To each their own but I don't think you realize how powerful the card is the context of a self-mill strategy. I would always plays Magus over Dark Confidant in this style of combo deck and Dark Confidant is quite the card. The reality is that "draw 2 discard 3" is generally going to win games than "draw 1" because it digs twice as deep for your key draw/recursion spells and/or Boseiju, Who Shelters All while filling your GY with random crap. Moreover, 2 drops can frequently hit as early as turn 1 in multiplayer given your ability to blindly jam 4x Gemstone Caverns in every deck and I'm fine if my 1-2 drop doesn't have an immediate + significant impact on the game. Not many do. Deathrite Shaman doesn't have an immediate impact either but does that make it weak? Not IMO.
I haven't read it all but why not add Dictate of Erebos ?

Living Death is a Wrath of God + Twilight's Call that recurs all of my forces to trigger my various drainers. Moreover, 5 CMC also houses Gray Merchant of Asphodel who works with my drain plan to actively win the game as opposed to simply stalling it out. It combines absurdly well with mass recursion as well since recurring multiple Garys/Zulaports is almost always GG. Otherwise Dictate can be destroyed without providing much value and, again, I have to stress that it doesn't actually do anything to actively win the game. Yes, it combos well with Viscera Seer and random dorks but ultimately my goal is to win the game by draining my opponents down to 0. Solid card but not one that appeals to me in such a combo-centric deck.

People who've never played with Skullclamp always over-think its applications. I'm not trying to single you out or insult you or anything, I'm just saying that once you play with Skullclamp in a deck full of X/1s, sac outlets (Viscera Seer) and mass revival (Living Death) you'll quickly realize that literally no finesse is needed. If it has 1 toughness or if you have a Seer in play then Clamp to your heart's content. Obviously you want to keep your Cutthroats around for as long as possible to maximize your triggers but I won't hesitate to bin anything if I need more resources. Skullclamp is the kind of card that bashes you over the head with raw power and there's basically no way to mess it up. Clearly you can go over-board by pitching your entire board and dying to attacks from your adversaries but as long as you're playing with a head on your shoulders you should be able to prevent that from happening. If I thought that people needed to know any relevant tips or tricks I would share them but Clamp is a sledgehammer as opposed to a screwdriver. Anyone who plays it with even once quickly realizes "ooooooooooh, that's why this card is banned in every format" because of how mindless oppressive the effect is.
W.r.t. the deck's evolution I don't put too much effort into any one deck (especially all-in combo shells). For me it's about finding groups of cards that work well together as opposed to trying to perfect a specific deck for random Cockatrice games. Most of my competitive friends prefer cEDH since we have LGSes that host EDH events every Wednesday and since we're Canadian we don't have much incentive to invest heavily in Legacy/Vintage staples since we'd get to play the decks maybe once a year. Otherwise it's hard to find to find good competition on Cockatrice so you rarely get 4 people who have a "real" deck as it were. There's also problems with using online clients to begin with that really hurt testing. I still prefer Cockatrice to MTGO since multiplayer on MTGO has a ton of inherent problems as well (tapping all of your lands so that you can f8, chess clocks, etc.) but it's not the same game as live Magic. Simple things like "cards don't have pictures" matter way more than you think (if anyone out there doesn't think that art has a significant impact on a game you are dead wrong my friend) so it's sometimes hard to take your results at face value.
Besides, despite what some people probably think I'm not "that guy" who plays disproportionately powerful decks that ruin games for everyone. I love figuring out what the best combos and synergies and whatnot are but that doesn't mean that I only play linear combo-kill decks. I have way more fun playing ZC as a generic 2 drop in generic creature-based decks. If you want to Wrath of God my Prossh, Skyraider of Kher I'm going to make you pay for it. I mostly play midrange goodstuffs control with mass removal, mass card draw, robust value generators and powerful threats. I don't mind sleeving up Magus of the Bazaar and Living Death to combo-kill people out but I have way more fun curving Deathrite Shaman into Rhystic Study and playing a fun, "fair" game.

My biggest problem is there's always waaaay too many cards that I want to play in a given deck, & I keep wasting a lot of money buying singles that fit the theme, but ultimately wind up filling my boxes of cards I'm not using. I've been trying to make the right 60 card deck for Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet, so I was thinking Zulaport Cutthroat, Fleshbag Marauder, & Living Death, basically a zombie sac engine until I saw what you had. I'm not confident that just the four Living Deaths will be enough because my meta contains a couple of annoying blue players who dawdle around with a hand full of counterspells that won't get played on anyone else unless they're literally doing something that will win them the game that turn. I liked the ally theme because that gave me the option of 4 Patriarch's Bidding, but other than swapping Magus of the Bazaar for Kalitas, everything else you have is so awesome that I might just wind up spending a lot of money on Bidding to slow the deck down because I'd be eating too far into my graveyard filling. I'm thinking now that I might keep blue, but lose the ally theme & use Breaking/Entering (since Glimpse the Unthinkable is too expensive) & Mindslicer to fill my graveyard & Archaeomancer or Mnemonic Wall to return the accidentally binned or countered Living Death.

