Just wanted to share a quirky, budget deck idea I had for feedback. I wanted to throw together something cheap that built around some of the bigger vehicles from the new set.
I shied away from the cruiser because of a combination of its low-toughness/lack of evasion and its price. If it were a $0.50 card I'd take another look at it, but for a deck idea that's on the silly, not-very-good side I'm looking to spend as little as possible.
Your point about Demolition Stomper is well-taken. Qal Sisma Behemoth is the only creature that can solo-crew it on the turn that it's dropped and that one is my least-favorite as an early blocker. Lupine Prototype could work too, but it's even worse in that regard.
I might keep this idea on the shelf until Aether Revolt comes out. We'll see if they give us a few more giant vehicles with crew requirements in the 3-5 range to make it more worthwhile.
The whole idea I wanted to pursue was to pair up undercosted, high-power creatures with an attacking-related drawback with vehicles that had a high crew-cost requirement. That way, the two types of cards would negate each other's drawbacks and a collection of cheap, mediocre-to-bad cards would together make a sort-of-viable multiplayer deck. I just like challenge of finding a way to give lousy cards a moment in the sun.
Renegade Freighter doesn't have quite the payoff of the bigger vehicles. The crew cost is only 2 so pretty much all of my pilots would be "overpaying" and tapping two creatures to attack with 5 power just doesn't have the oomph I'm looking for to at least be viable. I don't expect this deck to be a big winner, but I definitely think I could steal some blowout wins by casting Chandra's Ignition on a Demolition Stomper.
I'm not crazy about Veteran Motorist for similar reasons. If I were building a "smaller" deck with vehicles like Renegade Freighter then I'd like him more. But he's not big enough to crew the majority of my vehicles. He'd also require me to pickup a second color.
I did think a little about a second color for access to some more pilots--mainly black for Urza Block favorites I'd never play anywhere else, Flesh Reaver and Phyrexian Negator. Black would also give me a few better options for card draw.

Some ideas I've considered that would increase the budget:
