Damned was I surprised today when I learned that amoung the few cards spoiled so far, Sneak Attack was amoung them! Very sneaky indeed, which has given me pause to consider the set. Initially I had brushed it off as a gimmick, but after seeing cards like Necropotence & Chrome Mox make the list, I'm actually getting excited for a Magic product for the first time since the Premium Deck Series.
Of course each of those cards is at the Mythic Rarity so I don't expect too much, but maybe, (just maybe!) I can grab a Sneak Attack for 25-30 dollars a piece instead of 50+. I'd also love to see the Wish set get a reprint so I could nab some Burning Wish for my collection, though I would dislike seeing a reprint of the original (in my opinion, terrible) artwork. Since ol' Sneaky is using the JFP art, I'd love for the Burn to use the updated art as well.
What is the communities thoughts on Eternal Masters for play? Anything exciting you so far, or something you hope to see?
Update: Gamble was literally just spoiled after I posted this!
I'd consider a spoiler tag on your post name and redact Sneak Attack while you are at it. It's okay if they click and are spoiled; that's their problem. But you shouldn't send out spoilers in your title outside of the Rumor Mill - it's bad form!
Anyone else go from 6 to midnight after seeing some of the latest spoilers? I know I went full on half-English/half-whale when I saw most of them. Daddy like. Though they're probably spoiling the best first in order to up the hype before spoiling the commons and uncommons.

Aye mate, I was so excited I gushed about it too anyone who would listen. Most of my friends know about Magic, but don't necessarily play, so I've been in anguish wanting to discuss how excited I am! So I posted here on MTGS, figured I'd get more like-minded blokes to discuss with.
Sylvan Library, Mana Crypt, hell even Jace is getting a reprint - though he'd be terrible in multiplayer. I hope this means we might see a reprint of Lili; she's amazing in multiplayer.
Ironic that this comes barely 48 hours after I got absolutely trounced by Sneak Attack in a 7-player Grand Melee drafted out of my cube (that's attack left, defend right, global spell range of one each side). I'm fortunate enough to have an OG Sneak from my Urza's Saga days, even if it's just a singleton.
So the player to my right drafted hard at red and pulled all the fatty dragons. T4 Sneak, T5 Sneak out Utvara Hellkite, Thundermaw Hellkite, Flameblast Dragon and Stormbreath Dragon. That, my friend, was wreckage right there.
Looking at the other stuff, the other spoiler that excites me so far is Bloodbraid Elf. I somehow managed to skip all the Cascade shenanigans the first time around, and I've a hankering to build a degenerate Hypergenesis deck (simply because it's a glorious raffle, and it makes for a quick game). All they need to do now is reprint Shardless Agent and I'm good.
Oh, and word to the wise for the young 'uns who've never suited it up before... don't sleep on Necropotence. It may end up one of the cheapest mythics in the set, but it is broken. In half. If they print Dark Ritual in EMA, even at Uncommon, Necro is a Limited first pick.
Alright, I gotta use this opportunity to vent. Can someone please explain this to me?
How in the bloody hell is Worldgorger Dragon, a rare at every other set, a card that costs less than $3 of the secondary market, is a mythic rare in a set where other mythic rares include Jace, the Mind Sculptor, Vampiric Tutor, and Mana Crypt???? This level of trolling is beyond me. If I spent $10 on a booster from a very limited release and the rare slot contained a mythic like this one, I'd burn it and send the ashes to WotC. My sympathies to anyone who cracks a foil Worldgorger Dragon in Eternal Masters. Here's what I saw when I gazed upon the spoilers this morning:

While I agree with you, I am not surprised by this. WotC has shown in the past that they will Troll with anything in order to keep prices high and collectors happy. Don't misunderstand me: I am super excited for Eternal Masters, but only because the price of singles should drop, even just a little.
I will not buy EM packs or EM boosters - there simply isn't enough incentive as a Casual player to pay money for a product that may or may not get me what I need, when I can just buy a single from a retailer.
Love that Cardtroller Dragon, should be in Unhinged 2: The ReHinging.

