard list with a couple lands and a few spells, which scares me. I am getting the feeling that it just won't be strong enough to win games...After all, without adding counters to Lightning Runner he's basically doing 4 damage a turn. I do agree that Attune with Aether should be included, seems great.

I mean you're playing with Energy cards which are all Standard legal and so you're probably going to end up with something that looks like a Standard deck. You don't have to build it like I did or anything but you definitely need to play more spells that actually matter. The whole point of a card like Lightning Runner is that you want to jam him with 6-12 energy already in play so that you can immediately take 1-2 extra combat phases. Otherwise you're just jamming a 2/2 for 5 and hoping that that somehow defeats an entire table of players. You need a board, you need creatures that scale, you need energy already in play, etc. Wall of Blossoms isn't what you want in your 8x Aggravated Assault deck. No, you want a ton of big dudes/fliers that want to turn sideways multiple times in a given turn. That's why I don't understand why you have cards like Consulate Turret in your build. It's stupidly slow, the activated ability sucks and it doesn't turn sideways. Fabrication Module same thing. Why are you playing a ton of extra combat phase cards but zero creatures to turn sideways?
After consideration I have decided that I just like Lightning Runner but currently there isn't a great way to use him in a solid multiplayer deck. I think I will proceed with the additional attack phases through Hellkite Charger and Savage Ventmaw. I have posted my deck below and still have 9 spots to fill. I'm not sure if I should put something as a two drop that can attack. Wondering opinions of Greenwheel Liberator if I add more fetches to the list. I could always add Avatar of the Resolute or something similar. I appreciate the time, thanks.
Eh it seems like you're needlessly forcing two decks together. IMO build a RG Tokens list and a combo dragon deck because what you posted is the worst of both worlds.
Savage Ventmaw + Hellkite Charger isn't really much of a combo since it doesn't even win the turn that you cast it. Conversely if you have an Aggravated Assault in play a jam a hasted Ventmaw then you literally win outright. Adding Haste enablers such as Flamekin Village, Hanweir Battlements, Generator Servant, etc. is also fairly "free" and for defense you can just use Steely Resolve, Defense Grid, Dense Foliage, City of Solitude, Dosan the Falling Leaf, etc. because I don't see how you're ever hitting the million mana required to protect your dragons with Heroic Intervention in a 22 land deck. Like, let's just look at the math. In order to protect Charger with Intervention you need 9 mana of your 22 land deck. On turn 15 you will have a 40.255% probability of having drawn that many. That's how unlikely that card is to protect you.
Defense Grid and Dosan to try and allow me to do what I need to do to combo off. It seems like the 3 cmc spot is full of great creatures. I picked Rabblemaster just because it continues to provide attacking 1/1's, but am open to change it out. Do I need more ramp like Cultivate or Explosive Vegetation? Should I add more threats at the 2 cmc spot or ramp creatures like Sylvan Caryatid, was also thinking that Den Protector could work. Again, I appreciate the help.

Renegade Map seems absolutely heinous, like strictly worse than basic lands. I would just run 24-25 lands and call it a day. If possible try and sneak Sunhome, Fortress of the Legion and/or Slayers' Stronghold in there as singletons.
Berserkers' Onslaught should only be ran as a 1-of (tops) since it's very win-more and literally worthless in multiples. 1x Onslaught and 1x Violence is more than enough.
Hallowed Burial is a huge nonbo with Hangarback Walker.

How worried are you about removal? Do you need a couple copies of Argivian Find/Open the Vaults/Roar of Reclamation or something maybe?

But yeah, K.I.S.S. Keep it simple silly. If you want to put 4x Hardened Scales and 4x Taurean Mauler in a deck them jam them alongside Chronomatons, Mold Adders, Hangarback Walkers, Avatar of the Resolutes, Managorger Hydras, Forgotten Ancients, Armorcraft Judges, etc. Don't go off the rails with all-in combos and a million 6 drops in your 22 land deck.