I know that it's not budget-friendly but the best answer to Blue is Boseiju, Who Shelters All. When your deck has Clamp and/or other forms of mass card draw it's easy to find one at some point and the effect is obviously brutal to play against. That isn't to say that it's the only way to tackle Control decks but it's certainly the most reliable. Otherwise just wait until you can sick Skullclamp on them because they'll probably struggle to beat that card period. Mulligan aggressively (you get a free one in MP after all) so if your first 7 doesn't have a Clamp just ship it back no questions asked. I'm obviously a fan of things like Defense Grid, Contamination and Infernal Darkness but Boseiju is the king of countering counters.
I love Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet and my favorite combo with him is Massacre. He also pairs very well with things like Pox, Death Cloud and Cataclysm since that's basically GG on the spot. That being said any form of mass removal should work well with him including basic options like Mutilate and Crux of Fate. Cards is nuts.
I don't recommend the self-mill route since it hurts so many of your key synergies. I like the idea of adding Archaeomancer for your key recursion spells (also great with Trade Secrets) but I think that adding Breaking // Entering to the list is a losing proposition. Self-mill doesn't win games if you're not also digging into key revival spells.
I'm debating whether I want to go more into Fleshbag & Merciless Executioner direction to up my creature count or the Massacre & Crux of Fate route to hope to get a lot of zombies quickly. Fleshbag seems better for the Living Death concept, for not killing Zulaport so I can maybe sac the zombies right away & win, & if Kalitas isn't out or gets shot before I can do anything since there's not a lot of 1 drop type creatures in our meta, but too slow if he is out. I'll probably try to test w/ some mix & see how it's going.
I was thinking Mindslicer as a replacement for Halimar Excavator that also clears out the opponents answers. Keeping Frantic Search would be better than Breaking // Entering since I can probably cast one of the cards I draw right away.
We play mill & discard, but I'm just playing casual for fun, & was immediately instructed to take Painful Quandary out of a deck, so I try not to play anything that doesn't allow people to play the game or makes them whine too much now.
So, my playgroup has sort of a running joke that revolves around building decks that abuse Zubera in some form or another. I decided maybe a Cutthroat shell could be built to do it.
Please keep in mind that I am not proposing that this deck is the "best" way to build either a Zubera deck or a Cutthroat deck, but there are some decent synergies between them. Zubera like to die. Cutthroats like it when creatures die. Everybody wins, right?
I'd also like to have some instant-speed sac outlet(s). Viscera Seer is a good option, but it's a removal target. Ashnod's Altar has been done to death in our group (and with good reason) so I'd rather do something else just for the sake of being different. Also, since the Cutthroats are the real engine here, I don't need Altars to fuel some sort of finisher (Exsanguinate et al). Also, Altars are nearly as vulnerable to removal as Seers.
This list lacks GY pitch. I'm aware of that. Zubera can be their own draw engine at least (especially with an outlet) but it's not always a guarantee. Also, Silent-Chant Zubera is kind of on the bubble here. Normally that life gain is necessary since a typical Zubera deck can take time to go off, but since I can drain off the Cutthroat/Healer, maybe it could be cut for Dripping-Tongue Zubera. The extra spirits mean more scry off the Seers if I go that route (or whatever sac outlet).
I'm also considering a singleton Conspiracy. It could situationally be used to make everything an Ally or everything a Zubera, either of which could be valuable.

Has anyone made any revisions to deck archetype with the introduction of newer sets? I was thinking about throwing in Throne of the God-Pharaoh. The deck cares about saccing and recurring creatures anyway, so why not put all those chump dudes to good use? Mine has been Orzhov colors and runs the Living Death and Immortal Servitude package some I'm trying to run as many 2 CMC derps as possible.
Is dropping down to 16 lands too greedy? What about Smuggler's Copter in here also? Another form of block/card draw and forces creatures to tap. Obviously it doesn't work with the recursion spells, but it's cheap power. A singleton Field Surgeon would be cute. Is the deck going in two directions? I can either see omitting the Temple with the Pawn of Ulamog package or I can go more for the creature tapped package route...
You could afford to cut 1 land for the 4th Drum but I would snap cut the Vault since this isn't that kind of deck.
Copter seems great.
I wouldn't bother with Field Surgeon type spells no.
Pawn of Ulamog is less compelling when your build has Immortal Servitude. The card is great, I'm not bashing it by any means, but it isn't necessary for this particular list.
I wanted to share a list with cards from newer sets to this archetype. With Cruel Celebrant there is another Zulaport effect available and I think especially in MP there is no need for Blood Artist anymore (I can see this card still in the deck, as I am playing with Living Death .)

There is an argument for swapping the Grim Haruspex for Midnight Reaper as it triggers for itself and the life loss shouldn't matter too much in this shell. I also wanted to play Immortal Servitude over Living Death but because of the Serrated Scorpion I think Living Death is superior. But keep in mind, that reviving just 4 Scorpions with Immortal Servitude for x=1 with a Sac Outled and 3 Cutthroat Effects on the table is 20 Damage for each opponent and therefore probably game. This deck only runs Grand Abolisher as an "utility" creature so that I can go off in my turn without having to bother about interaction.
Any Thoughts or some cards I missed that have to be in the deck?

Copter seems great.
I wouldn't bother with Field Surgeon type spells no.
Pawn of Ulamog is less compelling when your build has Immortal Servitude. The card is great, I'm not bashing it by any means, but it isn't necessary for this particular list.

There is an argument for swapping the Grim Haruspex for Midnight Reaper as it triggers for itself and the life loss shouldn't matter too much in this shell. I also wanted to play Immortal Servitude over Living Death but because of the Serrated Scorpion I think Living Death is superior. But keep in mind, that reviving just 4 Scorpions with Immortal Servitude for x=1 with a Sac Outled and 3 Cutthroat Effects on the table is 20 Damage for each opponent and therefore probably game. This deck only runs Grand Abolisher as an "utility" creature so that I can go off in my turn without having to bother about interaction.
Any Thoughts or some cards I missed that have to be in the deck?
