Has anyone had experience playing a deck with only gold cards in it along with mana rocks/lands for fixing all colors? I think it would be kind of a cool idea. A lot of gold cards are sweet too, so the amount to choose from is numerous. I don't know if it would be cool to focus on a more creature oriented route with maybe a singleton card like Dragon Arch and Progenitus or to play a bunch of spells with the new cards like Paradox Engine and Dark Intimations. I'm not a fan of I-WIN cards so things like Coalition Victory and infinite combos are out. A Dragon theme might be cool. I have some of the good dragons already - Dragon Broodmother, Broodmate Dragon, Bladewing the Risen.
So far I kind of have the mana base established, but nothing else...
Good call on the Pillar of the Paruns. That should be an auto include. A Captain Sisay deck may seem like the sweet way to go. I know there are a lot of good legendary creatures out there. Suggestions? A toolbox style or just pure beatdown?
Still debating if I should keep the rocks or take them out?
I don't even know why you are trying to make a gold card deck without my favorite, Maelstrom Wanderer. And thanks to two reprints in 2016, it's at an all-time low.
Apart from dozens of cool legendary creatures remember to run some legendary lands to color fix and maybe artifacts too.
Ayli, old Teysa, if you already have one a Sliver Queen, just flip through your collection and pick any you like. Remember to have a curve though, not twenty legends of cost five and up.
I haven't play tested it yet, but the ramp package should be strong and able to generate big creatures without any problems. I'm hoping the amount of draw is enough with Prime Speaker Zegana, Damia, Sage of Stone, and Coiling Oracle. Harmonic Sliver and Dauntless Escort are there for early utility. Legacy Weapon is good to start exiling everyone's threats once the deck gets going. Dark Intimations is a sweet new card that can help recover a utility creature later on from the graveyard. Is there anything cool that I absolutely need to include in here? Thanks!
Blinking would be cool, but I don't feel as if I have enough suitable ETB creatures to make it worthwhile. Did some editing to the deck. Feels more powerful now, but the deck doesn't seem to get going until turn 4 in playtesting.
I like Pillar of the Paruns only if I didn't have to rely on mana rocks. My first creature curve is at 4 CMC, but in testing it seems I can get my 4 drops out early on turn 3 and my 6+ drops out at turn 4 so it doesn't seem so bad. Maybe adding a few Firespout or Savage Twister can get people off my back through the early turns.
I play a lot of 2HG games, but also would like for it to compete on it's own if need be. This one's more of an aggro approach the draws some dudes, plays more dudes, and hopefully wins the game with all the Knight of New Alaras. I know I truly would like this to be an all gold deck, but the ramp would be so much easier just by using stuff like Birds of Paradise and Sakura-Tribe Elder. With an aggro deck would it be more beneficial to just exempt the ramp for more colored lands like Pillar of the Paruns and Ancient Ziggurat and just add more creatures?
That list would benefit immensely from Deathrite Shaman + Fetchlands since it wants as many creatures as possible.
Ancient Tomb seems quite terrible in that list. It can't be used to profitably cast half of your spells.
Get back to me if you want to build a Captain Sisay deck. Paradox Engine broke her in half. She just went from "meh" to "mOHMYGOD." Yes, you can probably imagine just how broken it is having Fellwar Stone + Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary + Coalition Relic in play in a deck with a creature that has "tap, Demonic Tutor" and an artifact that reads "your spells produce mana and untap all of your permanents" . It's uhhh... it's not fun for anyone else .
The original idea was in fact to do a Captain Sisay deck. There are a ton of legendary dudes so it's hard to figure out which ones will give the most value while limiting the deck to 60 cards without maybe the likes of Glittering Wish. Paradox Engine breaking this thing indeed looks pretty legit.
What would a deck list look like for it? Do you think it's possible to run 5 colors in this type of deck or should it be kept to G/W for instance? I would think with Fellwar Stone/Coalition Relic/Chromatic Lantern and a bunch of fixing lands it would be no issue to run the 5 colors.