Yeah, lol, I just had to get that out there so I put my frustrations and inspiration to good use.
I'm one that - for the right price - would buy a box or two. I am a casual player so I play a lot of kitchen table and EDH. However, being a casual player I tend to avoid paying $20+ for a single card. That being said, gambling (I say gambling now because Worldgorger Dragon is at mythic rarity) on a box of Eternal Masters means I have access to some more expensive cards for my casual needs plus being able to sell competitive cards I won't really use in order to continue the cycle of selling/buying/trading cards for my casual MtG games. I love Sneak Attack. Would it be broken in an EDH deck? You bet! Will I shell out all that moolah for one? No way.
Because not every Mythic can be a staple card, that's why. There always have to be a couple of Mythic clunkers. Remember Comet Storm?
Comet Storm can win a game. It shouldn't've been mythic but it can win a game. It's been reprinted to death so I would get angry if I cracked a Comet Storm in an Eternal Masters pack instead of a busted mythic. But, Worldgorger Dragon should not have been mythic when you have these other mythics in this set - plain and simple; it should've stayed rare if it was gonna get reprinted in the set. Compare its secondary market price to the price of every other rare and mythic revealed so far. You're telling me that Worldgorger Dragon should be rarer than Wasteland and Sylvan Library? Rarer than Gamble? As rare as Jace, the Mind Sculptor, Mana Crypt, and Karakas? I cannot accept that under any sort of justification. At all.
In order to appease traders and the secondary market, Wizards is bumping up rarities in this set like no tomorrow. I'm surprised we even have commons at all. At this point I'm half-expecting guildgates and tokens to take up the common slots in booster packs.

You both seem to be forgetting that these are draft formats. Printing a card like Comet Storm at anything other than Mythic makes for bad times.
Also, why does "Mythic" have to mean "expensive"? That's never been WoTC's philosophy. Mythics tend to be big, cool, powerful effects. Not always but usually. WGD is one of the most unique + bizarre cards in all of Magic and it's been a competitive staple in Vintage for over a decade. If that's not Mythic then I don't know what is.
Animate Dead, Entomb and Worldgorger Dragon are all available in the same set. I'm assuming they didn't want that combo to be a common occurrence in limited.

Trust me, I get that, I really do. But having a $10 booster pack means that price is a thing, otherwise you wouldn't be seeing so many cards in the $100 proximity range. Worldgorger Dragon is a great card and it's great to combo, but how easy will it be to assemble such a combo in a draft? With all of its pieces already at rare rarity I highly doubt that some drafter will be lucky enough to assemble the combo after drafting. Even then, you'd still have to have a viable deck around the combo. The importance of drafting is the commons and uncommons. To many, the rares are just treasures - which is the literal case in Eternal Masters. Look at what happened with Modern Masters 2 compared to Modern Masters 1.

This is being reprinted in Planechase Anthologies.
Chain Lightning was spoiled today, my inner Red Mage is delighted by the preview of cards making the set. Chain Lightning is a favorite of mine, and a decent card in multiplayer against other Reds; watching it bounce around the board a few times is delightful.
A reprint of Wrath of God though, is fantastic news. Bloody card is hard to find, no matter how many times its been printed. Hurrah!
Yeah, the whole set has been spoiled and I'm pretty excited for at least half of the stuff they've gone with.
Won't lie: Dack Fayden over Liliana of the Veil was stupid of Wizards. Just stupid. Her price shot up after the set was revealed. So ol' Poster Boy gets a reprint, but not our fabulous goth? Bah! Not like the reprint mattered, most retailers I've checked into are still going to be selling JtMC near a hundred dollars. For a chunk of cardboard.
Still, on the positive side I see a lot of cards that should help out the Casual scene. I'll inspect the whole set a little later. For now I must away to work!
Disagree. You can get a Wordly for like 5 bucks if you try hard enough. The card is fringe playable at best in EDH whereas GSZ is a total bomb across all non-Vintage formats. GSZ is also a vastly superior card for casual decks of all flavours.

So I'm guessing no Portal 3 reprints? No Imperial Seal or Three Visits or Riding the Dilu Horse or Capture of Jingzhou? We probably won't see any Grim Tutor or Temporal Manipulation or Cruel Tutor or Sylvan Tutor either. Hell, with Force of Will becoming mythic you might as well have given that mythic spot to Sinkhole and gone the whole way of making a common into a mythic.

Mystical Tutor & Vampiric Tutor are fun for combo decks, I can see a few of my mates going for those cards.
Gaea's Blessing is a fun card, each mode is relevant and it can be used as a great political tool.
Vindicate. Deathrite Shaman. 'nuff said.

For half a second I thought I'd missed it and Wizards actually reprinted it. Good show sir, good show!