What I generally do is tutor up Paradox Engine, cast it, then assuming that Sisay survives and you manage to untap/cast a cheap spell you can tutor up Mox Opal, Hope of Ghirapur and Reki, the History of Kamigawa before going off from there. The idea here is that as long as you have some rocks in play all of these cheap spells will produce mana (you only need 2 mana to break-even typically) and once you have Reki all of your Demonic Tutors now cantrip as which point you can almost always accrue enough value to win the game. The deck could easily be as many colors as you desire but I mean there's basically no reason to add Red and even Black is kinda iffy. Blue can bring some cool tools to the table though. Otherwise the deck really wants to have cheap Legendaries such as Rhys the Redeemed and Thalia, Guardian of Thraben but it also wants disruption such as Thalia, Heretic Cathar, Dosan the Falling Leaf, Hokori, Dust Drinker and Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite.
Sounds like it would be pretty painful to play against a deck like that. Sadly, I don't think it would transition very well to 5 colors :(, especially when a lot of the good legends are quite expensive to cast.
Does anybody have a budget friendly version of the Captain Sissay deck?? I have one Paradox Engine to use but a lot of the creatures that have been suggested are in excess of $15. If it just doesn't work out, then that's fine too.

You mentioned using Emrakul and going a beat down route...what changes would be made to do that?
Well none really. The deck plays out the exact same way except you end your chain by hardcasting Emrakul so that you can untap and beat everyone down. It's basically strictly worse than the Aetherflux Reservoir line (which is why I don't use it) but you don't have to track Storm count and other nonsense so it's easier to manage. All you do is swap Reservoir for Emrakul and Inventors' Fair for Rhys the Redeemed or Elvish Archdruid or whatever.

Rocks
4 Fellwar Stone
4 Coalition Relic
2 Chromatic Lantern
Lands
4 Reflecting Pool
4 Exotic Orchard
4 Evolving Wilds
1 Swamp
1 Island
1 Forest
1 Mountain
1 Plains
8 of Which Lands??
Any help would be great!
Edit: Just thought about maybe a blink deck? It would be hard to do without cards like Deadeye Navigator, but there is Venser, the Sojourner , Mistmeadow Witch, Brago, King Eternal, Roon of the Hidden Realm, Momentary Blink.
You can easily drop some of your rocks.
You might need more of a theme though.
Dragons are fun. Legends too. (Captain Sisay!)
I love these knights in such a deck: Paragon of the Amesha and Dragonsoul Knight.
Other options:
And of course Slivers and/or Planeswalkers.
My meta: 3 or 4 player free for all, anything goes but boring games or broken decks cause a vote to end that game.
edit: I also really like cards like Bant Sureblade and that whole cycle. Cloven Casting can be really fun especially when reducing costs with Urza's Filter
Still debating if I should keep the rocks or take them out?
Maybe so far:
3 Captain Sisay
1 Progenitus

2 Eladamri's call

Some card draw is in order, think Mercurial Chemister.

It basically doesn't work if you can't chain Sisay into some cheap spells like Hope of Ghirapur, Mox Opal and Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary so that you can go "infinite" with Reki, the History of Kamigawa and put your deck into play. The crux of the combo is that between Mox Opal and Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary your spells should more-or-less be free (or even produce mana) at which point every Sisay activation leads to card draw and more Sisay activations.

Since the line isn't obvious the optimal win is to tutor up Azusa, Lost but Seeking then tutor up Inventors' Fair (yes, it's Legendary) then use that to tutor up Aetherflux Reservoir. You can also ignore that junk and use Emrakul, the Aeons Torn to play around mass removal and go for the beatdown win.
If you want to play with more than 3 artifacts things like Grim Monolith, Fellwar Stone, Selesnya Signet, Defense Grid, Winter Orb, Tangle Wire and Basalt Monolith are amazing.
